Mrs. Cathy Marie Nelson, age 63, passed away, May 24, 2022 in Flomaton, AL. She was born in Columbus, OH; and resided most her life in Century, FL.

Mrs. Nelson valued her time she got to spend with her family. She enjoyed watching Old TV Shows, and Westerns. She enjoyed going to Mardi Gras, creek and camping.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Roger (Maxine Woolver) Scheurell, husband, Jimmy Nelson, two brothers, Roger Scheurell, and Ronnie Scheurell.

She is survived by her one son, Zach (Lacy) Nelson, of Brewton, AL; two daughters, Amy (Jeremiah) Walston, of Flomaton, AL; Amber (Dennis) Nelson, of McDavid, FL; three brothers, Tommy (Rose) Scheurell, of Columbus, OH; Danny (Alana) Scheurell, of Columbus, OH; Tony Scheurell, of Manitowoc, WI; one sister, Marilyn Ellis, of Nelsonville, OH; eight grandchildren, Caitlyn Nelson, Anna Roberson, Xander Nelson, Somer Nelson, Gabe Nelson, Kendall Redkey, Christopher Fick, Destiny Fick, two great-grandchildren, Lil Frankie Nelson, Brexley Fick-Manners numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM

Victoria Ellen Duke Rockwell

Victoria Ellen Duke Rockwell, age 70, of LaGrange, GA, passed into eternal rest Saturday, May 21, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Vicki, was born in Union, MS on May 1, 1952 and grew up in Pensacola, Florida. She graduated from Tate High School in Pensacola in 1970, then went on to study Home Economics at Pensacola Junior College, then transferring to Troy University.

Vicki married her high school sweetheart, James Nelson Rockwell Jr. “Jim”, on September 2, 1972. This September would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Margie Duke, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Jim and Marion Rockwell Sr., and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Rockwell Jr of LaGrange; children Alexander “Sandy” (Lisa) Rockwell of LaGrange, Carrie Rockwell Wood of Statesboro, Mary Rockwell of LaGrange; 3 grandchildren Walker and Amelia Rockwell of LaGrange and Porter Wood of Statesboro. She is also survived by two brothers, Harrison (Janice) Duke and Robert (Cindy) Duke, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Vicki was a very creative individual. For most of her children’s younger years, she would sew beautiful outfits and dresses using smocking techniques with special fabrics and French lace. Her creativity was put into her passion for floral arrangements as her children were older. She started her first business, Affairs to Remember, in 2000, creating floral arrangements for weddings and events. This business grew into her opening her own store located in downtown LaGrange-The White Orchid, named for her favorite flower. This was a special boutique that featured home décor, wedding registry and specialty clothing lines and of course she continued to keep fresh flowers for events.

She also decorated homes and the local hospital for many years at Christmas, as well as teaching floral classes at Hills and Dales.

Growing up in Pensacola, Vicki has always had a love for the beach where she would spend many summer days. After her retirement, she spent as many days as she could walking the beaches collecting shells and enjoying the sand & surf.

Vicki’s family would like to thank the Wellstar Home Hospice Team, the medical staff at Warm Springs Medical Center Nursing Home and, the caregivers and staff at Poplar Creek.

Also, a personal thank you to very special friends that help care for Vicki; Tommy Whitworth, Dr. Tommy Gore, Laura & Blair Harlin, and Phil & Gayle Oliver.

The family will have a Celebration of Life for family and friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at the Del’Avant Event Center located in LaGrange.

Flowers are accepted but donations may be made to the Harmony House in LaGrange or to Alzheimer’s Research.

