Frances Juanita Watford

Frances Juanita Watford (Miss Juanita), 86 of Atmore, departed this life Monday on May 21, 2012, in Atmore. She was employed with Graham Oil Co., the Wildlife Federation, and many years with Masland Carpets. She was born in Lottie, AL, on October 14, 1925, to the late Ben Davis and Ellen Whitney Watford.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Ben Davis Watford, Jr. and Grady Watford.
She is survived by four nieces, Brenda Yeatman of Gastonia, NC, Tina Mirkheshti of Canton, GA, Debbie Patridge of Castle Rock, CO, and Tammy Watford of Littleton, CO; and many friends.
Services will be Thursday May 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. from hte Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Thorpe officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Michael Phillips, Terry Jones, Theotis Williams, Johnny Gibbs, Ray Coon and Bill Staff.

James Vinson Nix

Mr. James Vinson Nix, age 43, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, in Mobile. Mr. Nix was born in Evergreen and had lived in Flomaton for a number of years. He worked in the lawn care maintenance field. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his father, Mr. James A. Nix of Flomaton; one son, Allen Nix of Century; three daughters, Ashley Nix, Lindsey Nix, and Britney Nix, all of Century; one sister, Sunji Hunter of Century.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. William Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Maggie Case Myers

Mrs. Maggie Case Myers, age 95 of Pensacola, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at a Milton health care facility.
Mrs. Myers was a native of Franklin County, MS, and had been a member of the Century community since 1957 and a resident of Pensacola for the last eight years. She was a member of the Flomaton Senior Citizens Group and the Century First Baptist Church. Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Thomas Leroy Myers and their son, Richard William Myers, and grandson, Kenneth Myers, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Fred (Judith) Myers, and Ken (Priscilla) Myers, both of Pensacola; brother, Prentiss William Case, Jr. of Ridgeland, MS; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, May 23, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jesse Woods officiating. Interment will be in Flomaton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Edsel Smith, Lloyd Barrow, Joe Gunter, Delmar Tew, Lee Gunter and Steve Drain.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Century First Baptist Church or to the Hospice of Santa Rosa County in Milton.
Kenneth D. Moore

Kenneth D. Moore, 41 of Bay Minette, passed away Wednesday May 16, 2012, in Atmore. He was an corrections officer with Alabama Department of Corrections. He was born on January 30, 1971, in Erie County, NY, to Sylvester and Dorothy Oates Moore.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Moore.
Survivors are his wife Deborah Gail Howard Moore, son D.J. Howard;,daughter Dejia Moore, all of Bay Minette; mother Dorothy Oates Moore of Brewton; three brothers, John Lovelace, Robert Moore and Michael Moore all of Buffalo, NY; sister Jacqueline Stevens of Brewton; aunt Patricia Moore of Buffalo, NY; three uncles, John Fanning and wife, Marilyn of Buffalo, Jerry Fanning and wife, Evelyn of Andalusia, AL, Johnny McCreary of Pensacola; nieces and nephews Michelle Moore, Tashawna Perkins, Robert Moore II, Desiree Moore, Nnenaha Moore, Jessica Moore, Quincey Strothers, Myranda Hyde; great niece and nephew, Alyiah Smith and Eugene Anderson III; and may friends.
Services will be Monday May 21, 2012, at 4 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore with the prison chaplin officiating.
Family will receive friends, Sunday evening May 20, 2012, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 4:30-8 p.m., And again on Monday May 21, 2012, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until noon.

Mr. Charles Edward Hall

Mr. Charles Edward Hall, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. in Biloxi.
Mr. Hall was a native of Walnut Hill and a resident of Cantonment for the past 12 Years. Mr. Hall was a member of the VFW, DAV, a veteran of Vietnam, and a retired United States Marine where he served 22 years as Master Sergeant.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Angel Hall, parents Edison and Christin Hall and a sister Mary Hall Freeman.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hall of Cantonment; son, Jesse Hall of Canoe; one stepson, John Bray of Cantonment; two brothers, Joe Hall of Walnut Hill and John Hall of Bay Springs, MS; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Petty Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Gipson officiating.
Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2012, from 6-9 p.m.. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

James Michael Caspar

James Michael Caspar, 52, of Cantonment, passed away on May 16, 2012.
James loved to fish, hunt, and read. He was multi-talented and good with his hands. James could draw and create anything out of wood. He also loved to work and was a welder, pipefitter and crane operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Myrtle Caspar.
Survivors include: wife, Michelle; daughter, Ashley (John) Chance; sons, Justin and Charlie Caspar; grandchild, Hunter Chance; siblings, Fred (Connie) Caspar and Glenda (Marvin) Thorne; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until memorial service begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the funeral home with Elder Glenn Daniel of The Church of God of Cantonment.

