Michael Ellis Jones

Mike was born in Pensacola, FL on November 15, 1951. He grew up on Bayou Texar, which fostered his love of the water. He loved anything to do with the water including boating, skiing, fishing, and of course the seafood- especially fish, oysters, scallops, and crabs.

Mike joined the U.S. Army in 1972 and served in The Vietnam War. He continued his career as a radiological technician and lithotripsy specialist in Pensacola and the surrounding areas until his retirement.

Mike was a loving husband and father. He loved to spend time with friends and family; and he could cook a mean steak. He was a happy-go-lucky guy, and always had a smile on his face. Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him loved him. He had many friendships that spanned decades.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ellis Alexander Jones, Mary Belle Tucei Jones, Dewey Hobson Lowery and Elsie Clarke Ann Hudson Lowery; parents, Vincent Patrick Jones, Sr. and Virginia Dare Lowery Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Lynn Pittman Jones; sons, Christopher Ellis Jones (Shannon), Charles Michael Jones, Michael David Jones and Nicholas Allen Jones; brother, Vincent Patrick Jones, Jr. (Becky); grandchildren, Isabelle Jones, Draden Jones and Charlotte Jones; niece, Jennifer Leigh Jones Burns (Dilan); great-nephew, Maximilian Patrick Burns; a special four-legged friend, Chipper. He is also survived by many loved aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Jeff Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at 10 a.m. prior to services.

Jo Ann (Rawls) Caperton

September 1, 2020

Jo Ann (Rawls) Caperton passed away on August 13, 2020. She had a severe stroke on September 6, 2019, and never really recovered from that condition. Fortunately she remained in her home and was able to spend time with her husband.

Jo Ann was born in Pensacola, FL, on June 17, 1947, to Cleveland and Ola Mae (Barnes) Rawls. Jo Ann attended elementary school in Ensley, FL, middle school in Brentwood, FL, and graduated from Tate High School in Gonzalez, FL. She was in the band at Tate and upon graduation received a scholarship to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, MS. From there she went to Auburn University for a short time and graduated with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Mississippi State University in 1970. After graduation she married Frank Caperton on June 6, 1970, and moved to Shreveport, LA where her husband was employed. She and Frank moved from Shreveport back to Pensacola for a short period of time before moving to Knoxville, TN, in 1972 where they lived for 30 years. In 2003 they moved to Daphne, AL.

Jo Ann was very active in community service for a large part of her life, serving as a Commissioner of the Knox County Ambulance Authority as well as a docent for the Knoxville Zoo and a docent at James White Fort also in Knoxville. She was also active in the Artist community in Knoxville, and attended schooling at Arrowmont Arts and Craft school in Gatlinburg, TN where she learned to do stone carving. This was her true calling. She thrived on stone carving and continued to do it for the rest of her life. Upon moving to AL she became active in the Artist community and not only continued to do stone carving but took up pottery and sculpturing.

Jo Ann was predeceased by her younger brother Jeffery Glen Rawls and her parents. She is survived by her husband Frank and a younger brother Lester Devon Rawls and sister-in-law Wanita (Chandler) Rawls of Molino, FL,. She will be cremated and put to rest near her brother whom she loved dearly. Due to COVID-19 memorial services, in Fairhope, AL and Knoxville, TN will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Eastern Shore Art Center, Fairhope, AL.

Donald “John Henry” Malone

Donald “John Henry” Malone went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2020. He was born December 9, 1939. He lived a wonderful life in McDavid, Florida. John Henry was enlisted in the Army for 4 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and wood working. He retired from Air Products in Pace, Florida.

Preceding him in death were parents, J.E. Malone and Della Cofield Malone; brother, Gene Malone; and baby sister, Jennie.

