Elise Scott Crook

Elise Scott Crook, 92 of Fairhope, Al formally of Atmore, Al died Friday August 19, 2011, in Daphne.
She was a retired school teacher. She was born in Cedar Hill, Alabama, on January 27, 1919, to the late George English and Elizabeth Lee Morrissette Scott.
She was the president of the Atmore Red Cross chapter, past president of the United Methodist Women’s, member of the DAR Society, an Atmore Citizens of the Year, and was active member of Alabama Women’s Dental Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Samuel F. Crook and A son Samuel F. Crook, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Crook and wife, Cindy of Culpepper, VA and Fred Crook and wife, Karen of Fairhope; two brothers, Charlie Scott and wife, Leah, Gorin Scott and wife, Joyce all of Uriah; one sister, Blanche Binford of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren, Alison C. Hulsey, Elizabeth C. Dickinson, C.J.Crook, Carrie Crook, and Rachael Crook.
Funeral services will be Monday August 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Reece, Rev. Tim Trent, and Rev. Diane Everette officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.
Active Pallbearers are, Fred Crook, Charles Crook, C.J. Crook, Charles Scott, George Alford, George Scott and Rob Scott.
Family will receive friends, Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m.

Antoinette Alesci Perkins

Antoinette Alesci Perkins, age 85, of Cantonment, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011. She was born August 26, 192, in Messina Sicily, Italy to Antonio and Maria Alesci. She was raised in Oswego, New York. She resided in Cantonment for 50 years. Mrs. Perkins was a devoted member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. She was a member of various organizations including St. Jude Alter Society, Legion of Mary, and Diocese of Catholic Women.
Preceding her in death was her husband of more than 61 years, Avery W. “Smokey” Perkins, Jr.; her sister; Francis Baker; her identical twin Mayme Bradshaw and her brother Lucian Alesci.
She is survived by her two children; Kathi (Michael) Guy and Bill (Shelly) Perkins; eight grandchildren; Jeremy, Mary, Lora and Carolyn Guy, Matthew, Ashley, Caitlin and Daniel Perkins, three great grandchildren; Ashley, Begonia and Tony; her brother; Frank (Muriel) Alesci; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church with Monsignor Raymond Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment from 5-6p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2011, with a rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Ms. Jessica Patrick Wiggins, 31, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011, in Atmore.
Ms. Wiggins was a native of Canoe and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She attended the Baptist church.
She is survived by three sons, Timothy Robert Wiggins, Jimmy Lavon Wiggins and Henry Michael Wiggins, all of Bratt; her father, Benny and Carrie Patrick of Bratt; her mother, Nell Quick of Bratt; a sister, Brandy Michelle and Shane Machotka of Clarksville, TN; her grandmother, Jessie Swindle of Atmore; a nephew, Benjamin Allen Machotka of Clarksville, TN; a niece, Shyanne Machotka of Clarksville; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Eula Price and Sister Wanda Hadley officiating.
Burial will follow at Canoe Freewill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 19, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Edward A. Wilson, Dudley Wilson, Dudley Flowers, Kenneth Morrow, Lloyd Creamer and Josey Hadley.
Dot Harmon

Dot Harmon, 76, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 15, 2011.
Dot was born to the late James A. and Myrtle Goff on January 23, 1935, in Escatawpa, MS. The oldest of five children, Dot moved to Cantonment as a young girl. She graduated from Tate High School where she was drum majorette. While there she met the love of her life, Don. Upon graduation she was employed by St. Regis (International Paper), enjoying a career as an executive secretary.
Always gracious, Dot never met a stranger. Among her many passions was traveling with family and friends. She especially loved her trips to Europe, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and horseracing’s Triple Crown events. She instilled this love of adventure in her beloved daughter, DeLisa, and followed her virtually around the world.
This summer Dot and Don celebrated their golden anniversary with family and friends.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ann Crabtree; her brother Jimmy Goff; and her dear aunt, Eula Wyatt.
She is survived by her husband, Don; daughter, DeLisa Lou, of Manhattan; sister, Geri (Dave) of Cardiff, CA; brother, Larry (Lee); Gracie; sister-in-law, Eileen Goff; many special nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011, at Harper-Morris. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , 5401 Corporate Woods Dr., Suite #100, Pensacola, FL 32504.

Alice Mae James Cochran

Mrs. Alice Mae James Cochran, 95, of Atmore, died Monday, August 15, 2011.
Mrs. Cochran was a native of Freemanville and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She was a member of the Homemaker’s Club, a quilter for the Quilting Club, an accomplished oil painter, an avid gardener and a member of the Pine Level Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Cochran; five brothers, Arthur James, Herman James, Alvin James, Archie James and Dennis James; three sisters, Mattie Pearl Slay, Louise Thomley and Frances Lambert.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Ginger) Cochran of Atmore and Ronald “Lefty” (Judy) Cochran of Pace; a daughter, Sheila (Warren) Adams of Orange Beach; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sybil Baldwin of Riverside, CA.
Visitation services will be held Friday, August 19 from 1 p.m. until funeral time at Pine Level Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Elder Gene Freeland and Elder Gary James officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Level Cemetery with Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Craig Adams, Jeff Adams, Jim Cochran, Pat Lambert, Richard James and Terry Lambert. Honorary pallbearer will be John James.

