Murdick Barfield

Mr. Murdick Barfield, age 90, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Joyce Goldenburg Hospice Residence in Pensacola.
Mr. Barfield was a member of the Bratt community for over 65 years, a World War II veteran and longtime member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church. During his working years, Mr. Barfield worked in the shipping department at St. Regis Paper Company and retired as the manager of Harvesters Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with family.
His sister, Myrtle Pettis, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice Barfield; son Don, (Lillian) Barfield of Pensacola; daughter, Diane (Wayne) Baker of Bratt; four grandchildren, Miranda Brooks, Scott Baker, Stephanie Lamar, and Jessica Barfield; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Brooks, Tanner Brooks, Taylor Baker, Jack Lamar, Kelton Wooten and Brandy Wooten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Faith Chapel North with Reverend Gene Pickern and Tony Bolton officiating. Interment will be in the Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Baker, Tim Pettis, Malcolm Peacock, Terry Bolton, David Brown, and Doug Purvis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola.
A special thank you to his loving caretakers at the hospice residence.
Angela Ann Long

Angela Ann Long, 49, of Molino, was taken from us on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Angela was born in Pensacola and was a loving wife to William R. Long and mother to Alisha Ann Long. As a young child Angela accepted Christ and became a member of Olive Baptist Church. She worked at Chet’s Seafood for 15 years, where she had many “regular” customers. Angela spent many years as a cheerleading coach for the Cantonment Cowboys when her daughter was young.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Otis Davie; grandmother, Zula Gray Davie; father-in-law, William R. Long, Sr.; and mother-in-law, Mary B. Long.
Angela is survived by her husband of 29 years, William “Robby” Long; daughter, Alisha Ann Long of Pensacola; mother, Charlotte Davie Gunn of Pensacola; father, Robert Gunn of Pace; sister, Kimberly Ann Gunn of Pensacola; sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn “Sherhea” Morrow (Mark), Carolyn Dzombar (Kevin), and Bobbie Jo Burns (Bo).
Pallbearers will be Wiley Baxter, Warren Cross, Ashley Davie, Gabe Davie, Billy Day, and Tommy Plunkett. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Burns, Christopher Day, Kevin Dzombar, Mark Morrow, and Paul Reneau.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Gwyn officiating.
A memorial fund has been set up for Angela through her co-workers and friends at Chet’s Seafood. If you wish to make a memorial contribution, they are being accepted at ECCO Credit Union under Angela Long Memorial Fund in Pace.
Andrew Leonard Robinson

Andrew Leonard Robinson joined his loved ones in Heaven on Sunday, October 21, 2012. He was born August 1, 1918, in Uriah, where he was raised.
He was the second oldest of nine children born to E. Walter Robinson and Alma Castillow Robinson. He resided in Pensacola since 1946 after returning from a tour in North Africa with the Air Force during World War II. Being raised during the Great Depression greatly influenced the rest of his life. He learned to be self-reliant and a “jack of all trades”. A.L. was self-employed and a terrific salesman for the majority of his life. He was a grocery store owner in the 1950’s and 1960’s with his wife Melba and also an encyclopedia salesman during this same time. In the 1970’s and 1980’s he became a landlord to small rental properties. Lastly, in the 1980’s and 1990’s he traveled to different venues selling adjustable beds and chairs. He loved collecting various things which made him quiet the wheeler dealer. His loving family will always remember him for spinning yarns and making up songs for everyone’s entertainment, especially the grandchildren.
Preceding A.L. in death was his wife of 64 years, Melba V. Hamilton (2006), and youngest son, Randall L. Robinson (1995); brothers, W.J., Raymond, Kenneth Jr. Robinson and sister Annie Lou Prestwood.
He is survived by two sons, Ronnie “Robby” (Lynn) Robinson and Riley (Suzanne) Robinson both of Cantonment; one daughter, Rita (Tommy) Bowen of Pensacola; ten grandchildren, Kelly (Paul) Bullington of Fairhope, Kaye (Craig) Worley of Pensacola, Will Robinson of Cantonment, Matt (Adella) Cushing of Pensacola, Nicole (Robert) Hunnicutt of Alpharetta, GA., Heather (Mike) Giusti of Clyde, N.C., John Robinson of Gulf Breeze, Ryan Robinson of Senoia, GA., Beth (Chris) Ford of Shalimar, and Michael (Casey) Robinson of Midlothian, VA; and sisters, Inez Davis, Vernel Lee and Bernice Robinson.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with services following at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Cemetery.

Jewel C. Egee, 69, of Milton, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012.
Mrs. Egee was a born in Pensacola on June 17, 1943, and had resided in Milton for several years.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Victory Assembly of God Church, 1895 Victory Road, Molino. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Elsie Lee Goshert, 58, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in Jay.
Mrs. Goshert was a native and life long resident of Century, Florida. She was an ordained minister.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Goshert of Century, one son, Chris Goshert of Century; one daughter, Trudie Routley of Jay; two brothers, Elery James Tedder of Byrneville and Robert Tedder of Atmore and two grandchildren.