James was a kind-hearted and well-liked man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Samuel Dudley Copeland

Samuel Dudley Copeland, age 82 of Santa Rosa County, died on May 17, 2012. He was a lifetime resident of Santa Rosa County and deacon of New Vision Baptist Church. He was retired from the US Army where he served in Vietnam and the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of two bronze stars. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lucille Copeland; son, David Keith Copeland; sister, Jeanette Houston and brothers, Edward and Theodore (Ted) Copeland.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda Copeland; daughter, Mary Copeland of Jay; sons, Sam (Susan) Copeland of Jay, Robert Copeland of Milton, Rick Copeland of Houston, TX, Danny (Dana) Copeland of Jay, and Caleb (Holly) Copeland of Jay; sister, Hortense (Horace) Sullivan and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 4-6 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home. Services will begin at 6 p.m. with son, Caleb Copeland officiating services with full military honors.

Mamie L. Morris – our precious and loving mother/grandmother passed into her eternal resting place on May 14, 2012.
Mrs. Morris was born on January 31, 1918. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband (Corbon), daughter (Yvonnia) and grandson (Ricky).
She is survived by two sons, Raymond Morris, Harold (Barbara) Morris; daughter Gladys (Steve) Rowell all of Munson; eightwonderful grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Jay Funeral Home with Bro. Duke Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Jay Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Baxley, Stewart Baxley, Phil Cohron, Allen Qualls, Westel Cabaniss, and Gary Cabaniss

Joseph Edward King

Joseph Edward King, 75, of Cantonment, passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2012, comfortably in his home surrounded by family. Joseph was born in Fitchburg, MA. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force with three tours in Vietnam as a security police, retiring in 1990 after 16 years with E.C. S. D. corrections.
Since retiring, he worked as a security guard with CCI and Wells Fargo; also grounds maintenance at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Eastern Gate cemeteries. The past nine years, Joe worked part-time as maintenance supervisor with Premier Chemicals. During this time he also did lawn maintenance in several area cemeteries.
Joe was a very loving husband, Dad, grandpaw “POPS” and devoted friend. He was a very hard working man; he loved the outdoors, cutting grass and cleaning head stones. His favorite past time was to find his TV “clicker” and watch the history channel and old classic movies. He enjoyed being a Mason and spending time at the lodge with his “brothers”. He loved singing gospel songs sitting on the bed playing his guitar and harmonica with his grandbabies. Joe loved the Lord, his Savior and really enjoyed singing in many church choirs. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill. In 1977, Joe became a mason at Ensley Lodge #278. He held many offices and served on many committees locally and with Grand Lodge. In 1989, he was Worshipful Master of #278. Joe was also Scottish Rite and Zelica Grotto. He was honorary member of several lodges. Joe spent many nights mentoring his brothers. His lodge brothers are truly part of our family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Blanche King and his brother Mitchell King, Jr.
Joe was survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carolyn King, brother Dickie King and Ronnie (Teresa) King; 10 children; April King Randolph, Edward (Satomi) King, Julia Speed, Edna King, Misty (Carl) Stephens, Tim McGlothren, Shelley (Joe) Brown, Stacey (Chris) Ziglar, Mitchell (Tammy) King, Cammie Wright, 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Friday, May 18, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Faith Chapel North-Cantonment.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel North-Cantonment. Graveside will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Serving, as pallbearers will be his Masonic brothers from all area lodges. Rev. Drayton Smith and Rev. Mark Torres will be officiating.

Thelma Peacock King

Mrs. Thelma Peacock King, age 102, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Atmore Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. King was a native of Byrneville and had been a member of the Atmore community since 1944 coming from Byrneville. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Earl D. King of Atmore; daughters, Thelma ‘Tina’ Christine Lowell of Atmore, Marie Jackson of Pensacola, Margaret McCourt of Navarre, Pauline Floyd of Montgomery; sister, Mary Morris of Jay; 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, May 19, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held graveside on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Atmore.
