Mattie Mae Steadham Driver

Mattie Mae Steadham Driver, 75 of McDavid, passed away on April 2, 2013, in Pensacola, surrounded by her family. Mattie was born in McCullough, Alabama on September 4, 1937, to Wallace and Della Steadham. She was a lifelong resident of McDavid and retired after approximately 35 years from Monsanto. She was blessed with a talent of growing beautiful flowers and cooking for others. She enjoyed being outdoors, working in her yard, fishing with her grandchildren and visiting with family and friends. Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Della Steadham, a sister, two brothers Bob and Ben Steadham, her son, and grandson Rusty Fisher.
She is survived by her daughters, Rita (John) Fisher of Pensacola and Sue (Dwight) Hopkins of McDavid; three grandchildren, Helena Hopkins of McDavid, SGT. Hopkins, Tristan (SPC Hopkins Melanie) of Ansbach, Germany and Brandon Fisher of Pensacola; one brother, “Bo” Dudley Steadham of McDavid; sister, Margaret Kimmons of Jay; many nieces and nephews and best friend, Jean Boatner of Pensacola.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating. Burial will follow in Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include SGT. Hopkins, Tristan, Brandon Fisher, Kenny McDonald, Jack Boatner, David Boatner, Alfred “Bubba” Kimmons, Jeff Steadham and Doug Walker.

Michael Chase Kaylor

Michael Chase Kaylor, age 18, of Damascus Road in Brewton, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013. He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, Alabama. Chase was a member of Pleasant Hill Holiness Church. He was a former student of W.S. Neal High School. He was a senior at Sparta Academy and played on the Sparta Academy football team as well as the All Star football team. He was Enrolled at La Grange College in the nursing program, and was musically talented with the guitar, violin, piano.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, Walter Dennison and brother, Jordan Kaylor.
Survivors include his mother, Angelia Cardwell Kaylor of Brewton; father, Mike Kaylor of Linden, Alabama ; four brothers, Jonathan (Sarah) Stricklin of Brewton, Caleb Kaylor of Brewton, Trent Kaylor of Monroeville, and Hunter Mullins of Brewton; three sisters, Shanea Kaylor, Jaidan Kaylor and Hannah Kaylor, all of Brewton; grandparents, Johnny and Barbara Cardwell of Brewton; grandmother, Joyce Ann Dennison of Linden; nephew, Hunter Stricklin of Brewton, special family, Tripp, Angie, and Jacob Hendrix of Evergreen and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held Monday night April 8, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at W.S. Neal High School Auditorium in East Brewton.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Weaver Cemetery.

Mr. Keith Allen Rolin, 41, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Atmore.
Mr. Rolin was a native of Atmore and a resident of Canoe, AL for most of his life.
Survivors include his parents, Clarence & Dianne Rolin of Canoe; wife, Anja Scheel Rolin of Germany; two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Rolin and Johnny Ray (Tonya) Rolin, both of Canoe; and one sister, Debra (Clayton) Coon of Atmore.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel with Rev. Martin Gehman officiating.
Burial will follow at the New Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Kevin Michael Roland Small

Kevin Michael Roland Small, born November 11, 1970, passed away on March 30, 2013.
Kevin loved sports, coaching T-ball, motorcycles, boating, fishing, and home improvement projects and was a very devoted father who would do anything for his family and friends who was always willing to lend a hand. Kevin was also a fun-loving, outgoing joke-teller who always “lit up a room” and lived life “full throttle”. Additionally, Kevin worked for G.E. for 10 years as a project engineer and was also honorably sischarged from the U.S. Marines where he served as an M1 Abrams tank mechanic and CH-46 Crewchief. Additionally, Kevin served in the Army Reserve as an H-60 Blackhawk Medivac Crewchief and had recently transferred to the 146th Florida National Guard Expeditionary Signal Battalion where he’d completed 15 years of service.
Kevin was preceded in death by his great uncle and namesake, James Roland Johnson and is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lindsey Melton-Small; daughters Sydney and Madison; son, Evan; mother, Beverly D. Sparks; father, Ken Small, Jr.; sister, Michelle Flowers; brother, Ken Small III; grandmother, Aline White; great aunt, Jeanette Johnson as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Ken Small, Jr., Ken Small III, Donnie Fischer, Franco Antonetti, Ernie Melton and Matt Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Account has been set up for his children, Sydney, Madison and Evan at Pen Air Federal Credit Union, 1495 E. Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534 in the name of Kevin Small Memorial Account.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Amy Theresa Ketch-Leitch