Aaron Austin

Aaron Austin, 34, of Pensacola, died Saturday, October 13, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Aaron was born April 18, 1978, in Pensacola and has been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Pine Forest High School Class of 1996.
Aaron was employed with the ECSO, a job he dearly loved. He retired after 9 yrs. of service due to his illness. Aaron enjoyed the sport of boxing and was a referee for many local matches. He had a winning smile and was fun to be around. He enjoyed his family and many friends. If you were a friend of Aaron’s you knew he was a “true friend”.
Aaron was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Gail Austin; grandfather, Raymond Smith, and grandmother, Helen Austin.
He leaves behind many loving memories and to cherish these memories are, the light of his life, his daughter, Avery Austin or as he called her “Toot”; father, Terry Austin; brothers and sisters-in-law whose bonds were tight and precious to him, Mike and Laine Austin, Stephen and Danielle Austin; grandmother, Louise Smith, nieces whom he called “his girls”, Katelyn, Kenzie, Kamryn, Kadyn and Kelsey; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and his many “special friends” too numerous to name and all of his co-workers at ECSO.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 5 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Gordon Godfrey officiating and Jamal Brown assisting.
Active pallbearers will be, Joe Urquhart, Caleb Hazel, Steven Houghland, Allen Jones, Shane Sherock, Pat Roush, Eddie McLain and Matt Waite.
Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Penelope Diamond Mayne (Penny)

Penelope Diamond Mayne (Penny), age 72 of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away October 13, 2012, at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Mayne was born October 30, 1939 in Memphis, to the late Luther and Dorothy Diamond, where she lived until the age of seven, at which time they moved to Jay. Mrs. Mayne was
a member of Cora Baptist Church in Jay. She never met a stranger and never hesitated to share what she had with others. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang over 50 years in the Cora Baptist choir. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be missed more than words can be expressed.
Mrs. Mayne is preceded in death by her late husband George E. Mayne, Jr.; father, Luther Diamond; mother, Dorothy Cochran Diamond; and long time friend, Lonnie J. McCulley, Jr.
Survivors include her son, George E. Mayne, III of Columbia, TN; daughter, Jennifer Mayne Lane (James) of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Zachary and Caitlin Lane of Columbia, TN; brothers, Jay M. Diamond (Terry) of Mary Ester and Stuart M. Diamond (Susan) of Jay; niece, Cheri Diamond; nephews, John Diamond, Duane Diamond, Dustin Diamond, Drew Diamond and Dillon Diamond; and daughter of heart, Judy Austin of Columbia, TN.
Active pallbearers will be John M. Diamond, Mickey Diamond, Chad Diamond, Danny Carnley, Joe Edwards, and Alan Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers are Randall Lockett, Merlin Edwards, Roger Dobson, Marshall Diamond, and Russ Hammac.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church in Jay.
Services will be held Friday, October 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Cora Baptist Church in Jay with Rev. La Don Hall and Rev. Bud Docter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cora Baptist Church Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and is in charge of arrangements.
We would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Ball and staff, and Maury Regional Medical Center nurses for the wonderful care that she received. Also a very special thanks to Alice Staggs for the wonderful care and friendship that she provided to mom over the last few years.

Larry Williamson

Larry Williamson, age 53 of Jay, died on the river on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
His talent with woodworking and as a handyman was well known. His ability and desire to help others with his practical talents allowed him to show his affection for those he assisted, and to take pride in a job well done. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a loving and devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He truly made the world a better place with his easy smile, quick humor, and boundless love. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Barry Williamson.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Jana) Williamson; daughter, Chassity N. (Fred) Bowles; grandchildren, Caiden Bowles and Alyssa Young; mother, Mary (Milton) Rogers; sister, Julie (Richard) Zimmers; nieces, Jessica Gilbert and Rebecca Zimmers, and his best friend LuLu the dog.
Visitation will be held on October 16, 2012, from 5 until 6 pm at Jay Funeral Home with services beginning at 6:00 pm.

Mrs. Mary Magdalene Roberson, 89, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012, in Brewton.
Mrs. Roberson was a native of Moyeville, AL and a resident of Brewton for the past 26 years. Mrs. Roberson was the oldest member of Moyeville Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Roberson; parents, Dee and Julia Moye; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Aubrey (Pug) Roberson of Poarch; one daughter, Mattie Robbins of Brewton; one sister, Lucille Roberson of Pensacola; five grandchildren, Angela (Tony) Gresham, Kim Forbus, Marlene (David) McNairn, James Roberson and Chad Robbins; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Ward officiating.
Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Roberson, Chad Robbins, Ronald Burkett, Jason Forbus, Justin Forbus and Reece McNairn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Drake Robbins, Micah McNairn and Payton Robbins.

Peggy F. Emmitt, age 81 of Cantonment, passed away on Oct. 11, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ethel Ryals and Ed Charles Franklin. Peggy is survived by her two daughters, Connie Barberi and Margie (Rick) Coleman; one adopted daughter, Susan (Jerald) Vickery; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Wilson, Jennifer (Jake) Barberi, James (Jenna) Coleman; great grandchildren, Kailyn Meyer, Cash Wilson, Kyleigh Meyer and one more great grandson on the way; former husband and still great friend Cecil Emmett.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Denise, Andy, Angela and all the other nurses at West Florida CCU.
There will be no public services per Peggy’s request.
