Carra Taylor

Carra Taylor passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2013, at home. She courageously fought cancer until her last remaining weeks with her loving family at her side, never losing her spirit or faith. Carra recently moved to St. George, UT, to be with her daughter and son-in-law.
Carra was born on October 15, 1929, in Century; beloved daughter of Cleveland and Bessie Pert. Carra married Roscoe McHenry (deceased) and they had three loving children. On December 15, 1972, she married her soul mate Charles Taylor (deceased).
Those left to treasure her many memories are her beloved daughter, Linda Schmal and son-in-law, George Schmal; son, Stephen Paul McHenry and wife Diane; sister Grace Mitchell and brother William Pert.
Carra was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren all living in Florida. She loved spending time with Marcus Berthiaume; Stephanie Gibbs, her husband Mathew and daughters Kyleigh and Hayden; Tanya McHenry and children Trace and Addison; Stephen Paul McHenry II.
Carra was kind, generous, and loving. Carra had a big heart and will be greatly missed, but the world is a better place from having her here for 83 years.

A celebration of the life of Carra Taylor will be Tuesday April 23rd at Trahan Family Funeral Home. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until noon followed by services at the chapel. Graveside services will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m.

Micha R’Shea Scott, age 37, of Jay, passed away April 19, 2013, after an asthma attack. She was born August 7, 1975, in Brewton.
She was preceded in death by Mr. R D Scott , great-grandfather; Mr. R M Scott, grandfather; Mrs. Etha Mattie Scott , great grandmother; Mrs. Dorothy Lowell, grandmother; Mrs. Margaret Carden, grandmother; Mr. E J Adams, grandfather and Mr. Wayne Huey, grandfather.
She is survived by her son Mical Wayne Scott who was the love of her life. She is also survived by her parents, Michael and Patsy Scott; her sisters Kara Ritchie (Alan) and Ashley Buckley(Shane); nieces Allison Ritchie, nephews Truitt Ritchie, Aiden and Easton Buckley; as well as many other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, April 23, 2013, at Jay Church of Christ with Bro. Stanley Ryan officiating and David Howze leading music. Burial will follow at Jay City Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Shane Buckley, Alan Ritchie, Adam Scott, Travis Smith, William Burgess and Ralph Hayes.

Norma Gean Kilpatrick, age 70, of Jay, passed away on April 17, 2013.
Gean was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Eugene Kilpatrick; father, Bernice Weekes; mother, Ella Ruth Weekes; two brothers, B.F. Weekes and Richard Eric Weekes Sr.; and one grandson, Mikie Edwards.
She is survived by her three children, Johnny Kilpatrick of Pace, Wendy Alumbaugh (Wayne) of Milton, and Tammy Castleberry of Jay; three sisters, Lou Jara (J.J.) of Pace, Ruth Carr of Milton, and Caffie Wilson (JR.) of Dixon, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Shay and Rebecca Kilpatrick, Ronald and Jake Castleberry, Raven Cole, Dixie Younge, Cameron, Devin, and Megan Alumbaugh; and seven great- grandchildren, Lily, Amberlin, Christian (Buba), Hunter, Kyndal, Lana, Jace, and one in waiting, Bryce.
Graveside services were held at Wallling Cemetery on Saturday, April 20.
Active pallbearers were Robert Wilson, Bart Wilson, Timothy Wilson, John Weekes, Michael Weekes, and Steven Padgett.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Rosewood Manor, and Covenant Hospice for all the care showed to our loved one and family during our time of need.

