Christine Carol Stewart

Christine Carol Stewart, known by her friends as Carol, passed away the morning of May 29, 2012m at the age of 51.

Carol was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of six weeks. She was a very loving person to everyone. She was always happy, cheerful and never met a stranger. In November of 2010, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She wouldn’t give up. She fought until she couldn’t anymore. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Augusta Stewart and Earnestine Stewart Dykes; brother, Tommy Bunn; both maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.

She is survived by four brothers, Herman “Buck” (Bessie) Stewart of Quintette, Carl Lee (Mary) Stewart of Jonesboro, TN, Joey (Denise) Jordan of Baker, Tim (Cathy) Jordan of Baker; eight sisters, Jerlain (David) Folk of Eryhardt, SC, Catherine (Will) Lowery of Molino, Alice Smith, of Pensacola, Rosie (Glen) Johnson of Dovelasdille, GA, Betty “Kay” (Willie) Smith of Pensacola, Sandy Madden of Quintette, Ann (Tracy) Ford and Linda Bauer, both of Pensacola, FL; several aunts and uncles; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and many friends at Cove Center. Se is also survived by special friend and second mom, Miss Nelly.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 2:45 pm at Pugh’s Chapel in Molino. Pallbearers will be Chester Stewart, Greg Jensen, Charles Stewart, Glenn Johnson, Harrison, Christopher Phelps and Leighton Stacey.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012, from 1-2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South in Cantonment.

Bessie Ann Moses

May 31, 2012

Bessie Ann Moses left us on May 25, 2012, as a loving and beloved mother and grandmother. She was a long time employee of Wal-Mart and known by many wonderful folks.

Ann was preceded in death by husband Fred Moses; brother, Wiley Johnston; and sisters, Beatrice and Mary Johnston, and second husband Ted Bobe.

She is survived by daughter Beth Brown and husband Lloyd of Cantonment; Dennis Moses and spouse Saundra of Kempner, TX; sister Earla Flippin and spouse James of Escanaba, MI; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her beloved schnauzer Lily.

Viewing was from 6-9 p.m. Monday May 28, 2012, at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home in Cantonment. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday May 29, 2012, at Faith Chapel North, with interment at Eastern Gate Memorial Cemetery.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Hwy 29 Cantonment, was in charge of the arrangements.

Ava Edwina (Ms. Bee) Reeves

Mrs. Ava Edwina ( Ms. Bee ) Reeves, passed away May 28, 2012, at home.

She is preceded in death by her parents James Leonard and Effie Lois Williams, sons Noah Anderson Green III, James Leonard Green, and daughter Sharon Kay Tonge.

She is survived by Cecil Eugene Reeves of Jay; daughters Mary Ann ( Tracy) Knight, Cross City, FL, Tammy Jane ( Scott ) Day, Milton,Lois JoAnn ( Oliver ) Jowers, Ocilla, GA;  12 grandchildren;  25 great grandchildren; two  great great grandchildren; her loving pet “Buddy”;, and a host of “ Special Angels “, who supported and cared for her during her battle with cancer.

She was a member of Cora Baptist Church and was known affectionately by her friends and neighbors as “ Ms. Bee”. She loved her family and her friends and was known for always doing something for others.

She was a faithful Christian and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a skilled seamstress and made garments for many years for her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m.. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Jay Funeral Home with Rev. LaDon Hall officiating . Visitation will be Wednesday May 30, 2012, at Jay Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers are Roger Cobb, Leroy Cobb, Donald Cobb, Silas Ballard, Larry Glover and Bill Cannon

Donald Ray McKinley

Donald Ray McKinley, age 56 of Escambia County, AL, passed away May 26, 2012, in Atmore. He was a former resident of Jay.

He was a very loving, caring and generous person and enjoyed meeting people. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend to those that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and Tony, and sister Sandra Lee.

He is survived by his father and stepmother John and Lillie McKinley, brothers Bobby and Mitchell, son Chris and daughter Angelia, two stepbrothers, four stepsisters and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Church Atmore with Rev Fred Burmitt and Rev. Thruyl Pearson officiating.

Jerry Alston

Mr. Jerry Alston, 62, passed away on May 25, 2012, in Mobile.

Mr. Alston was a native of Atmore and has lived in Bay Minette for the past 4 years.

Mr. Alston was co-owner of Alston Brothers Lawn & Tractor and Mobile director of Maintenance of Trucking Company.

He was preceded in death by his father Bob Alston.

Survivors include his mother, Marie Alston of Atmore; wife, Deborah Alston of Bay Minette; son, Jerry Bradford Alston-US Navy;  two daughters, Angelia (Ronnie) Brown of Bratt and Hayden Amanda Alston of Bay Minette; two brothers, Larry (Dianne) Alston of Mobile and Sam (Beth) Alston of Mobile; and grandchild Cailtin Brown.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson and Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 26, 2012, from 1 p.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Rick Dees, Tommy Dees, Kenny Cole, David Tillery, Yancy Harold and Pat McCabe.

Donald Lynn Schmidt

May 26, 2012

Donald Lynn Schmidt, 53 of Bratt, passed away Friday May 25, 2012, in Pensacola. He was a farmer and carpenter, born on June 16, 1958, in Turlock County, CA, to Sam S. and Lavaunda Schmidt. He will be remembered as a big hearted person, and he loved to give.

He is preceded in death by a son, Darrell Walker.

