Linda Cmehil

Linda Cmehil, age 50 of Molino, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Linda was a proud Navy wife and Navy ombudsman. She was a proud mother who was very involved in her children’s lives, volunteering whenever she could. She was quite the craftsperson, making jewelry, paintings, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, ceramics, stained glass and calligraphy.
She was a member of the Molino Homemakers.

She was preceded in death by her biological father, David White.

Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Andrew Lee Cmehil; son, Trevor Cmehil; daughter, Kathryn Cmehil; parents, William and Gertraud Ernst; two brothers, Timothy Ernst (Tammy) and Steven Ernst (Carolyn).

Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Eyvonne Carden

Miss. Shirley Eyvonne Carden age 57 of Hwy. 31 Flomaton, Alabama passed away early Friday morning May 21, 2010 in a Century, Florida Nursing Facility after a brief illness. She was a native of Brewton, Alabama and a life long resident of Flomaton, Alabama. Miss. Carden was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors: two brothers, Jimmie (Doris) Carden of Flomaton, Alabama and Jack (Linda) Carden of Jay, Florida; two sisters, Bobbie (Sonny) Chavers of Brewton, Alabama and Linda Eddins of Opelika, Alabama; nine nieces and nephews, whom she affectionately called her ‘grandchildren,’ and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday night, May 22, 2010 from 6 until 8:00 P.M. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Brewton, Alabama.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, May 23, 2010 at 3:00 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Henderson and Rev. Jerry Keese officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Springs Cemetery Brewton, Alabama with William Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton, Alabama, directing.

Luke Bozeman

Luke Bozeman, age 95, of Cantonment, Florida passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2010. Mr. Bozeman was born March 30, 1915 in Covington County, Alabama.
Preceding Mr. Bozeman in death was his wife; Sarah Leona Barrow Bozeman.

Survivors include his daughter; Sarah Juanette Boshears, his son; Luke L. Bozeman, 3 grandchildren; Shawna Upshaw, Jonathan Boshears and Sara Bozeman, 3 great-grandchildren; Alex Groshong, Christian Upshaw and Noah Upshaw

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Ron McGlotheren officiating. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Assembly of God Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

Peter “Pete” Gindl

May 17, 2010

Pete Gindl, age 74, of Barrineau Park, Florida passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010. Pete was born December 11, 1935 in Pensacola, Florida. He was a graduate of The University of Auburn and an avid War Eagle fan. Pete served for 24 years on the Escambia County School Board. He was a farmer by trade and also taught for 18 years as an agriculture teacher at Tate High School. He was in the navy reserve and a life time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Pete was on the Pensacola Interstate Fair Association Board of Directors. He was a past member of the Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Award.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years; Sue Wilson Gindl, his daughters; Jeanene Hall (Tony) of Bay Springs, Florida, Lesa Morgan (Teet) of Cantonment, Florida, Nancy Perry (Foye) of Molino, Florida, his sons; Peter Gindl (Donna) of Barrineau Park, Florida and Stephen Gindl (Carmen) of Pace, Florida, grandchildren; Christa Wilson, Jimmy Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Caleb Gindl, Lacie Gindl, Rayla Gindl, Rudy Gindl and Lindsey Gindl, great grandchildren; Jordan Wilson, Cooper Wilson and Owen Morgan.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Koyickal and Father George Thekkummattahil officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Serving, as pallbearers will be Jimmy Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Caleb Gindl, Rudy Gindl, Will Wilson and Jerry Haupert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pensacola Interstate Fair Board of Directors.

The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Hospice for their care and compassion during his illness, also, Gentiva nurses, J. B., Melissa, Sue and Leo for their care and friendship.

