Oscar Eugene Rushing was born June 21, 1920, passed away June 2, 2010 in Century, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Ann Weaver Rushing. Mary Ann was born and raised in Chickasha, OK.
Oscar is survived by his sister Elsie Padgett of Pace Florida, granddaughter Heather Phillips and her husband Dave, two great grandchildren, Shelby Phillips and Charlotte Ann Phillips, of Austin Texas, stepson Marc Hill and his wife Carol Levy, of Oklahoma City, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. No services are planned at this time. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to any veterans group, or the charity of your choice.

Charles R. Milstid, 69, of Perdido died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in Perdido.
He worked construction, born on Feb. 4, 1941, to the late Floyd and Maggie Lee Coleman Milstid in Perdido.
A son, Rex Milstid; two brothers, Isaac Melvin Milstid and Floyd Milstid Jr. and one sister, Esther Delores Hall, preceded him in death.
Survivors are one daughter, Ruth Milstid Schachle of Molino, Fla.; three brothers, Tommy Eugene Milstid of Molino, Fla., James Edward Milstid of Bay Minette and Guy Lord Milstid of Perdido; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, in Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Perdido with the Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. will be in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Neil C. Fillingim, 50 passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Uriah, AL.
Mr. Fillingim was a native of Bluff Springs, FL, a resident of Flomaton, AL since 1993, a retired U.S. Navy Veteran after 20 years of service and attended the Protestant Church. Preceded in death by his Father, Thomas Fillingim.
Survivors include: his Wife, Sonya Fillingim of Flomaton, AL; his Son, Cameron and Sheena Fillingim of Flomaton, AL; a Granddaughter, Bailey Lynn Fillingim; his Mother, Louise Fillingim Dockens of Christian Home, FL; two Brothers, Thomas “Butch” and Faye Fillingim of Bratt, FL, and John and Pat Fillingim of Jay, FL; and two Sisters, Susan and Leslie Barnes, and Gail and Seabo Chavers, both of Christian Home, FL.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Lee and the Rev. John Fillingim officiating.
Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M .at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be military honor guard.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Parker, John Lassiter, Michael Husband, James Thompson, Lee Pollitt, and Al Ward.
Constance Margaret “Connie” Nowlin

Constance Margaret “Connie” Nowlin of Cantonment, Florida, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, entered through the garden gate to join her loving husband, Bob, on Sunday morning, June 13, 2010. Connie was 86 years young as her loving family surrounded her upon her departure.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. “Bob” Nowlin; mother, Ruth McCarthy and son, Richard L. “Dick” Nowlin. Connie is survived by her children, James “Pancho” Nowlin (Kathy), Ed Nowlin (Marcia), Robert Louis Nowlin, (Linda) all of Pensacola; Robert S. “Rob” Nowlin of Jay; Bobbie Jean Marcus (Gene) of Colorado; Connie Ellen Burcham (Mike) of the U.S. Mountain West; and Ruth Aubrey (Roger) of Spanish Fort, AL; two sisters, Alice Marshall of St. Augustine, FL and Lillian Stark of New Jersey; brother-in-law, Charles Nowlin of Panama City, FL; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A native of New Jersey, Connie resided in the Pensacola area for the past 64 years. As a young lady, she and her sisters loved to travel to New York City to listen to the bands of the day, including Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Frank Sinatra. She was a member of Gonzalez United Methodist Church and had worked for St. Regis Paper Company and Howard Johnson’s. She enjoyed traveling and gardening and was an avid nature and animal lover, but gained her greatest joys from her family, especially the little children.
The family will receive friends at Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 2800 Wilde Lake Blvd., in Pensacola on Thursday evening, June 17, 2010 from 5:30 pm until the 7:00 pm Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Harold Lee Stewart

Harold Lee Stewart, age 66, of Jay, died on June 11, 2010 in Pensacola, Florida. He was longtime resident of Flomaton, AL and served in the U.S. Navy for three tours in Vietnam. He retired from Flomaton Police Department as chief after 23 years of service. He was a loving husband, father grandfather, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher Haywood Stewart and Lessie Ham; former wife, Doris Knowles Stewart; sister, Agnes Stewart; an infant sister; and brother, Haywood Stewart.
He is survived by wife, Patsy Stewart; sons, Scottie (Alice) Stewart and Shaundale Stewart; daughter, Samantha (Richard) Matlock; stepdaughters, Theresa Key and Tiffany (Calvin) Nolan; stepson, Gary Carr; sisters, Mary Stewart Smith and Marjorie Ochesley; grandchildren, Tabitha, Taylor, Dawson, Reagan, and Brody Stewart, Pheonix Matlock, Jason McClean and William Carr; and great-grandchild, Chase Nolan.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverends Matt Dobson and Doug Darby officiating services. Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery with Police Officer Honors. A visitation was held from 6 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Jay Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Wagner, Jr., Allen Walston, John Powers, John Flowers, Paul Hudson, Jeff Joyner, and Larry Hammonds.
Honorary pallbearers are members of New Bethel Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank his nephew, Dr. C. David Smith for his kind and compassionate care.