Amy Theresa Ketch-Leitch, 24, of Pensacola, passed away unexpectedly on March, 28, 2013. Amy, the daughter of Phil and Lorna Ketch, was born February 25, 1989 in Caribou, Maine.
Amy moved to Pensacola in August 2006. Amy was well versed in classical piano, and taught private lessons in high school. She broadened her musical repertoire by taking up the cello. She excelled in cello while keeping her piano skills sharp. Amy graduated high school in 2007.
Amy married Caleb Leitch in May of 2007, and gave birth to her son, Jayden James Carter, whom she loved and adored, in July 2008. With an intense desire to help people, Amy graduated from Fortis College with her associate’s degree in 2009, and became a medical assistant for Baptist Healthcare. Her youthful vibrancy enabled her to transfer her musical passion into her work as a medical assistant. She often spoke of how she enjoyed helping people through her work. Amy was preparing to continue her education to become an R.N., so that her range of care for others would be extended. Her beauty and compassion for family, friends, and strangers is unmatched. She is resting eternally with her Savior Jesus Christ.
Amy leaves behind her husband, Caleb; son, Jayden; parents, Phil and Lorna Ketch of Pensacola; sister, Danielle Poorman and husband Chad and their daughter Chloe, of Jackson, Tennessee; paternal grandparents, Philip and Gloria Ketch of Caribou, Maine; maternal grandmother, Norma Bouchard of Herman, Maine, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. We shall remember her with that familiar smile and unique giggle.
There will be a viewing from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Mrs. Gayle Delois Summerlin, 70 of Atmore, passed away March 29, 2013, in Atmore. She was born March 10, 1943, in Huxford. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Bessie Mae Beasley Lane; husbandm, Glendal Summerlin and eight brothers.
She is survived by her children, Allen Etheridge and Cynthia Thompson both of Atmore; brother, Jack Lane of Milton; two sisters Shirley (Ray) Conway of Pensacola and Joyce Davis of Fayetteville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Stacey and Rev. Jake Bondurant officiating. Burial will follow in Serenity Gardens.

Pamela Henderson Mathis

Pamela Henderson Mathis, 62, of Century, passed away at 5 p.m. on March 28, 2013, at her home in Century surrounded by her family.
Pamela was born in Atmore on June 18, 1950, to Vivian “Red” Henderson and Annie Mae Henderson. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, James “Dooley” Mathis, her daughter Pamela (Bob) Evans, her sister Sue (Wayne) Johnson, and brother Tommy Henderson.
She was a lifelong resident of Century and graduated from Century High School in 1968. Despite a disability caused by childhood polio, she went on to become an educator for 32 years, earn a master’s degree in history and a specialist degree in education. She was the first teacher in Escambia Countyto earn a National Teaching Certificate from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She retired from education as principal of Ernest Ward Middle School.
She loved showing and riding horses, traveling with her daughter to rodeos, fishing, watching movies, and taking trips with her family, and her best friend “Joy”. In the final chapter of her life, she was comforted by her dear Jack Russell terrier, “Bailey”.
Pamela is preceded in death by her parents, “Red” and Annie Mae Henderson, her brother Robert “Bobby” Henderson and Don Henderson.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on April 5th, 2013. at 6 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Jimmie Lackey