Donna Redmon Thompson, born April19, 1954, passed away April 15, 2013.
Remarkable and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend has ended her battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley, and her parents, Henry “Battle” and Lavada Redmon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Larry; her son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Traci Thompson; three grandchildren, Chandler Ervin (Ben), Chase and Tradley; three sisters, Marilyn Brantley, Sharon Blanton and her twin, Debra Rigby, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, an aunt and uncle and her mother-in-law, Jeanette.
Donna was an active member of Scenic Hills Church of Christ where she spent many hours teaching bible classes and helping others.
She is the co-founder of the local Miracle League Ball Park where she and Larry made a dream come true for hundreds in our local special needs community. Donna worked as a secretary/operator of Professional Air for 35 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Miracle League.
Pallbearers will be Eric Smith, Chris Pinney, Herb Smith, Jerry Caine, Josh Jennings and Vincent Andrys.
Funeral Service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013,. at Gateway Church of Christ with Pastor Kyle Rye officiating. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Barry Alan Gross, 63 of Brewton, passed away April 18, 2013, in Brewton.
He was born October 7, 1949, in Bremerton, WA. He served in the United States Navy. He was a retired machinist with civil service. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe Russell and Myrtis Louise Bryan Gross and son Alan Gross.
He is survived by his sister, Myrna Gross Howell of Jay and his family and friends.
Private inurnment will follow in McCullough Cemetery.

Michael James Staples

Michael James Staples was born January 3, 1962, to Janie Staples and the late W. D. Staples in Monroe County. He departed this life on April 16, 2013, at Atmore Community Hospital.
Michael was a deacon at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Eliska. He was a celebrated musician and played lead guitar every Sunday at Zion Star A.M.E. Zion Church in Atmore. His career began as a volunteer fireman at 17 years of age with the Atmore Fire Department. He became employed there on December 31, 1981, as a fireman, and retired as assistant chief on September 28, 2012.
In his passing he leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Hayley Staples; his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Janie Staples, both of Atmore; three sons, Delron (Mieshia) Staples of Atmore, SN Jonathon J. Stallworth, U.S. Navy, Unit 490, Fort Sam Houston, TX and Malcolm English of Atmore and a foster son, PVT. Tony Mae, U.S. National Guard, Fort Leonard Wood Military Branch, Crocker, MO.; three brothers, Edwin Bruce (Sharon) Staples of Round Rock, TX, Larry Staples and Kenneth Staples, of Atmore; mother-in-law, Pearline C. Andrews of Uriah, AL; two sister-in-laws, Alfreda Andrews (Bill – deceased), Barbara Ingram (Econuel) of Atlanta; one brother-in-law, James L. Andrews (Laura) of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Kameren and Jaylen Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends as well as his faithful and devoted church family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Grace Fellowship Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Mayberry Funeral Home in Atmore. His body will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral hour Saturday.

Mrs. Mary Ann White, 70, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Century.
Mrs. White was a native of Evergreen, Ala., and a resident of Century for the past 49 years. Mrs. White was known for her beautiful flowers and her caring and giving spirit. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God. Her parents, Terry & Edna Lee; sister, Mildred Earl Lee; and brother, Terry Ceylon Lee, precede her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, John W. White, Jr. of Century; one son, Matt (Melissa) White of Crestview; two daughters, Angie (Brenton) Kelley of Century and Kimberly (Craig) Burkett of Byrneville; five brothers, Leon (Carolyn) Lee of Port St. Joe, Fla., Bobby Lee of Century, Paul Lee of Century, Thurston (Kathy) Lee of Moss Point, Mississippi and Lincoln (Bobbie) Lee of Moss Point, Mississippi; two sisters, Linda (Lee) White of Century and Darlene Lee of Byrneville; five grandchildren, Daniel (Nikki) Kelley, Trent (Konner) White, Jill (Jeffery Steadham) Kelley, Jonathan Burkett and David Burkett.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God with Rev. Shelton Kindig, Rev. Eric Bryan and Rev. Mike Daniels officiating.
Burial will follow at the Beulah Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God.