Mattie Lou Brantley Crook, 91, of Atmore died Monday, June 14, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on Dec 7, 1918 in Escambia County to the late Charlie Patrick and Lillie Ella Conway Brantley. She and her late husband were owners of the City Café in Atmore.
Her husband, James Wheeler Crook Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors are one son, Wheeler Crook III and wife, Carol, of Atmore; two daughters, Patricia Crook Threadgill and husband, Bill, of Pensacola, Fla. and Deborah Crook Ray and husband, Joe, of Montrose; one sister Essie Lee Brantley Noll of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Carey Miller (Jamie), Lindsey Cranford (Alex), James Wheeler Crook IV (Laura), Brantlee Vinson (Matt), Bonnie Farmer (Dean), Emily Ray, Ben Ray and Allen Ray and four great grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. June 16, 2010 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Haskel Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family received friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Mr. Hoyt Toxy Bonds, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Flomaton, AL.
Mr. Bonds was a native of Winston City, AL, a resident of Flomaton, AL for the past 56 years, and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was an amateur radio operator for the MARS Network, a graduate of the University of Alabama, the owner and operator of Bond’s Communications and a deacon of the Flomaton First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his Wife of 60 years, Nell Bonds.
Survivors include: two Daughters, Judy Gail Kearley of Brewton, AL, and Susan Kaye and Roger Adkinson of Flomaton, AL; 4 Grandchildren, Star Adkinson Pugh of Walnut Hill, FL, Victoria Kearley Stewart of Brewton, AL, Brad Adkinson of Flomaton, AL, and Jill Adkinson Conner of Flomaton, AL; 6 Great-Grandchildren; a Brother, Ron Bonds of Moody, AL; and a Sister, Joyce McKenzie of Gadsden, AL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Flomaton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Stockstill officiating.
Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery with Petty Funeral Homes, LLC.directing.

Mrs. Elmira G. Crapps, 103, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at a Pensacola, FL hospital.
Mrs. Crapps was a native of Georgiana, AL, a resident of Gandyville, FL since 1925 and attended the Poplar Dell Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her Husband of 65 years, W.H. Crapps.
Survivors include: a special Nephew, Dale Brunson of Gandyville, FL; a special Niece, Charlotte Field of Pensacola, FL; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gandy and the Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Margaret Coon

Margaret Coon 81, a lifetime resident of Escambia County, passed away quietly at home after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, 9 months, Joe, two sons both of Pensacola, Harry (Susan) Coon and Steven (Cecile) Coon and a daughter Saundra (Rusty) Hudson of Daytona Beach and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her garden and her flowers. With graciousness and generosity she touched the lives of all those around her. Strength, dignity and perseverance, she was truly a Steel Magnolia, a gracious southern woman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Joe Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at Aldersgate United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

In the early morning hours of June 6, 2010 God saw one of his precious flowers that needed to be plucked. Betty was this flower, and she is now fully blooming with the Lord.
Betty was born on February 28, 1944 to Duffy and Rosa Mae Jefferson. Her father preceded her in death.
Betty leaves to cherish very fond memories of her, a devoted husband, Ray Edler; six children, Victoria Daniels, Allen Moore, Lydia Moore (Stephen Killan), Sentia Dorsey, Darcy Kirkland and Vickie Edler; mother, Rosa Jefferson; three grandchildren, Charlie Daniels, Jr., Chimere and Shontell Daniels; five great-grandchildren, Kyara Gen, Jadin Daniels, Anaiah Daniels, Jashaun Gean and Anjelia Pagan; one sister, Marilyn Harris; a favorite aunt, Charlie Mae Cooper; a favorite cousin, Betsy Lee Chavers; a special friend, Gloria Donald; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 12 to 8pm June 11, 2010 at Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home. Services will be on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10am at St. Paul’s AME Zion Church, Cantonment. Interment will be at Cedartown Cemetery.