Gladys “Granny” Lee

Gladys “Granny” Lee
5/7/1919-5/23/2022

Granny, age 103, passed away on May 23, 2022 in her Molino home surrounded by her family. She was born in Barth, FL to Charlie and Alice Ward. Granny was a lifelong resident of Molino, Florida. When Granny was not at home raising her 4 sons, she could be found working in the lunch room at old Molino school. She was a devoted and faithful member of her church, Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle for 70+ years. You could always find Granny in the kitchen, whether it be at home or church. She enjoyed canning vegetables and going on camping trips with her late husband, Murdock. In her later years, she enjoyed coloring and making cards. She could also be seen giving the children a ride on her walker.

Granny was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Alice Ward, her husband, Murdock F. Lee, her sons, Dauphin E. Lee and George F. Lee, her grandson, Michael Lee, great grandson, Kyle Smith and siblings, Lena Ward, Nancy Terry and Clarence Ward. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Buford and Faye Lee and Randy and Carri Lee, her grandchildren, Debbie, Belinda, Bruce, Kathan, Steven, Tommy, Brian, and Alan, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Granny will be greatly missed by her family, friends, church family and anyone who was fortunate enough to have met her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Randy and Carri Lee for their dedication and care of Granny in her final years, to Emerald Coast Hospice, especially nurse Shannon, and the TLC sitters.

The pallbearers will be Alan Lee, Bruce Lee, Bruce Lee Jr. Cameron Snyder, Derek Smith and Tommy Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Neal, Michael Burnham, Millan Molina, and Parish Smith. The service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle in Molino, FL with visitation at 1PM, funeral service at 2PM and burial to follow at the church cemetery.

Harold Reggie Comalander

Mr. Harold Reggie Comalander, age 58, passed away, April 29, 2022 in Largo, FL. He was lifelong resident of McDavid, FL. He was a brick mason for many years.

Mr. Comalander valued his time he got to spend with his family. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James D. (Beulah Bethea) Comalander, three brothers, Darriell Comalander, Chris Comalander, David Comalander, and one sister, Georgia Prescott.

He is survived by his two daughters, of Pensacola, FL; five brothers, James Edward (Lizabeth) Comalander, of McDavid, FL; Larry Dove (Hazel) Comalander, of Mcdavid, FL; Jerry Thomas (Bobbie) Comalander, of Dothan, AL; Lamar Oliver (Pattsy) Comalander, of Lockhart, AL; Allen Victor Comalander, of Frisco City, AL; three sisters, Eleanor Yvonne Stuckey, of Century, FL; Melba Louise (Burrley) Townson, of Poplar Dell, FL; Mary Jane (Dempsey) Hall, of Davisville, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral service will be Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating.

Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery.

Harriett (Lynn) Seibert

Harriett (Lynn) Seibert, 58, of Molino, FL went to be with the Lord on May 20th, 2022, while surrounded by her family and close friends.

Lynn was born on February 3rd, 1964, to parents Jerry and Kitty Whatley, and she immediately brought joy and laughter to the family and world. Lynn was raised in the Myrtle Grove community and was baptized at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. Lynn graduated from Escambia High School and later attended Pensacola Junior College where she received her degree in law enforcement. She worked for the Escambia County Sheriff Department and the Clovis Police Department in New Mexico. She later served as a court magistrate in Dothan and then a dispatcher for the Huntsville Police Department before retiring to focus on her family. Our family, as well as our dear friends, always appreciated Lynn’s service to our communities and country.

Lynn fell in love with Steve Seibert and they were wed on December 12th, 1998. Steve and Lynn were happily married for 23 years, and have been inseparable from the day they met. Lynn was a fiercely dedicated mother and grandmother. Lynn and Steve have four children, raising each of them with a solid foundation to allow all of them to accomplish many wonderful things, while most notably, their own loving families. Lynn loved helping others, photography, arts and crafts, baking, and spending time with her family! Family always came first to Lynn above all things. Lynn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, “Sweet Momma”, daughter, sister, and sister-in-law. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill, but we are at peace knowing she is with our Lord and Savior.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Steve; four children, Brittany (Manny) Navas; Kylie Hutton; Brice (Brittney) Hutton; and Bailey Seibert (Zach Batten); three grandchildren, Melody Hutton, Finley Hutton, and Hugo Navas; parents, Jerry and Kitty Whatley; sister, Vondie (Jimmy) Andrews; nephew, Joshua Bryan Andrews; a large extended family; innumerable friends; and two cats, Franklin and Maxwell.