He is survived by siblings, Bennie Malone (Joyce-deceased) of Cantonment; Betty Jo Childress (Clarke) of Gonzalez; Lon Malone (Alice) of Byrneville; Jimmie Malone (Hilda) of McDavid; and sister-in-law, Ann Malone, of Cantonment. His nieces Brenda, Kay, Sherry, Janet, Lisa, Sonya, and Terry will miss him. John Henry had many great nieces and nephews as well as many good friends. A special pet, Daisy, will miss John’s companionship.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Ray’s Chapel in McDavid at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Covenant Hospice. May thanks to his Covenant nurse, Samantha.

Dorothy Eloise Steadham

Mrs. Dorothy Eloise Steadham, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, in Pensacola, Florida.

Mrs. Steadham was a native and lifelong resident of McDavid, FL. She loved fishing, flowers, hummingbirds and mostly her grandbabies. She was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ben Steadham; parents, Ben and Clara Gilmore and son, Roy Steadham.

She is survived by her two sons, Nathan Hordy of Bratt, FL and Dalton Steadham of McDavid, FL; two daughters, Sandra (Mack, Jr.) Morris of McDavid, FL and Mary (Raymond) Cranford of Savannah, GA; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020, at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Brown officiating.

Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2020, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Steadham, Jeffery Steadham, Jonathan Godwin, Steve McCauley, Lee Jernigan and Michael Long.

Sara Ann Skelton

Mrs. Sara Ann Skelton, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. Skelton was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore, AL. She was HR Director with Masland Carpets, volunteer for the Red Cross and was known as the Ice Cream Lady. She liked to cook, fish, crabbing and taking care of her chickens, ducks, peacocks and her dog, Buddy. She is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Van Clayton Skelton; her parents, Bernard and Nellie Mae Tremer and two brothers, Jimmy Tremer and Tony Tremer.

She is survived by her son, Van Skelton (Rebel Gates) of Atmore, AL; daughter, Liz Skelton of Atmore, AL; brother, Leon Tremer of Summerdale, AL; sister, Kathleen Earhart of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Zachary Edward Turner and Sara Miriah Kathleen Skelton; two God children, Bernard Bryant and Michael Jackson and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 31, 2020, from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Waylon Rolin, Stephen Earhart, Sr., Stephen Earhart, Jr., Kendall McGhee and Joe Liffick.

Maurice Vickery

Mr. Maurice Vickery, age 76, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Vickery was a native of Huxford, AL and had resided in Semmes, AL for the past 40 years. Over the years he worked in many fields from delivery driver to mechanic, but mostly he worked in construction and became an electrician with Brown & Root. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Comer and Eva Mae Weston Vickery; sisters, Mary Rice, Jean Majors and twin sister, Clarice Walls; and two brothers, Dalton Vickery and Comer Earle Vickery.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Vickery of Semmes, AL; one son, Anthony (Shannon) Vickery of Enterprise, AL; two daughters, Shelley (Bruce) White of Eight Mile, AL and Kimberly (James) Freeman of Semmes, AL; one brother, Dennis Vickery of Jackson, AL; three sisters, Gloria Thomas of Bay Minette, AL, Gaynell (Wayne) Drew of McCullough, AL and Janice (Albert) Fincham of Gordansville, VA; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 28, 2020, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Don Davis officiating.

Burial was at Serenity Garden Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steven Eddy, Bruce White, Chris George, Jason Hernandez, Josh Jones and Ronnie Macks.

Gloria Frances Nowak Middlebrooks

Gloria Frances Nowak Middlebrooks, 91, resident of Greenwood, widow of Billie Ray Middlebrooks, passed away, Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at her home.

Born in Pensacola, FL, on January 12, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Edward Nowak, Jr. and Dora Eleanor Streeter Nowak. She was a 1950 Florida State University graduate where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Teaching and Education. While at FSU she was active in the FSU Flying Circus. Mrs. Middlebrooks was a school teacher for seven years in Escambia County, FL before moving to Ninety Six Schools where she was a teacher and cheerleading coach. She retired from Ninety Six Schools after 22 years of teaching. She was a former member of the 4-H Club and Girl Scouts where she later become a scout leader of both clubs and also a den mother in Boy Scout. She was also a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mrs. Middlebrooks was a member of Ninety Six First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two stepsons, Billy Ray Middlebrooks, II and James Gary Middlebrooks; grandson, Billy Ray Middlebrooks, III and one great-granddaughter, Jolie Ray Middlebrooks.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Mashburn officiating.

