Michael and Brittaney Gay of Walnut Hill announce the birth of their daughter, Brianna Layne Gay. She was born October 10th and weighed six pounds. Proud grandparents are Charles and Ramona Gay also of Walnut Hill.

Clayton and Heather Cagle are proud to announce the birth of their son Collin Gene Cagle.
He was born at 1:30 on October 24, 2012, and weighed seven pounds, four ounces and was 19¼ inches long
Collin was welcomed home by brother Luke Cagle, grandparents Phil and Sarah Cagle, and great-grand-maw Joyce Boatwright.

The Northview Chiefs crowned Homecoming Queen Ashley Cunningham and her court Friday night. First runner-up was Ashley Mooney, and second runner-up was Ariel Holland. Junior Maid was Audrey Byrd. Sophomore Maid was Kendall Cobb, and Freshman Maid was Lillie Allen.

Taking A Bite Out Of Hunger: Peanut Butter Drive Underway

The Escambia County Extension office, Santa Rosa County Extension office and the EscaRosa Young Farmers and Ranchers are collecting peanut butter now through mid-November to help take a bite out of hunger.
The groups are accepting donations of unopened jars of peanut butter to be donated in local food pantries during Farm-City Week, November 16-22.
“Let’s keep children eating locally grown peanuts in healthy, nutritious, and yummy peanut butter,” is a slogan being promoted for the drive. The extension service said the average child will eat 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before graduating high school.
Unopened jars of peanut butter of any brand can be dropped off until November 16 at any of the following locations:

- Escambia Farm Bureau, 153 Highway 97, Molino
- Escambia County Board County Commission, Public Information Office, 4th Floor, 221 Palafox Place, Pensacola.

Mini Dance Team Clinic Planned

The Northview High School Dance Team will hold a “Mini Dance Team Clinic” for girls ages 5-12.
Practices will begin November 3 in the school gym. Registration forms are being sent home from area schools and select private dance classes. Or, click here to download and print a registration form.
The Mini Dance Team will perform before the November 9 Northview home game versus West Florida High School.

Looking Good: Century Names First ‘Community Pride Award’ Recepient

The Century Chamber of Commerce has created a new program to highlight things taking place in the community. Monthly “Town of Century Community Pride Award” recipients can be any organization, group, business or resident.
The first Town of Century Community Pride Award winner is Ben and Cheryl Boutwell at 1 Hecker Road for the beautification of their property.
“We just want to recognize those in the community that have shown their pride and done good things in our community to make Century an even better place to work and live,” said chamber President Benny Barnes.
Northview Tribal Beat Performs At Troy State Band Day

The Northview Tribal Beat Band joined 2,300 high school band members representing 32 schools from three states performing with Troy University’s Sound of the South marching band during halftime on Saturday as the University celebrated its annual Band Day.
The annual event, which began in 1998, provides high school band students the opportunity to experience performing at the collegiate level.

“Band Day provides high school band members a chance to come to TROY to be a part of a Division I football game and perform at halftime with the Sound of the South,” said Dr. Mark Walker, Troy’s associate director of bands. “It is a great recruiting tool for the band and the entire University.”
Northview’ s Tribal Beat and the other bands took part in a rehearsal Saturday morning with the Sound of the South. The bands then took part in the Trojan Victory Parade and the team’s Trojan Walk.
