Walter “Tom” Hall

Mr. Walter “Tom” Hall, 82, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, in Atmore.
Mr. Hall was a native of Bratt and a resident of Atmore since 1988. Mr. Hall attended the Canoe Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Norma Grace Hall of Atmore; one brother, Allen Clark Hall of Atmore; one sister, Margaret Alice Bailey of Carlsbad, NM; caretaker, Susie Hall of Atmore; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Hall and Rev. Jake Bondurant officiating.
Burial was at the Pine Barren Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gwen Hendricks, James Scott II, Anthony Lamb, Richard Faircloth, Aaron Hall and Mike Smith.

Theresa “GiGi” Stephens Cardwell

Theresa Stephens Cardwell, 65, of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013, with her family by her side.
Theresa was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1947. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High Class of 1966. She married Joe Cardwell on June 3, 1967, and relocated to Pensacola shortly thereafter. She was a dedicated employee of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department for 33 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted much of her time to her family. She was known as “GiGi” by her loved ones. She was a kind-hearted person and went above and beyond to give to others.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Joe S. Cardwell and her parents, Sam and Gussie Stephens.
She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Allen and husband, Eric of Cantonment and their children, Carley, CariAnn, and Jaxon; brother, Steve Stephens and wife, Jamie of Wetumpka, AL; nephews, Seth Stephens and wife, Nikki and Cameron Stephens of Wetumpka.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Irene Bowker, Wayne Barber, Linda Brill and Sandra Hofer for their love, care and support. They would also like to thank Dr. Wade, Dr. Erdos and Covenant Hospice staff, Katie, Evelyn, Cathy and Jan.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. with the funeral service at 6 p.m.at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Interment will be at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice in Theresa’s memory.

George Selton Brooks

Mr. George Selton Brooks, 59, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, in Foley.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Pensacola, former resident of Bay Minettte and resided in Foley for the past 16 years. His parents, James and Lillian Brooks; two brothers, James Edward Brooks and Riley Sherman Brooks; and two sisters, Laura Jean Johnson and Mattie Sue Johnson precede him in death.
Survivors include his two brothers, Harrel Brooks of Pine Grove, AL and William Brooks of Luverne, AL; four sisters, Lillian Aline Hadley of Perdido, Flora Lee Hadley of Bay Minette, Mary Katherine Hadley of Fish River, AL and Tina Elaine Stringfellow of Pearl, MS.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Crook and Rev. Robert Lord officiating.
Burial was held at the Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lonnell Hadley, Charlie Synder, Dewayne Hadley, Anthony Hadley, Nickayiah Brooks, David Williams, Turner Brooks and Charles Boatwright.

Daisy Moye Childress

Mrs. Daisy Moye Childress, age 95, of Flomaton, passed away Wednesday morning, August 21, 2013, at a Brewton hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Childress was a native of Moyeville, AL and a long-time resident of Flomaton where she lived for 50 years. She was a homemaker and attended the Pleasant Home Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen Childress, Jr.; son, Millard Childress and granddaughter, Sandy Calloway.
She is survived by her son, Aubrey (Catherine) Childress of Flomaton; daughters, Marie (Shelby) King and Jean Odom both of Flomaton, and Maxine Creamer of Pollard; daughter-in-law, Diane Childress of Flomaton; brothers, Charles Harold Moye of Decatur, AL and James Earl Moye of Foley; sisters, Hazel Pearson of Monroeville and Ernestine Stachlin of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 23, 2013, at Craver’s Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wilbur Graves officiating.
Interment was in Pollard Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Odom, Yancey Odom, Jason Davidson, Danny Moore, Trevor Reeves, Ryan Reeves and Ryan Childress.

Mr. Daniel Scott Nelson, 30, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, in Pensacola.
Mr. Nelson was a native of Ft. Hood, Texas, former resident of Brewton for 15 years and had resided in Bratt for the past 15 years. Mr. Nelson was a student at the Atmore Campus of Jefferson Davis Junior College. He is preceded in death by his father, Morris Scott Nelson; brother, LCpl Travis Nelson and grandfathers, Morris W. Nelson and Thomas A. Updike.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Updike (Bubba) McGhee of Brewton; stepmother, Beckie Sanspree Nelson of Bratt; wife, Melissa Royster Nelson of Bratt; one son, Quinton Scott Nelson of Bay Minette; two daughters, Amber Leigh Whitehurst and Caitlin Marie Nelson both of Bratt; four sisters, Jenna Nelson (Kevin) McCall of Brewton, Sharelyn I. McGhee and Shaylee D. Cash all of Brewton, AL and Anna Louise Nelson of Bratt; grandmothers, Martha Nell Updike and Louise Nelson both of Brewton and two nephews, Aydin & Jaxon Nelson of Brewton.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Dwinger officiating.
Burial will follow at the Green Acres Cemetery.

