Cantonment Murder Suspect On ‘America’s Most Wanted’ Tonight

A murder suspect from Cantonment was featured on  “America’s Most Wanted” Saturday night.

Pensacola Police are hoping tips will lead to the arrest of 20-year old Dwayne  “Money” Pinestraw. He’s wanted on homicide and aggravated battery charges for the summer shooting death of a Pensacola toddler.

The segment on the national television program included a  re-enactment of the incident, interviews with the victim’s family and interviews with Pensacola Police Department Detective James Reese.

Reese has been the primary detective investigating the July 15 incident, which claimed the life of Ty ‘Quarius Moultrie, 19 months old, and injured Vincent Dennis, 23, at an apartment
complex on Fairfield Drive.

“We have spent many hours working this investigation and trying to find the suspect and hope this will help,” Reese said.

Critical Need: Two Blood Drives In North Escambia Today

There are two blood drives in the North Escambia area today.

Northwest Florida Blood Services says there is an immediate need for O-negative blood and other blood types.

“Holiday season emergencies, accidents and surgeries are showing increased usage of O-negative blood type by local hospitals,” according to Betty Roberts, Northwest Florida Blood Services spokesperson.

There will be blood drives on Saturday at Fran’s Country Grill at 5539 North Highway 29 in Molino from 12:30 until 5:30 p.m. and at Winn Dixie at 1550 South Highway 29 in Cantonment from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Donations can also be made at the Blood Center’s location at 1999 East Nine Mile Road from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.

Jim Allen Students To Receive New Bicycles Today

Thirty students at Jim Allen Elementary School in Cantonment will receive shiny new bicycles today, along with helmets to match.

The bicycles will be presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors as part of their 10th annual bicycle donation program. The chain will donate bikes and helmets to about 2,100 children across the country — about $200,000 worth in all.

Participating schools and organizations select recipients based on a variety of criteria including exceptionally good conduct, academic achievements, reading contests and perfect attendance.

Local Players In Action Tonight In Subway All-Star Game

Several local players will hit the field tonight as he West takes on the East in the Subway High School All-Star Football Game at Woodham Middle School.

Gates will open at 6:00, game time is 7:00 and tickets will be available at the gate. Admission is $7, or $5 with a canned food donation to Manna Food Pantries.

The West All-Star Team, representing Escambia County, will include several North Escambia area players: Northview’s Brandon Sheets, Montaio Mitchell, Sean Knight, Brian Ross, and Austin Albritton; Tate’s Scott Ryals, Jacob Lasky, Cameron Covington and Hagan Mancuso;West Florida’s Kyle Faxlanger, Jalen Jones, Joe Jackson, Antwon Carter, Jorgen Stolsig, Jake Morris and Coach Harry Lees; and McDavid resident Dak Sims who lives in McDavid.

The East All-Star Team, representing Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties, will include local players Sammy Jones and Haden McCaskill from Jay High.

Critical Need For O-Neg Blood; Blood Drives Set In Flomaton, Molino, Cantonment

Northwest Florida Blood Services says there is an immediate need for O-negative blood.

“Holiday season emergencies, accidents and surgeries are showing increased usage of O Negative blood type by local hospitals,” according to Betty Roberts, Northwest Florida Blood Services spokesperson.

There are three blood drives scheduled in the North Escambia area for Thursday and Friday. The Bloodmobile will be at McDonald’s at 80 Highway 113 in Flomaton from 11:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Friday. There will be blood drives on Saturday at Fran’s Country Grill at 5539 North Highway 29 in Molino from 12:30 until 5:30 p.m. and at Winn Dixie at 1550 South Highway 29 in Cantonment from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Donations can also be made at the Blood Center’s location at 1999 East Nine Mile Road from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.

Blood Drive Today At Two Molino Churches; One In Cantonment

A community blood drive will take place today at two Molino churches.

Northwest Florida Blood Services  will be at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Highway 29 from 8 to 11 a.m. and then at Highland Baptist Church on Highway 95A from noon until 3 p.m.

A blood drive will also be held at Gonzalez United Methodist Church at 2026 Pauline Street in Cantonment from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

When you donate to Northwest Florida Blood Services, you can save the life of a hospital patient in northwest Florida. Northwest Florida Blood Services is the exclusive provider of blood products to more than 24 area hospitals who need 175 blood donations a day. Each donation can save up to three lives.

Requirements for giving blood are below.

  • Donors must be in generally good health
  • At least 17 years of age, without permission.  16-year olds with permission granted by parents or legal guardians.
  • Must bring picture ID
  • Weigh at least 110 lbs
  • Free of infection, fever or flu symptoms, for 3 days
  • No cancer within the last 5 years
  • No antibiotics within the last 48 hours
  • No tattoos within the past 12 months
  • No chest pain, heart disease, heart surgery (Requires written physician release with diagnosis)
  • No history of viral hepatitis
  • Cannot have lived in France for 5 years or more between 1980 and the present
  • Cannot have lived or visited in the UK for a total of 3 months or more from 1980 to 1996
  • Cannot have received a blood transfusion in the UK between 1980 and the present
  • Military personnel (current and former), and their dependents, who spent time in military bases in northern Europe during 1980-1990, or southern Europe during 1980-1996, for 6 months or more
  • All military personnel (active & reserve) that are returning from Iraq, are deferred for a period of 1 year after the last date on location in that country.
