Mrs. Viola Jean Nichols

Mrs. Viola Jean Nichols age 79, a lifelong resident of Flomaton, AL; passed away peacefully in Pensacola, FL; on September 25, 2023. She was born October 8, 1943, in Flomaton, AL; to Lewis and Fannie Hobbs Emmons.

Mrs. Viola enjoyed traveling with her husband visiting various countries around the world. She also enjoyed going to church, fishing and going to various casinos.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis (Fannie Hobbs) Emmons, and one brother, Cournel, “CJ” Emmons.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Lee Edward Nichols, of Flomaton, AL; one brother in-law, David L. (Janice) Nichols, of Wilmer, AL; five nieces, Linda Milam, of Flomaton, AL; Marty (Melvin) Rolin, of Atmore, AL; Nancy (Ray) Evans, of Flomaton, AL; Kim (Nolan) Lorenzano, of Molino, FL; Lisa (Andre) Boykin, of Pensacola, FL; one nephew, Jay (Teresa) Wesley, of Atmore, AL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Bro. James Peacock officiating.

Burial will follow at Emmons Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Danny Hendrix, Lavon Bradley, Sammy Robinson, Wayne Lisenby, Wayne Smith, and Sonny.

Marian ‘Bobbie’ R. Hinote

Marian “Bobbie” R. Hinote, 95, of Pensacola went to be with The Lord on Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born in Pensacola and lived in the area for 76 years. Bobbie was the matriarch of the entire family! She was a woman of few words but when she had something to say to you, she said it and then she was done with it! She lived a full life at the ripe age of 95. She was a member of Scenic Hills Church of Christ. Bobbie was the Godliest woman we know and we are proud to call her mom and grandma.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her father, Theodore Roosevelt Mixon; mother, Clarice Louise Gates Mixon; brother, Tracy Roland Mixon and his wife Illene Stoddard Mixon; brother, Nelson Webster Mixon and his wife Sonja Mixon; and husband Fletcher B. Hinote.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Janet Thornhill; son, Andy Hinote; son, Robin Hinote; son, Paul Hinote; daughter, Becky Rhodes; 11 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who have supported them through prayers, thoughts, food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobbie’s honor to Scenic Hills Church of Christ.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00am- 10:00am Tuesday, October 3, 2023 Scenic Hills Church of Christ and the funeral service to follow at 10:00am. There will be a procession from the church to Pensacola Memorial Gardens after church services for the committal portion of the funeral service.

Mark Randall Boyington

Mr. Mark Randall Boyington, age 48, passed away, Saturday, September 23, 2023, in Mobile, AL; surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was employed with Wind Creek Casino for 13 years, and the past 4 years with the Poarch Creek Indian Gaming Commission.

Mr. Boyington’s life was filled with family, faith and love, he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and family. He was a very avid Alabama Football Fan “Roll Tide”. He liked going fishing, shopping, going to yard sales and the Thrift Stores. He was a mama’s boy and her nickname for him was “Rudy”.

He is preceded in death by his father, O’Neal Boyington, one brother, Danny Boyington, one sister, Racheal Reeves, grandfather, Roil Hadley, grandmother, Dottie Burdick, grandmother, Pearl (Hayward) Boyington, and grandparent’s in-law, Charles (Claudeen) Kimmons.

He is survived by his mother, Imogene Boyington, of Atmore, AL; his loving wife of 6 years, Britney Boyington, of Atmore, AL; one son, Dustin Boyington, of Atmore, AL; three daughters, Alyssa Gordon, of Atmore, AL; Stormi Boyington, of Bay Minette, AL; Kathleen Boyington, of Atmore, AL; two brothers, Rodney (Becky) of Lottie, AL; Jimmie (Michelle) Boyington, of Atmore, AL; three sisters, Ester (Doug) Smith, of Atmore, AL; Linda (Dewayne) Salter, of Atmore, AL; Lisa Garrick, of Atmore, AL; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Al Bethea and Rev. Kathy Chavers officiating.

Burial will follow at Lottie New Home Cemetery.

Peggy Sue Couch

Mrs. Peggy Sue Couch, age 75, passed away, Monday, September 25, 2023, in Atmore, AL; surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of the Poarch Community and a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indian, where she served three terms on the Tribal Council.

Mrs. Couch enjoyed traveling with family to numerous places such as the mountains and Nevada. She liked quilting and wood working, specially building cabinets. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel and canning food. She really liked Christmas, such as making Christmas stockings and candy. She always was there to help people in need.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Buster Eugene (Bessie Mooneyham) Rolin, husband, Harold McElhaney, three brothers, Donnie Eugene Rolin, Earnest Dean Rolin, and Harvey James Rolin.

She is survived by her four sons, Tinker (Tasha) Rolin, of Poarch, AL; Johnny Ray Steadham, of Booneville, AL; Bryan (Linda) Couch, of Atmore, AL; Danny (Tammy) Couch, of Franklinville, NC; seven brothers, Roy Rolin, of Poarch, AL; Walter (Anita) Rolin, of Gulf Shores, AL; Kenneth Wayne Rolin, of Poarch, AL; Shawn (Stephanie) Rolin, of Poarch, AL; Anthony (Jennifer) Rolin, of Century, FL; Dino (Nicole) Rolin, of Lottie, AL; Johnny Mack Rolin, of Poarch, AL, two sisters, Virginia “Bell” Godwin, of Poarch, AL; Tonya (Wesley) Rayborn, of Atmore, AL; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Patrice Edmonson

Patrice Edmonson, 64, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023. She was born in Atmore, Alabama on June 29, 1959 to Arthur Earl White and Mary Jane Jordan. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl White and her husband, David Edmonson.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Mary and Charles Jordan; two children, Brandon and Eddie Edmonson; three siblings, Janice Wentz (Randy), Lori Driver (Gary), and Tammy Edmonson (Brian).