Mary Willene Tedder Barton

Mrs. Mary Willene Tedder Barton, age 83 of Century passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, in Pensacola after an extended illness.
Mrs. Barton was a native of Bratt and a resident of the Century community for 60 years where she attended Mt. Zion Chapel and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by husbands, Frank W. Tedder and Willard T. Barton.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jerry) Godwin of Century, Delois (Dave) Hudson of Pensacola and Judy Lister of Flomaton; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cliff Emmons officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.

Dennis Clayton Walker passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. He was a great “Dad”, granddad, and family man in general. He loved his wife of 32 plus years. Dennis enjoyed fishing, time at the beach and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Julia Walker; brothers, Leonard Walker, Jr., Leon Walker, Glen Walker and Clarence Walker and sister, Joyce Marie Walker.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 32 years, Reba Weaver; daughter, Summer Weaver; son, Clayton Weaver (Krystal); brothers, Carroll Walker, William David Walker and Bobby Gene Walker; sisters, Eunice Lewis and Deborah Barnes; grandchildren, Mercedes Archer, Trenton Walker, Trevor Walker, Trinity Fine, Janet Weaver and Xavier Weaver and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Enon Baptist Church in Walnut Hill with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Linda Janell Presley, 64 of Atmore passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in Atmore on November 25, 1948, to the late James Oscar and Myrtle Lane Davis.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Larry Presley.
Survivors include her two sons, James Larry Presley and Chet Presley both of Atmore; one daughter, Angelia (Gary) Gibson of Bratt; one brother, John Lee (Elaine) Davis of Atmore; grandchildren, Kayla, Skyla, Billy,Jr., Rachel Ann, Jesse Stone, Allana,Brooke, Maddie Mae and Gaige; and great-grandchildren, Brantley and Emory Bell.
Graveside services will be Friday, August 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Presley Cemetery in Nokomis (Ala) with Rev. Richard Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Presley Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Randall Ovila Comeau

Randall Ovila Comeau, 78, of Cantonment died on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital.
He is survived by his five children, Jeffrey Comeau and his wife Denise, Christopher Comeau, Lynn Ann Covell and her husband David, Brent Comeau and his wife Elizabeth, and Rebecca Sherrouse and her husband Nicholas; eight grandchildren, Sydney Milke, Jessica Comeau, Christian Comeau, Jacob Covell, Macy Comeau, Matthew Covell, Seth and Zachary Comeau (along with their mother Andrea Comeau); one great-grandchild, Lola Milke; and many nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Navy 1953-1977 (retired as Master Chief). He also served his community as a management analyst in the Federal Civil Service, as a permanent deacon in the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee for 25 years, and as a minister to shut-ins for more than 30 years.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church at 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013. The presiding celebrant will be Monsignor Michael P. Mooney.
Burial services will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the columbarium gazebo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
Charles William “Billy” Thompson

Charles William “Billy” Thompson Jr., 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 16, 2013.
Billy was an avid outdoor sportsman, who loved fishing, hunting and being around friends and family. Billy was also involved in racing, helping his brothers and nephew on their race cars. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors or at the racetrack, you could find him shooting a game of pool.
Billy was born June 4, 1952, in Pensacola and resided in Pensacola his entire life.
Billy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Sally Thompson and Grady and Ruby Allbritton; father, Charles W. Thompson Sr.; and the love of his life, fiancé, Kay Jackson.
Survivors include his mother, Christine Bonds; brothers, Rick (Joni) Thompson, Tim Thompson, Mike Bonds and Chip Bonds; sisters, Tonya (Mike) Brantley and Gayle Falke; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until funeral services begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the funeral home with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Randy Thompson, Tim Thompson, Glenn Fowler, James Hallman III, Micah Hallman and Hunter Mandel.
