Rotary Academic All-Stars Named (With Gallery)

The Atmore Rotary Club recognized 138 area high school students as Academic All-Stars Thursday night.
The Academic All-Star program is open to students who attend Northview High School, Atmore Christian School, Escambia County High School or Escambia Academy. To be named an Academic All-Star, a student must have maintained at least a B average in every subject for each grading period of the school year, with at least one A for each grading period.
Those who have maintained this status from the 9th through the 12th grades, were honored as Four-Year Academic All-Stars (pictured top) and received a scholarship.
The Randolph B. Luttrell, Sr.Scholarship, valued at $2,000, was presented to Billie Jean McKinley. The Mary Joyner Grissett Memorial Scholarship, also for $2,000, was presented to Kristin Gore. An Anna Ruth Vickery Scholarship worth $2,000 was presented to ShaDiamond Harris.

Tate Alumni Group Presents $500 Donation To The Tate High FFA
May 10, 2018
The Tate High School Alumni Group presented $500 to the Tate High School FFA Wednesday. The group previosly donated $500 to the Tate High Showband of the South for their trip to Hawaii and $500 to the Tate High cheerleaders to travel to competition.
The Tate High Alumni Group meets at 11:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at King’s Buffet on Nine Mile Road.

Tate’s Adam Norre Wins Florida School Resource Officers’ Scholarship

The Florida Association of School Resource Officers (FASRO) awarded Tate High School student Adam Norre with a $1,000 scholarship to college of his choice. Noore plans to attend the University of West Florida Florida and major in pre-med. The schoarship was presented to Norre by Tate SRO Deputy Pamela Whitlock and Principal Rick Shackle. Barrineau Park Historical Society Awards Four Scholarships

The Barreineau Park Historical Society presented four deserving this school seniors with college scholarships.
Aliya Kaufman, a senior at West Florida High School, received the $1,000 Stephen Jogan Memorial Scholarship from the Barrineau Park Historical Society. She plans to attend the University of West Florida in the fall and pursue a degree in animal science.
Madelyn Lathan, a West Florida High School senior, received the $500 Louis Crabtree Sr.Scholarship administered by the Barrineau Park Historical Society. She plans to attend Pensacola State College in the fall and major in nursing.
Kylee Jackson, a Tate High School, received a $500 Lynda Minchew Scholarship awarded by the Barrineau Park Historical Society. She plans to attend Troy University in fall and major in business.
Trae Melton, a senior at Tate High School, received a $1,000 academic scholarship from the Barrineau Park Historical Society. He plans to attend University of West Florida and major in sports medicine.
Each submitted an extensive application and an essay on why a historical society is important to a community.

Naudia Carach Of Bratt Honored At Safe America Foundation Symposium

Naudia Carach of Bratt was recently honored at the Safe America Foundation WorldSafe Symposium at the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta.
Naudia, a freshman at Northview High School, has worked with the foundation for the past two years as a teen advocate for safety. Her primary focus over this time was raising awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and support for its victims. She partnered with Clayton County (GA) Emergency Services to create a human trafficking flyer that has since made its way across the nation and to Capitol Hill.
Naudia was officially named Safe America Safe Teen Spokesperson in front of many government officials, lobbyist and Safe America supporters, including the Governor and First Lady of Puerto Rico. Throughout the next several months, Naudia will be working alongside the Safe America Foundation to begin and head a SafeTeen Team of youth advocates aged 13-19 from across America.
The teen team will serve as a youth educating youth program and will cover topics such as cyber safety, active shooter, bullying, and distracted driving. If you are a teen or parent who would like more information on the “team” email safeteenteam@gmail.com.

Cantonment Rotary Club Awards College Scholarships

The Cantonment Rotary Club has awarded several scholarships to deserving students at Pensacola State College.
The Ike Terry Music Scholarship was initially named in memory of Cantonment Rotarian James “Ike’ Terry, who was very active in music in Pensacola. Now the scholarships have been broadened in scope to include vocational and professional scholarships in memory of Cantonment Rotarian Ted Ciano who made sizeable donations to the Foundation.
The recipients of this year’s scholarships totaling $7500.00 are:

Tate FFA Alumni Rodeo Is Friday, Saturday Nights

The 27th Annual Tate FFA Alumni Foundation Rodeo will be Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 at the Escambia County Equestrian Center on Mobile Highway.
Advance tickets are available at Farm and Nursery Mart, Hill Kelly Dodge, Barnes Feed Store Pensacola and Tate High School. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children in advance and $10 and $5 at the gate.