Gaylen Hood Lambert

Mrs. Gaylen Hood Lambert, age 77, passed away, Friday, May 20, 2022, in Mobile, AL. She was born in Atmore; and resided most of her life in Goodway, AL. She retired from Vanity Fair Mills with many years of employment. She was a member of Goodway Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lambert valued her time she got to spend with her family, and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gaming in both, Biloxi and Wind Creek Casino’s with her sisters. She enjoyed dancing and working in the flower gardens. She loved her dogs and cats.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Alma Lilly) Hood, one son, James Kevin Lambert, one sister, Sue Hood Chunn, sister-in law, Robert and Sue Edge, brother-in law, Buddy Baker, mother and father- in law, Lindsey and Clemis Lambert.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Rodger Lambert, of Goodway, AL; two sons, Lowell Lambert, of Monroeville, AL; Joel (Shelia) Lambert, of Daphne, AL; one sister, Martha Jean Baker, of Atmore, AL; three grandchildren, Michael James Lambert, Lindsey Lambert, Lucas Lambert, one brother- in law, TL Chunn, of Uriah, AL; other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Randy Davis and Rev. Kerry Burroughs officiating.

Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Walter M. Butler, Sr.

Mr. Walter M. Butler, Sr. of Walnut Hill, Florida was born September 18, 1946 and passed away on May 18, 2022 in Pensacola, Florida.

Mr. Butler, a native of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, resided in the Atmore and Walnut Hill area for the past twenty-three years.

Mr. Butler had a career in lumber sales and newspaper advertising. In his business trips all over South Alabama and Northwest Florida, Walter made friends everywhere he went. His outgoing personality and his gift of being able to talk to anyone, at any time and any place, assured that he never met a stranger. These contacts resulted in numerous friendships that lasted a lifetime.

During the course of his life, Walter volunteered his talents by holding office or working with the following organizations: The Boy Scouts of America, Jaycees, United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile, United Cerebral Palsy of Alabama, Leadership Atmore, Atmore Lions Club, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life and the First Baptist Church of Atmore. He was always willing to serve in any way possible.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cordell Lee and Newton Butler, and brother, Charles Sprinkle.

Walter is survived by his wife, Elsie Nall Butler; sons, Walter (Beth) Butler, Jr. of Springville, Alabama, Rhett (Heidi) Butler of Grand Bay, Alabama, and Whitney (Holly) Butler of Semmes, Alabama; step-son Eric (Angela) Stuart of Walnut Hill, Florida; step-daughter Rebecca (Blaine) Durbin of Spanish Fort, Alabama; ten grandchildren; brother, Carl (Carol) Butler of Mobile, Alabama and sisters Pat Stewart and Darla (Jess) Bryant of Lititz, Pennsylvania and Sherri Sprinkle of Mobile, Alabama.

Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Atmore, Alabama beginning at 2:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm with Dr. Kevin Garrett officiating.

Ella “Claire” Cannon Ellis

Ella “Claire” Cannon Ellis, 82, passed away peacefully in her Cantonment, Florida home on May 15, 2022, with family by her side. Claire was born in Shady Grove, AL on October 18, 1939, to Major and Blanche Cannon. Her family eventually settled in Cottage Hill, Florida, where she met the love of her life, Charles “Chunky” Ellis.

