Apply For Housing Rehabilitation Assistance In Century Tuesday and Wednesday

Residents from Century and the unincorporated areas of Escambia County will have another chance to apply for housing rehabilitation programs to recover from the February 15 tornado.

Staff from the town of Century and the Escambia County Neighborhood Enterprise Division will be at the Century Town Hall  at 7995 North Century Boulevard, on and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. to take or complete applications for housing rehabilitation programs for citizens in the Town of Century and unincorporated areas.  Applicants must make an appointment by calling (850) 994-0081 for town of Century residents or (850) 595-3011 for unincorporated Escambia County residents. Walk-ins may not be able to be accommodated.

Applicants must bring a social security card for all household members and a picture ID for all household members over 18. Additionally, applicants should bring the following current information with them as applicable:

  • Three most recent pay stubs
  • Social security award letter
  • Retirement/pension statement
  • Unemployment statement
  • Child support/alimony verification
  • Current bank statements
  • Current mortgage statement
  • Current insurance statement
  • Utility bill
  • Any other documentation related to income being received by any member of a household

Programs available include the county’s HOME, CDBG and SHIP rehabilitation programs. Income limits apply and the property must be owner occupied and current on property taxes to receive assistance. For more information, call the Escambia County Neighborhood Enterprise Division at (850) 595-0022.

Sawmill Day And Car Show Today In Century

The Alger-Sullivan Historical Society will present the 27th Sawmill Day and Car Show in Century today, in the Historic District at  Jefferson Avenue and Fourth Street.

There will be a vintage and custom car show organized by the Bad Boys Car Club, plus arts and crafts booths, the traveling museums of the Northwest Florida Living History Association, and Raymond Melvin’s Naval Stores Museum.

Free tours of the museums will be highlighted with the Search and Find Game, where completed questionnaire sheets will qualify participants for a prize drawing. Local history books will be on sale, including the release of the society’s new cookbook and museum guide. Boston Butt sandwich meals will be available, and entertainment is scheduled all day.  The flag raising ceremony will be at 8:30 a.m. and the car show awards will take place at 2 p.m.

Win Tickets To The Tate FFA Rodeo; Rodeo Begins Tonight