Stephen Grant Jogan

Stephen Grant Jogan, Captain, United States Navy, Retired, age 70, passed away at his Barrineau Park home on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
Captain Jogan was born September 8, 1942, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He graduated from Monmouth University in 1964 with a BA in Political Science. During his 27- year career as a Naval Flight Officer, he earned the following awards and decorations: Defense Superior Service Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (2), Humanitarian Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy “E” Ribbon; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with one Bronze Star. He has over 250 combat support hours (Vietnam) and more than 250 carrier landings.
Captain Jogan proudly served his country aboard various naval facilities and ships: Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, NAS North Island (CA), NS Quonset Point (RI), NAS Pensacola (FL), Naval Station Jacksonville, (FL), NAS Norfolk, (VA) (twice), NS Dam Neck (VA), NAS Miramar(CA) ; USS Kearsarge (CVS 33), USS Wasp (CVS-18), USS Intrepid (CVS-11), USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42), and the USS America (CV-66). In 1981, he took command of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 117 which deployed aboard the USS Enterprise (CVA-65) from San Diego, CA. In 1985, Captain Jogan served as the Director, Joint Naval Applications Directorate (HQ USAFE/DON) and as the Officer in Charge, CINCUSNAVEUR Detachment, Ramstein AB, Germany. Captain Jogan retired in August of 1991.
After his retirement, Captain Jogan volunteered his time at the Barrineau Park Historical Society and Community Center, the Barrineau Park Elementary School, and served as lector at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church and held several offices on the Parish Council.
Captain Jogan was preceded in death by his parents, Helen (Borkowski) and Stephen Jogan. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gina (Venettozzi) Jogan; two children, Christina (Alvin) Joseph and John (Stephanie) Jogan; five grandchildren Ashley Jogan, Ryan Joseph, Madison Jogan, Grant Jogan, Milo Jogan, and great grand-son, Reese Jogan; his sister, Brenda Jogan and brother Robert (Doreen) Jogan and eight nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 17, 2013, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church (Hwy 196-W Barrineau Park Rd). Internment, with military honors, will be at 2 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard NAS Pensacola. Trahan Family Funeral Home, 430 Beverly Parkway is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Louise Milligan

Mary Louise Milligan, 89, of Pensacola, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013.
She was born in Ellisville, MS, and retired from Monsanto. After her retirement, she was employed with Whales Dress Shop for many years. Mary loved to fish and spend time with her family. She was a member of Calvary Way Full Gospel Church.
Preceded in death are her husband, Allen Milligan; two brother and four sisters.
Survivors include her five children, Jean Murphy (Bill), James Hill (Sue), Patsy Akins, Mary Hill (Bobby Boatwright) and Billy J. Hill, Sr. (Deloris); 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Calvary Way Full Gospel Church with funeral services following at 1:00 pm with Reverend Carl Shiver, Reverend Jim Diamond and Reverend Mitch Turner officiating.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Dewey White, Brad Thompson, Terry McDaniel, Jerry McDaniel, Norman McDaniel, Terry Hill, Timmy McDaniel, Johnny Hill, Steven Hill and Tim Ryan.

Leatrece Jeanette Nall Wolske

Leatrece Jeanette Nall Wolske surely went singing into God’s home of eternal love and grace on April 6, 2013, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Born July 9, 1925, in Atmore, she was one of five children and the youngest daughter of Stephen C. and Florence E. Nall. She grew up and lived in the Bellview area of Pensacola, where she completed Tate High School and was an active member of Bellview Baptist Church, its choir and programs for many years.
Leatrece had a beautiful talent for engaging and entrusting herself to people wherever she lived. Throughout her life she developed many caring, devoted and loving friendships. She was one of the beautiful flowers along life’s path that brought joy to each heart that she touched.
Late in life she married Leonard Wolske and moved to Cary, Illinois. After her husband’s death, she moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, where she lived near her sister for many years. She was a well-loved and faithful childrens’ helper and door greeter of Faith Baptist Church in Fredericksburg.
In her last years, she valiantly struggled with the increasingly debilitating symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, from which she succumbed.
She is survived by her sister, Eleanor and her brother, Stephen and a loving bunch of nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in Corpus Christi, Texas on Thursday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m.
