Youth Football Registrations Today For NWE, Cantonment, Flomaton

Youth football registrations will continue today for Northwest Escambia, Cantonment and Flomaton.
Northwest Escambia Youth Football
Northwest Escambia Youth Football registration will be held this morning at the Ernest Ward football field from 10 a.m. until noon. For more information, call (850) 281-5146.
Cantonment Youth Football
Cantonment Youth Football registration will be held this morning at the ballpark from 10 a.m. until noon. Registration will continue August 11.
Cost is $40 for all ages.
Flomaton Youth Football and Cheerleading
Flomaton Youth Football and Cheerleading sign-ups will be held this morning at Hurricane Park from 9 until 11 a.m.
Signups will continue August 4. The fee is $50 for the first child and $45 for each additional sibling.
If the child has never played Flomaton Youth Football before, a birth certificate is required. Birth certificates are not required for cheerleaders.

Welcome A Local Wounded Warrior Home

A local U.S. Marine injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan two years ago will be welcomed home to Pensacola Friday, and you are encouraged to joined in the celebration.
Cpl. Joseph Daniel Palmer, along with his wife Becky and his two young children, will be welcomed back at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pensacola Aviation at 4145 Jerry L. Maygarden Road, behind the Pensacola International Airport.
Palmer suffered extensive combat related injuries in Afghanistan and endured more than a year of medical rehabilitation in North Carolina.
Palmer is a 2004 graduate of Central High School. He joined the Marines in October 2008 and was deployed to Afghanistan in January 2010. He has several relatives in the North Escambia area, including his sister.
Escambia Candidates To Appear On Live TV Forum Tonight

Escambia County candidates will appear tonight in a televised candidate forum on WSRE TV 23.
“Rally 2012″ is a live forum that airs at 7 p.m. It is hosted and moderated by longtime local reporter Drexel Gilbert and Sandra Averhart. The purpose of “Rally 2012” is to give citizens an unbiased look at the candidates vying to represent them and learn where they stand on the important issues.

Portion Of Hecker Road Closed

Hecker Road in Century is closed between Lodge Road and Alger Road for repairs.
The roadway is expected to remain closed until Thursday, according to the Town of Century. Motorists are advised to use Front Street as an alternative route.
Northview Mini Cheerleading Camp Begins Today

The Northview High School cheerleaders will host a mini cheerleading camp for children age 4 through the eighth grade.
The camp will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. on July 25, July 26 and August 2.
The cost will be $30 for camp and $10 for a shirt. The shirts will be slightly different than last year’s, but will not be required. Registration begins at 2:30 on July 25.
Camp attendees will learn chants, cheers, stunts and a dance. Refreshments will be be provided. Parents are invited to see their child’s performance on August 2, and they will also perform at the first home Northview Chiefs football game. A review session date will be scheduled prior to the football game performance.

Cub Scout Pack 275 will hold a free pool and pizza party this evening for boys that interested in becoming a member.
The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Tom Byrne Park pool in Atmore for boys in grades 1-5.
Cub Scout Park 275 serves the Atmore and north Escambia County, Fla., areas and is part of the Gulf Coast Council based in Pensacola.