Claire, a graduate of J. M. Tate High School Class of ‘58, was a homemaker, accomplished seamstress, cake designer, and artist, and she loved to travel. She was always eager to learn and conquer new hobbies. Her beautiful voice was the perfect accompaniment to the hymns she loved singing on Sunday afternoons with her sisters and sister-in-law on their parents’ front porch, in church, and with the gospel trio, “The Grace Notes.” She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Claire was a faithful member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by her husband Charles and their son Gary, her sister Ann Fillingim, brother George Ernest Cannon, mother-in-law Mazzie Ellis, and daughter-in-law Lori Lassiter Ellis.

She is survived by her daughter Angela (Keith) Godwin and son Chuck (Vinera) Ellis, her brother James (Audrey) Cannon, sister Sharon (Ladon) Croom, grandchildren Ryan (Tara) Godwin, Shane (Jennie) Ellis, Cody (Ananda) Ellis, Daniel (Isabel) Godwin, Andrea (Kenneth) Dickens, Hannah Ellis (Colby Burkett), and Darina (Dan) Slivinschii, nine great-grandchildren, in-laws James (Neva) Ellis, and Joyce Ellis, her many nieces and nephews, and her church family.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and the Service begins at 11:00 am.

Pallbearers: Byron Sanders, Adam Sanders, Gerald Manning, Shaun Schwartz, John Stephens, and Cole Yuknis.

James Ronald White (Butch)

James Ronald White (Butch), age 83, passed away, Sunday, May 15, 2022 peacefully surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Atmore, AL. In 1989 Mr. White moved to Tallahassee, FL; where he resided for 29 years until returning to Oak Grove, FL; in 2018.

Mr. White served in the United States National Guard for 27 years. Mr. White attended Walnut Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed Alabama Football, golf, selling Ford vehicles, and Praise and Worship. He was a Little League Coach and referee for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Wheeler (Rosa Lee Etheridge) White, two sisters, Opal Turner, Peggy Barnett, one brother, Bill White, one great-granddaughter, Emersyn Kate Rolin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, JoAnn White, of Oak Grove, FL; three sons, Craig White, of Valdosta, GA; Todd (Debra) White, of Tallahassee, FL; Joel (Lena) White, of Atmore, AL; five grandchildren, Shelly (Romualdo) Chavira, of Atmore, AL; Heather (Ronald) Rolin, of Atmore, AL; James (Hannah) White, of Atmore, AL; Rhetta White, of Tallahassee, FL; Kyle (Rebecca) White, of Valdosta, GA; five great-grandchildren, Aron Chavira, of Atmore, AL; Kenslee Chavira, of Atmore, AL; Crimson Chavira, of Atmore, AL; Harper Rolin, of Atmore, AL; Dominik White, of Valdosta, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lena Daniels Taylor

Lena Daniels Taylor loved the Lord and her family. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her sons and grandson.

Born January 19, 1948 in Canoe, Alabama, Lena grew up around Century, Florida, where she graduated from Century High School in 1967 and took classes at Reid State Technical College. Century was also where she met the love of her life, Donald Taylor, on a blind date. They met under the first palm tree crossing the line into Century.

Lena and Don married on Oct. 15, 1971 and made their permanent home together in Montgomery, Alabama, with their two sons, Aaron, born in 1975, and Travis, born in 1976. Lena loved her church family and friends and was active at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, where the whole family toured with the youth choir when the boys were young. Lena also found joy working with children in church nurseries, which was her final job.

Lena was a devoted mother and when she found out she was going to have a grandson, Brooks, she exclaimed, “I’ve waited 65 years for this!” She was only 65 at the time.

Lena, 74, passed away on May 11, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Virgie Lorena Faircloth Daniels; her husband, Donald Fredrick Taylor; her sister, Dora Grueneberg; and her brothers, Dover Daniels and Denver Daniels.She is survived by her sons, Aaron Frederick (Robbyn) Taylor of Troy, Alabama, and Travis Anson Taylor of Montgomery, Alabama; her sisters, Barbara (Jody) Posey of Bratt,
Florida, and Clara Cobb of Atmore, Alabama; her grandson, Brooks Aaron Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.