Jesse D. “J.D.” Rigby

Mr. Jesse D. “J.D.” Rigby, age 95, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at The Meadows Assisted Living in Atmore, Ala. He was born in Oak Grove, Fla. to the late Jesse L. and Evie R. Rigby. He was a farmer and then worked for 21 years as a Deputy with the Escambia County Florida Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Century Masonic Lodge #213 and the Scottish Rite of Pensacola, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Erma S. Rigby, his parents, and four brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Rigby is survived by his sons, Jesse Wendell and Margo Rigby of Pensacola, Fla., Ronald B. and Suzanne Rigby of Byrneville, Fla.; daughter, Jackie and Billy Darby of Oak Grove, Fla.; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, a sister, Evie R. Hall of Pensacola and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Earle Green and Rev. Dennis Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Fla.

The family received friends Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Addie Mae Straughn, age 89, of Molino, FL, passed away Wednesday, May 12.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Davis, Marietta, GA, Laura Holmes, Ruth (Howard) Thomas, John (Tami) and Clifford Straughn; ten grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren; siblings, Pearlie Williams, Bernice (Peter) Scott, Grady (Jean), Velma Wiliams; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2010, 1pm at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Lovelace, Pastor, and Rev. Hamilton of Union Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope PBC Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from 12 to 9pm at Joe Morris Funeral Home Monday.

Keith Picotte

Keith Picotte, 39, of Molino, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Keith was most passionate and proud of his children and family. He was grateful to God for life and loved cooking, fishing, mechanics, motorcycles and his friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Picotte, and brother, Kirk Picotte.

Keith is survived by his three children; eldest son and wife, Keith and Leticia Picotte, son, Kane Picotte, and daughter, Michelle Picotte; mother, Linda Gates; brother and sister-in-law, Sean and Pamela Hobbs; niece, Bethany; nephew, Reid Hobbs; grandmother, Rose Reid; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

A visitation was held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with a service following at 11:00 AM.

Billy Beck III

Taken at a young age, Billy Beck III is preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy Sr. & Jeanette Beck and his uncle Jerry Beck.

He is survived by his parents, Billy Jr. & Cathy Beck; brothers, Victor (Desiree) and Austin Beck; grandparents, C.A. & Mildred Longo; aunts & uncles, James Beck, Darlene Thompson, Susan Fonté, Anthony Longo and Charles Longo; his girlfriend, Jesseca Madrid; and close friends, Jason Fetters, Clint Wooten & Cami Wooten and a host of other family and friends.

Superman loved to draw and fish the Bob Sikes Bridge, Ft. Pickens and area ponds and creeks. One can imagine that he’s finally found that perfect fishing hole.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 12th at 6:30pm at the entrance of Ft. Pickens. The Service will be conducted by Rev. Gene Hudson of Pine Forest Assembly of God Church.

William Rufus “Bill” Jones

Mr. William Rufus “Bill” Jones, 70, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Montrose, AL.

Mr. Jones was a native of Milton, FL, a resident of Flomaton, AL, since 1978, a member of the Century Masonic Lodge #213, and the Bethel Temple Holiness Church.

Survivors include: his Daughter, Cathy Jones of Robertsdale, AL; a Stepdaughter, Ilene M. Cook of Century, FL; 3 Grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and a Sister, Lois Marie McDade of Chipley, FL.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John Fillingim and the Rev. Ricky Peebles officiating.

Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery with Masonic services.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 between 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Vest Carolyn Sharpless

Mrs. Vest Carolyn Sharpless, age 89, of Atmore, Ala., died Sunday, May 2, 2010. She was retired from Monsanto, born in Hartfield, Ala. to the late John H. and Maude Childs Melton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex J. Sharpless, a granddaughter, Valisa Paulette Lambert and a son-in-law, L. Jackie Sims.

Mrs. Sharpless is survived by one son, James Lamar Sharpless and wife, Sandra, of Orange Beach, Ala.; two daughters, Gloria Sims of Atmore and Carolyn Lambert and husband, Gerald, of Goodway, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Carroll of Pensacola, Fla. and Evelyn Stokes of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until service time.

Active pallbearers will be David Brown, David Lambert, Joshua Johnson, Greg Sharpless, Scott Sharpless and Mark Sims.
