Homecoming For Cantonment Cowboys; NWE Has A Schedule Change

It’s homecoming day for the Cantonment Cowboys, and the Northwest Escambia Chiefs will player earlier than scheduled today.
Cantonment Cowboys
The Cantonment Cowboys football and cheerleader will celebrate their 2014 Homecoming today at the Cantonment Sportsplex on Well Line Road.
For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cowboys fans are encourage to wear as much pink as possible to cheer Cantonment on against the Navarre Raiders.
The scheduled is as follows:
- Mighty Mites 10 a.m
- Mini Mites 11:30 a.m.
- Mites 1 p.m.
- Midgets 2:30 p.m.
- Juniors 4 p.m.
Northwest Escambia Chiefs
Poarch will travel down to Tommy Weaver Memorial Stadium at Northview High School today to take on the Chiefs of Northwest Escambia.
According to NWE, games will start one hour earlier than posted on their schedule. Games will be played as follows:
- Freshmen 3 p.m.
- Sophomores 4:15 p.m.
- Juniors 5:45 p.m.
- Seniors 7:15 p.m.

Deputies Investigate Wife’s Suspicious Death, Seek Missing Husband

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man that has been missing since his wife’s body was discovered in the couple’s home.
Deputies are seeking 44-year-old Richard Kevin Kline. Kline has been missing since October 8 when his wife’s body was discovered at their Pensacola home, the Sheriff’s Office said late Friday afternoon.
Escambia Sheriff’s deputies forced entry into a Corrydale Drive home in search of 42-year-old Jolena Kline after family members became concerned that they had not seen or heard from her in several days. Her body was discovered inside the home, and investigators said the cause of death is undetermined and is being investigated as a suspicious death.
The ECSO said Kline owns and may be driving a 2008 black Chevrolet Cobalt.

Master Gardeners Fall Festival Saturday

The annual Escambia County Extension and Master Gardeners Fall Festival will take place tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Escambia County Extension Service at 3740 Stefani Road in Cantonment.
Guests of the event will are invited to participate in the Master Gardeners’ plant sale, learn to build a raised bed garden, attend a plant clinic, visit plant vendors and more. Activities are available for children and their will be live music. Non-service animals are not permitted at the event.
Fall Carnival Today At Molino Park Elementary School (With Auction Item List)

The annual Fall Carnival will be held today at Molino Park Elementary School.
The carnival will take place on the school campus from 4:40 until 7:30 p.m. The event will featuring games, food, entertainment and much more. Everyone is welcome to attend for great family fun.
The carnival’s popular auctions will also take place, with dozens of packages available for bid. Packages include vacation getaways to Pigeon Forge, TN, and New Orleans, numerous food packages, a complete bedroom suit, a a NorthEscambia.com advertising package worth $450, and much more.

Ernest Ward High Alumni: Final Walk Through Set For Thursday

All Ernest Ward High School graduates are invited to a final walk through the old school on Thursday afternoon beginning at 4:15. Participants will meet in the Media Center, mingle and roam the halls — a stroll down memory lane.
Some of the classrooms will be dedicated to the different decades of the school with sight and sounds from the 40s and 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Digital memory books on DVD’s with lots of old pictures will be available. The price is $10 per decade, or $50 for the set.
Participants are invited to attend an Ernest Ward Middle School football game at 6 p.m., with a special reserved section on the 50-yard line, after the walk through event.
The old Ernest Ward Middle School will be demolished early next year as students move into an entirely new facility.

Oh What-A-Night: Eat Out Tonight, Help The Tate Football Program

You can eat out tonight and help the Tate High School Quarterback Club.
Whataburger at 2300 South Highway 29 (just south of East Kingsfield Road) will donate 20 percent of their sales from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday to the quarterback club to benefit the Tate Aggie football program. There will also be games and a drawing for a free Whataburger each week for an entire year.
As part of the activities, Whataburger will host a contest between freshmen, junior varsity and varsity to see who can bring the most attendees to the event. The winner will receive a free Whataburger breakfast the following week. Whataburger’s mascot, Whataguy, will also be there to add to the fun.

Today Is Voter Registration Deadline For November Election

Today is the last day to register to in the upcoming November 4 general election. Florida law mandates that registration books close 29 days before an election.
New registrations must be completed and received in the Supervisor of Elections Office by close of business on Monday, October 6. Office hours will be extended until 6:00 p.m. to accommodate last minute registrants and individuals dropping off completed applications. If mailing an application, it must be postmarked no later than October 6 in order to be effective for the November 4 election. Address and party changes can be made after the books close.

Ribbon Cutting Set For New Head Start Program In Molino

The Community Action Program will celebrate the opening of their newest Head Start location Friday in Molino
Escambia County District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry will attend a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. at the Molino Community Complex at 6450 Highway 95A.
Head Start and Early Head Start Programs provide comprehensive, developmental services for low-income pre-school children ages birth to five and support services for their families. The purpose of the Head Start programs is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of health, educational, nutritional, social and other services. The cornerstone of the program is parent and community development.