Drake Boutwell, 15, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011 in Atmore.
Drake was a native of Pleasant Grove, AL, a former resident of Stanley Crossroads, AL, and a resident of Atmore. He was a student at Flomaton High School and attended the Moyeville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Roy Smith and Kenneth Boutwell, and his great-grandparents, Grover and Myrtle Smith and Lelia Boutwell .
He is survived by his father, Alton Ray and Genia Rutherford Boutwell of Stanley Crossroads; his mother, Jamie Boutwell and Jennifer Dykes of Atmore; three brothers, Justin Boutwell, Wyatt Rutherford and Rowdy Rutherford, all of Stanley Crossroads; two sisters, Jordyn Boutwell of Atmore and Shaina Boutwell of Stanley Crossroads; his grandparents, Gail Smith and Randal Miller of Stanley Crossroads, Betty Boutwell and Ralph Babineaux of Lake Charles, LA, Don and Beverly Ellis of Atmore, and Josephine Johnson of Poarch; his great-grandparents, Clark and Willonese Wooten of Pleasant Grove, and Willis and Voncile Ray of Canoe; six uncles, Kevin and Jessica Dykes of Pensacola, Bradley and Emily Dykes of East Brewton, Troy Boutwell of Pineview, AL, David and Kathy Smith of Poarch, Heith and Kimber Smith of Poarch, and Chad Alverson of Atmore; an Aunt, Skye DeSilvia of Atmore; eight cousins; and a number of great-uncles and great-aunts.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Joyner officiating.
Burial will follow at Moyeville Cemetery.

Wilda ‘Jean’ May

Wilda ‘Jean’ May, 77, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011. Jean died in Jay the community she loved, where she lived, worked and raised her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Judson ‘Ray’ May; her mother and father, James and Lois Bauldree and her brother, Winston Bauldree.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Virginia (Huston) Smith; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Bauldree and Maxine Ivey; her sons Gary (Dixie) and Christopher May; her beloved granddaughters, Rachel and Gena; her step-granddaughters Stacey (Casey) Casady, Ruston, LA, and Kelly (Chris) Hinnant, Pace; three great-granddaughters and many loving members of her extended family and community.
The family will meet friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 17,2011, at Jay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Jay First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Concord Primitive Baptist Church with reception to follow at the Jay First Baptist fellowship hall.
Elvin Ralph Price

Elvin Ralph Price of Cantonment departed this life on the 9th day of August 2011, at West Florida Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Price was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on the 22nd day of February 1929. His parents were Perry Price and Mildred Price and he had two sisters, Virginia and Pearl. He grew up in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, where he lived until he joined the United States Navy serving his country around the world until his retirement in 1976, and finally settling in Escambia County, Florida, until his death.
Surviving Mr. Price were his wife, Beulah Barnhill Price formerly of the Dixie Community in Escambia County, Alabama; five children Stephen Price, Edward Price, Gayle Larcom Cook, Ronald Larcom, and Kenneth Ard; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One son, Michael Price, preceded him in death.
Visitation was held Sunday, August 14, 2011, at the Eastern Gate Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at Charity Baptist Church on Roberts Road, Monday, August 15, 2011, from 10-11 a.m., and interment will follow at 11:45 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery on the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, with full military honors.
Evelyn Miller Thomas

Evelyn Miller Thomas, 83, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011.
Born on December 18, 1927, in Atmore, she grew up in Pensacola. She married Joseph Fred Thomas on March 23, 1947, and for many years they lived in Atlanta where Mr. Thomas was employed by Eastman Kodak.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Fred Thomas and a son, Ronald J. Thomas.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Martha T. Haney of Pensacola, Constance Moscoso of Duluth, GA, Mary T. Eads of Pace, Janice T. Daniell, of Conyers, GA, and Donna T. LeCroy of Pensacola; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Brasher Van Miller, Mobile, and Mariam Helton, Myrtle Beach. SC.

Evelyn Sawyer

Evelyn Sawyer, 93, of Cantonment, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2011. She has been a resident of Pensacola for over 50 years.
She is the loving and adored mother of three daughters, Ellon Garrett of Cantonment, Mary Ann Foster of Jupiter, Florida, and Barbara Beck of Pensacola. She has two granddaughters, two grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren, including two sets of twins.
Evelyn was born in Reader, Arkansas, in 1918, and was the youngest of six children. She married her childhood sweetheart Archie, who became a career Naval Aviator in 1941. Their military assignments afforded them the opportunity to live in many interesting locations, and they became permanent Pensacola residents upon his retirement in 1957. He became a successful home builder in Pensacola, and together they built their family home on 20 acres in Cantonment and raised their family.
Following Archie’s death in 2000, Evelyn continued to take great pride in maintaining the family home and showed a great talent for tending her gardens and growing exotic flowers. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Visitation and funeral services were held August 14, 2011, in the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola. Burial followed at the Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Pine Forest Road.
