Tate Grad, Miss University Of Mobile In Concert Tonight
March 21, 2015
Tate High graduate Emily Danforth, who was recently named as Miss University of Mobile, will hold a benefit concert at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Molino tonight.
Danforth will represent the University of Mobile for the upcoming year at various events and compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June. Danforth will work as an ambassador for her personal platform, Make Thy Paths Straight: National Scoliosis Foundation, throughout her year of service.
“This journey to the crown has been an incredible one of learning true trust and faith in God and His will. I am so honored to represent the university in a way that brings glory to God,” said Danforth. “I am excited to continue to work with my platform and help bring awareness of scoliosis and reach a larger audience.”
Danforth will be in concert at 7 p.m. at Aldersgate. The concert will feature The Sounds of Mobile and will highlight pieces of Showtunes, Worship songs and Opera. The concert is free, and donations will be accepted. Donations from the event will go towards The Childrens’ Miracle Network and The National Scoliosis Foundation.
Flags Remain At Half Staff Until Sunset In Florida

Flags of the United States and Florida have been at half-staff at public building and grounds since last Friday .In coordination with the state of Louisiana and Governor Bobby Jindal, Governor Rick Scott order the flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset today in remembrance of the seven Marines and four Louisiana National Guard solders killed when their helicopter crashed off the coast near Navarre last week. Highway 97 Traffic Delays Friday
March 20, 2015
Drivers on Highway 97 can expect delays Friday just south of the state line. There will be alternating and intermittent land restrictions from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. as crews perform routine maintenance activities.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, drivers are reminded to use caution and to watch for traffic flaggers when traveling through the work zone. All planned activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Railroad Crossing Closure Update

CSX railroad crossing closures are continuing this week in Escambia County for the installation of new rail ties and resurfacing.
Here is the latest schedule provided by CSX as of Thursday morning:
- Countri Lane — closed; tentative reopening late Thrursday night
- Becks Lake Road, closed until late Friday night or Saturday morning; temporary crossing available immediately south of existing crossing
- Eden Lane — out Thursday tentative reopening late Thursday night