Jimmie Lackey, 91, of Molino, left his earthly home on Friday, March 29. He is now with Jesus and reunited with the love of his life, Mary Louise, and grandson, Adam. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Julian and his sisters, Edna and Jean.
He is survived by his children, Bill (Connie) Lackey, Walter (Karen) Lackey, Joyce (Wayne) Boor and Jean (Mercer) Sport; grandchildren, Brian, Marcus, David, Eric, Josh, Elizabeth, Haleigh, Hunter, and Heather; great-grandchild, Jack; brother, Buster Lackey and sister, Alice Wallis.
He grew up in Palmetto, FL, and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Jimmie worked as a mail carrier for 40 years. In 1958, they moved their family to Molino and settled down in “Lackeyland”. He enjoyed planting a garden, raising cattle and selling wigglers from his “worm bed”. He loved to sit on the porch and play his harmonica with the birds. Fishing on the Escambia River was his favorite hobby. He was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Jimmie worked hard and loved his family. He made friends with everyone. He was kind and loved to help anyone he could.

Col. Walton “Wally” Charles Nichols

Col. Walton “Wally” Charles Nichols, Jr. USAF, retired, 83, passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on March 27, 2013. He was born November 17, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Walton Charles Nichols, Sr. and Geraldine Wright Nichols.
Walton proudly served his country in the US Air Force, enjoying a great career as a pilot, a base civil engineer at Traux Field, Madison, Wisconsin, and as commander of Volk Field Air National Guard Training Base, Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, where he received the Legion of Merit award in 1986 after retiring to New Mexico in 1985.
After the death of his first wife, Rosemary, 1980, Wally met and married Myrtle Anne Paul and after several moves, they settled in Pensacola in 1993. Together they enjoyed traveling and serving Christ where mission needs arose.
Walton, known to his friends as “Wally”, was a man of joy, very fun loving—making others laugh so easily with his jovial spirit. He loved the Lord Jesus and was a faithful servant at Pine Summit Baptist Church, Pensacola, serving on the mission team and singing in the celebration choir until his health prevented him from participating. He was an avid golfer with his sons and friends and a staunch Green Bay Packers fan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Anne, and his seven children: Trina (Steve) Falk, Ankeny, IA, John (Claudette) Nichols, Apple Valley, MN, Dan (Gail)) Nichols, Kansas City, MO, Rick (Mary Ann) Nichols, Stillwater, MN, Stacie (Pat) O’Leary, Mendora Heights, MN, Pete (Dori) Nichols, Albuquerque, NM and Tom (Jennifer) Nichols, Delafield, WI. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three brothers; Robert (Dennie) Nichols, Green Bay, WI, Richard (Diane) Nichols, Albuquerque, NM; and David (Karen) Nichols, Greenville, SC. He shared Anne’s family as though they were his own; Sam (Charlene) Hurlbut, Pensacola; Leslie Hurlbut, Biloxi, MS; and Melissa (Jeff) Brock, West Seneca, NY; and Anne’s seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 1000 Chemstrand Road, Cantonment, FL 32533.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with funeral service at 11 a.m. at Pine Summit Baptist Church.
A funeral will also be conducted at a later date in Madison, Wisconsin, with Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home conducting.

Sgt. Lamar Junior Crutchfield, USAF (Ret.), age 83, passed away Wednesday night March 27, 2013, in a Pensacola nursing facility after a brief illness. He was native of Range, AL, A long time resident of Pensacola and Century, before moving to Daphne six years ago. Mr. Crutchfield was of the Methodist faith, He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force and retired with 28 years of service, during his military career he was stationed in Tokyo, Japan, and Anchorage, Alaska, Eglin Air Force Base, Maxwell Air Force Base, and Norton Air Force Base in California, and also served in Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Crutchfield was the former owner/operator of Crow’s/Freds Diner.
He is survinged by his wife- uth Milstead Crutchfield of Daphne, Alabama, two sons, Harold Crutchfield of Daphne, Dennis (Juanita) Crutchfield of Spanish Fort; two daughters, Sharon (Mike) McDonald of Daphne, Sherry Bell of Daphne; one brother, Marvin Crutchfield of Brewton; three sisters, Ruby Hendricks of Pace, Cora Lee James of Brewton, Mary Lou Trawick of Montgomery; five grandchildren, Brandy (Scott) Rappa, Andrew Crutchfield, Josh Crutchfield, Tosha Cain, Tegan Cain; and two great grandchildren, Nathan Rappa and Emma Rappa.