Burial will follow in Gonzalez United Methodist Church Cemetery

Timothy L. Wright

August 26, 2020

Loving husband and father, Timothy L. “Tim” (Wolf man) Wright, resident of Cantonment, FL passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at the age of 57. He was born on June 24, 1963, in Mobile, AL to the late Billy Joe and Katherine Thompson Wright.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 23 years as an AE First Class. Tim was a member of the American Legion and he loved to ride his Harley Davidson. He loved his family and friends and they loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Michelle D. Wright.

Tim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Monique Orgeron Wright; two sons, Michael D. Wright and Matthew D. Wright; daughter, Dawn Clark; grandchildren, Emery Clark, Jamie Clark, and Harlow Clark; two sisters, Angie Mohr and Amy Rizzo; father-in-law, Merrill Orgeron, Sr.; mother-in-law, Moddie Orgeron; brothers-in-law, Manning Orgeron, Marty Orgeron, Tony Rizzo, and Jerry Mohr; and many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 21, 2020, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Mike Mashburn officiating.

Burial was in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Manning Orgeron, Brent Bensinger, Bill Jackson Browning, Mike (Bandana) Arnette, and Jonohon (Chip) Berry.

David Holmquist, Scott Craven, and Steve Nemo were honorary pallbearers.

Huey Pierce Conway, Sr.

Mr. Huey Pierce Conway, Sr., age 85, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at his home in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Conway was a native of Little Rock, AL and had resided in Atmore, AL for most of his life. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy, retired carpenter, loved to fish and being outdoors.

He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Iris Phillips Conway; parents, John Henry and Bessie Lou Conway and brother, Willie Floyd Conway.

He is survived by one son, Huey Pierce (Connie) Conway, Jr. of Little Rock, AL; one daughter, Iris Dianne Boudreaux of Franklin, LA; one sister, Elsie Juanita (Norman Lee) Gerald of Atmore, AL; four grandchildren, Kevin Gulsby, Crystal Wilbur, Ryan Boudreaux and Shane Conway; and great grandchildren, Mallory Wilbur, Carter Wilbur, Gracie Wilbur, Austin Conway, Serenity Conway, Wyatt, Anna and other great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Conway Cemetery in Little Rock, Alabama with Bro. Michael Blair officiating.

Mrs. Nina “Billiot” Reardon, age 66, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020, in Pensacola, Florida.

Mrs. Reardon was a native of Cameron, LA and had resided in Flomaton, AL since 1985. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and attended Unity Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Otis Lloyd Billiot and two brothers, Steven Wayne Billiot and Stuart Keith Billiot.

She is survived by her mother, Jessie Countes of Biloxi, MS; husband of 49 years, Charles Reardon of Flomaton, AL; three daughters, Charla (Jason) McFadden of Flomaton, AL, Rachel (Chad) Morton of Barnett Crossroads, AL and Brandie (Ben) Roe of Barnett Crossroads, AL; one brother, Lee (Treva) Billiot of Biloxi, MS; three sisters, Shelia (David) Moore of Oklahoma, Gail Miller of Biloxi, MS and Sheena (Marty) Hammac of Panama City, FL and six grandchildren, Victoria Roe (Casey) Steadham of Watertown, NY, Madison McFadden of Flomaton, AL, Aaron (Elisabeth) Morton of Barnett Crossroads, AL, Brooklyn Roe of Barnett Crossroads, AL, Mallory McFadden of Flomaton, AL and Kristen Morton of Barnett Crossroads, AL.