Memorial services for Patrice Edmonson will be announced at a later date.

Johnny Eugene Boyington

Johnny Eugene Boyington, age 74, born in Rabun, AL and a resident of the White House Fork Community died Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his residence. He retired from electrical sales and then went to work as a Veterans Service Officer for the State of Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Vietnam, a graduate of Troy State University, a member of VFW Post 3568 and a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darnell “Doli” Boyington of White House Fork; two sons, Anthony (Stacie) Boyington and Kevin Boyington all of White House Fork; one sister, Elleraine Stewart of Rabun; one brother, Haywood Boyington, Jr of Bay Minette, AL; eight grandchildren, Kirstin, Ty, Rileigh, Ryder, Braidin, Ryan, Landin and Daniel and four great grandchildren, Jaxon, Avery, Chason and Blakelee.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Frazier, Earl Boyington, O’Neal Boyington, Purvis Boyington, Charles “Tootie” Boyington and a great grandson, Cardon Hyatt.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the White House Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Clark Beiler officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery.

The family will receive Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service at White House Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Boyington, Landin Boyington, Ryan Boyington, Braidin Hyatt, Ryder Boyington and Ty Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Lionel Peacock, Frazier Martin, Timmy Richerson and Josh Hodgen.

The family would like to say a special thank you to his caregivers, Tabatha Geck, Lillie Bryars and Troy Madden.

Bettie Boutwell

Mrs. Bettie Strength Boutwell, age 73, passed away, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in Flomaton, AL; surrounded by her loving family. She resided most of her life in Flomaton and a member of Friendship Church. She worked at Starter Manufacturing with many years of service.

Mrs. Boutwell loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved listening to Dolly Parton. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many vacation destinations from the mountains of Tennessee “Dixie Stampede”; to “Silver Springs” in Florida.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus A. (Perry Hammac) Strength, husband, Herman Boutwell, one son, Herman Ander Boutwell, one sister, Barbara Ann Strength, and one nephew, Billy Allen Strength.

She is survived by her one daughter, Amy (Mark) Hastings, of Flomaton, AL; two brothers, Rufus Mason (Diane) Strength, of Jay, FL; Billy (Liz) Strength, of Flomaton, AL; four sisters, Carol (Gene) Sims, of Pace, FL; Judy Kinsey, of San Antonia, TX; Mandy (Jackie) Kelly, of Pollard, AL; three grandchildren, Mark Hastings, Jr; Faith Hastings, Leanna Terry, one great-grandchild, Lillian Brown, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Glenn Johnson officiating.

Michael ‘Mike’ James Rogers

Michael “Mike” James Rogers, 74, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023. He was born in Springfield, Illinois to the late, Donald and Genevieve Rogers. He was married to Barbara “BJ” Rogers for 31 years. Mike worked as a social worker for the Lakeview Center and the State of Florida. He also worked as a car salesman, and a cable technician for several cable companies. He had a passion for photography and cars. His favorite things to do were fishing with his son, playing poker and pool, and attending races at Five Flags Speedway. He loved listening to the Beatles. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Rogers; brother, Patrick Rogers; and nephew, Mikey Russell.

He is survived by his wife, BJ Rogers; son, Jarrett Rogers; sisters, Kathy Perez (Joe), Martha Rogers, and Sharon Taylor Rogers; brothers, Don and John Rogers; special nephews, Sam and Noah; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 1-2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North (1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment). A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 30 , 2023, with Wesley Jeffcoat officiating.

Margaret Ann Colbert, age 69, of Atmore, AL passed away on September 18, 2023 in Birmingham, AL. She was born on October 9, 1953 in Claiborne, AL to Ed Taylor and Hattie Pritchett Taylor. Margaret was a firm believer in hard work. She had a passion for taking care of others which showed in her forty-year nursing career. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Ricky Taylor, Roy Taylor, Jimmy Ray Taylor, Nan Taylor Nelson and Leon Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Haley (Dempsey) Rolin of Poarch, AL; her grandchildren, Braxton Cohen Harrison and Bryleigh Grace Rolin; her siblings: Larry (Barbara) Taylor of Hot Springs, AR, Dwaine (Betty) Taylor of Fulton, MS, James E. Taylor of Atmore, AL, Terry (Mary) Taylor of Hearne, TX, Richard (Rene) Taylor of Atmore, AL, Debbie King of Bay Minette, AL, Elizabeth (Jim) Chandler of Daphne, AL, and Delilah (Henry) Haire of Jay, FL. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews, and affectionately known as “Aunt Nancy”.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Old Salem Cemetery in Mexia, AL.

Judith Ann Meldrim

Judith Ann Meldrim, 77, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Judith was born July 10, 1946 in Berea, Ohio to the late Coy and Lila Burchwell. She was a member of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, and a member of Prime Timers.

Judith is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob Meldrim; her three children, Jeff Meldrim (Nichelle), Mark Meldrim (Christie), and Jennifer Freckleton (Jeremy); 12 grandchildren, Alexis, Dillon, Libbie, Leann, Victoria, Robert, Eric, Lindsey, Sara, Ashley, Kelcey, and Joseph; her great grandchildren, Lennox, Lucas, and Salem; sisters, Patty Kitching (Stanley), Barbara Salvador (Steve), Susan Sprunger (Dong); and extended family.

The family will receive friends for visitation at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