Survivors are his wife, Susan Hadley Schmidt of Bratt; son, Ron Moore of Saraland; daughter, Kelly Wall of Pensacola; his parents, Sam and Lavaunda Schmidt of Scotia, NE; three grandchildren, Austin Wall, Lily Moore and Waylon Moore; three brothers, Maynard Schmidt and wife Karen of Scotia, NE; Galen Schmidt and wife Rosalie of Walnut Hill, Chester Schmidt of Bratt; two sisters Delilah Wilson of Atmore, Mary Koehn and husband Evan of Scotia, NE; and any friends.

Services will be Monday May 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Walnut Hill Mennonite Church with Bro. Brian Decker and Bro. Earl Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Scott Nightengale, Doyle Nightengale, Randy Nightengale, Jermey Young, Josh Ray, Rick Cooper, Scott Stevens and Mark Hall.

Anne Seaman McDonald

Anne Seaman McDonald, 81, of Cantonment passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Isaac O. McDonald, son, Michael McDonald of Washington, D.C., daughter, Taunya (Dubon) Pierce of Pensacola, Florida, grandsons, Trey and Todd Pierce of Pensacola, Florida, and a host of nieces and nephews, friends, and extended church family.

Even though life on this earth has ended for Anne, her eternal life with her heavenly Father has just begun. She was a devoted Christian, a loving mother and Nana, and a wife of noble character as described in Proverbs 31:10-31.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens. Funeral Services will be noon Saturday, May 26, 2012, at East Side Assembly of God. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.

Edward Allen “Poppy” Presley

Edward Allen “Poppy” Presley, 54 of Nokomis, AL, passed away Wednesday May 23, 2012, in Atmore. He was employed by Masland Carpets for over 25 years as a die manager. He was born in Atmore to James O. and Jacquelyn Daniel Presley, Jr. on October 18, 1957.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Perlie and Leona Daniel; Ollie and Gladys Presley and his father-in-law, Ronald Strawbridge.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Strawbridge Presley;  one son, Troy Allen Presley; two daughters, Allison Presley Wynn and Anna Presley all of Nokomis, AL;  his parents James and Jackie Presley; one brother, Mark D. Presley; one sister, Laura Presley Smith and husband, Don all of Nokomis, AL; six grandchildren, Cole Wynn, Cameron Wynn, Chasen Wynn, Ceanna Wynn, Cierra Wynn and Troy Edward Presley; nieces, Kelley Presley, Stephanie Maddox and husband Walt of Tuscaloosa, AL; nephew, Eric Roberts and wife, Morgan; mother-in-law, Loyce Strawbridge; brother-in-law, Tommy Strawbridge and wife, Janet; sister-in-law, Sherry Daniel and husband, Dennis; nephews, Travis Daniel and wife, Jessie; Josh Daniel, niece, Jill Davis; nephews, Brandon Strawbridge and wife, Mandy, and Brian Strawbridge and wife, Megan.

Services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012, at noon at Atmore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Davis and Rev. Dennis Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Nokomis Baptist Cemetery.

Essie Mae Chavers

Mrs. Essie Mae Chavers, age 89, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012, in the Brewton hospital.

Mrs. Chavers was a native and life long resident of the Wallace community. She taught school at the A.D. Kelley school in Wallace for a number of years, and volunteered for the National Weather Service for 50 years. She was a member of Hanberry Holiness Church. Mrs. Chavers was preceded in death by her husband, Lee C. Chavers; a son, Floyd Chavers; two brothers, Leonard Pettis, and Cleve Pettis; and a sister, Voncile Chavers.

She is survived by her son, Elton (Jackie Windham) Chavers of Bon Secour; one daughter, Kathryn (Leonard) Conrad of Wallace; four brothers, Howard Pettis of Mobile, Coley Pettis of Mobile, Claude Pettis of Theodore, and Allen D. Pettis of Wallace; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Pettis and Rev. Wilbur “Gam” Graves officiating. Interment will follow in Hanberry Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hanberry Holiness Church Cemetery Fund.

Leonard B. “Lennie” Daniels

May 25, 2012

Leonard B. “Lennie” Daniels, age 81 of Cantonment, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

Mr. Daniels was the co- owner/operator of Daniels Ellis Electrical Supply Company for over 50 years. He was a member of East Brent Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family with all of his heart, he put God first in everything he did. A good and honest man who was non-judgmental. He was a best friend “to many”. He led by example. He always said that “there is a right way, a wrong way and God’s way”. His employees always said of him that no matter how difficult times were, Lennie always kept the faith.

He is preceded in death by one grandson, Riley Daniels; five sisters, Vera Strickland, Lynette Brown, Johnnie Baggett, Addie Lee Hall and Margie Parker and one brother, Walter Daniels.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gwynne Daniels; three children, Zeta Gornick (Joe), Angie Gilmore (Mark) and Mike Daniels (Gena); five grandchildren, Rachel Parker, Brandon Gilmore, Chad Gornick, Justin Gilmore and Reagan Daniels; one great-grandson, Carson Parker; one brother, James W. Daniels; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Doyle Mobley,Enzor Kimbro, Gary Bedgood, Charlie Martin, John W. Ellis, James Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Gilmore and Lennie’s Sunday school class.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Brent Baptist Church Building Fund, 4801 North Davis Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32503, or The Ronald McDonald House, 5200 Bayou Blvd. Pensacola, FL 32503.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012, at East Brent Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
