Oleda Allene (Wilson) Steege

Mrs. Oleda Allene (Wilson) Steege, 77, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013, in Davisville.
Mrs. Steege was a native of Atmore and had resided in Davisville for the past 55 years. Mrs. Steege was a board member of Atmore Little League, florist at Atmore Garden Center for Cordie Powell for 18 years, member of Concerned Citizens of Atmore, Atmore Saddle Club, Alabama Women’s Bowling Association and a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Stars in Davisville. She attended the Pine Barren Baptist Church in Davisville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Irma Adelle (Miller) Wilson; husband, Simon Theodore “Teddy” Steege; son, Darrell Steege; brother, Clark Wilson; and grandson, Russell Mack.
Survivors include her son, Gerald Steege of Davisville; two daughters, Rene Steege Bunch and Arelene Steege Mack both of Atmore; one sister, Lauverne Dortch of Davisville; seven grandchildren, Wesley Mack, Daniel Mack, Ronnie Bunch, Nicole Steege, Alexandra Steege, Gerry Steege and Tabitha Roberson; five great-grandchildren, Braiden Bauder, Skyler Mack, Gavin Mack, Russell Mack and Kaelyn Steege.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 11, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the children and grandchildren officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pine Barren Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2013, from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Mack, Daniel Mack, Ronnie Bunch, Gerry Steege, James Roberson and Jonathan Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Mack, Gene Dortch, Joe Roberson, Ray Parker, Matthew Reynolds, Aaron Purvis, Nathan Dortch, and Randall Rolin.

James “JV” Brooks

James “JV” Brooks, age 83, a native of Evergreen, AL, and longtime resident of Cantonment, passed away August 8, 2013. He retired from Champion Paper Company after 33 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He loved spending time at home with his family and also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Brooks; and two sisters, JoAnn Volovecky and Bobby Jean.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary; son, Tommy (Brenda) Jordan; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Burkette; many nieces, nephews, and many friends; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael Jordan, Timothy Jordan and Justin Burkette; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral services begin at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Larry McKeehan, Brother Glen Vaughn and Pastor Jeff McKee officiating. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Willie Steve Goodson

Willie Steve Goodson, age 61 of Jay, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Jay where he had many friends and family members. He retired from Monsanto/Solutia after 27 years of employment. He lived his life with honesty and integrity. Steve was an avid outdoorsman with a special love of running dogs, fishing on the river, and his catfish pond.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Goodson.
Left to cherish his memory are his significant other and best friend, Patricia (Peachie) Gillman; father, Rex Goodson; brother, Larry (Dawn) Goodson; stepson, Tim Gillman; nephew, Logan Goodson and granddaughters, Brittany and Kirsten Gillman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Bro. LaDon Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Boutwell, Obie Nowling, Ronnie Morris, Mike Morris, Walter Butterworth, and Jason Johnson.

Morris Daniel “M.D.” Williams, 64, of Cantonment passed away on August 8, 2013.
M.D. was a disabled Vietnam Veteran. He worked for many years at NADP Pensacola and for three years at Cherry Point NADP.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Morris Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Williams; brother, Wayne Williams; children, Danielle Williams and Tiffany Williams; step-children, Richard Stall and Suzanne Stall; grandchildren, Daysha, Brennen and Dionnah Williams and Jessica and Bryan Hardy; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends as well as many cousins in South Carolina that he loved dearly and his aunt, Betty Morgan.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until funeral services begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Pine Forest Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Andrew Noel DeLuca, III, age 49, of Flomaton, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 3, 2013, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.
Mr. DeLuca was a native of Long Branch, NJ, and had been a resident of Flomaton since 1984 coming from Comanche, OK. He was employed at Jim Peach Ford as a painter and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lois L. DeLuca of Flomaton; his wife, Mrs. Tina Gayle DeLuca of Irvington, AL; step-daughter, Tonya Nicole Ashburn of Brewton; sisters, Tina Marie Freeman of Century, Andrea Lee Koonce of Mirando City, TX, Anita Louise DeLuca of Flomaton, and LeaAnn Wolcot of Walters, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary “Graham” Mitchell, 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Atmore.
Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Wardville, FL and has resided in Walnut Hill for most of her life. She attended the New Life Fellowship Church. Her husband, John Mitchell; two sons, Jimmy Lamar Mitchell and James Allen “Chuck” Mitchell; and one daughter, Pat Emmons, precede her in death.
She is survived by her three sons, John C. (Marie) Mitchell of Atmore, Jack (Hazel) Mitchell of Walnut Hill and Joe (Sue) Mitchell of Germany; two daughters, Helen Bell of Flomaton and Linda (Lee) Johnson of Brinson, GA; one brother, Otis Graham of Pensacola; one sister, Luverne Graham of Walnut Hill; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, August 10, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Joe Gipson officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Donald Randolph Jernigan, age 70, of Friendship Road in Flomaton passed away Saturday, August 2, 2013, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Pensacola and a lifelong resident of Flomaton. Mr. Jernigan was a recovery boiler operator at Container Smurfit with 41 years of service and a member of the First Friendship Baptist Church of Flomaton.
Survivors include one son, Randy (Stacey) Jernigan of Andalusia; one daughter, Donna (Anthony) Hill of Andalusia; one brother, Bill Jernigan of Flomaton; two sisters, Faye Selman of Forsyth, Georgia, and Joy (Ed) Bray of Fayetteville, Gerogia; four grandchildren, Cody Hill, Cameron Hill, Samantha Jernigan, and Shelby Jernigan and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013, from 1 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

Beatrice Singleton

Mrs. Beatrice Singleton, 89, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Molino.
Mrs. Singleton was a native and resident of Bratt for most of her life. She had resided in Molino for the past four years. She never had any children of her own, but helped raise five generations of family and other children. Her parents, Owen & Minnie Singleton; three brothers, Perry, Curtis and Clark Singleton; and three sisters, Inolia Avery, Lillian James and Ethel Louise Suarez precede her in death.
Survivors include her four nieces, Helen Chavers of Cantonment, Shirley Jordan of Pace, Arletha McKinney of Mt. Pleasant, TX and Debbie Barlow of Pineville; two nephews, Ralph James of Newton, MS and Lane Singleton of Atmore; special great niece and family, Charity (Russell) Sheldt and Heath and Brandon Sheldt of Molino and numerous other great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Calhoun officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.

Mrs. Karen Judy Hill, age 58 of Brewton, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Hill was born in Atmore and was a long time resident of Brewton, coming from Pascagoula, MS. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, Mr. George L. Hill, Jr. of Brewton; three sons, Michael (Natalie) Higginbotham and Robert (Jennifer) Higginbotham, both of La Follette, TN, and David (Miki) Higginbotham of Japan; one daughter, Tracy (Jason) Cook of Laurel, MS; brothers, Joseph Hugh “Hootie” Westbrook of Atmore, Frank Lloyd of Slidell, LA, Thomas Jeffords of New Orleans, LA, Sam Jeffords of Pascagoula, MS, and Curley Davis of Jay; sisters, Patsy Kirkland of Pace, Patty Ann King of Paris, TN, Dorothy Baker of Tennessee, and Joanie Bishop of Galveston, TX; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating.

Mr. Leon Wilson, Sr. of Atmore, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013, at his residence.
He was a veteran the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Navy, and was a farmer and carpenter by trade.
He is survived by three sons, Leon (Donna) Wilson, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Keith Joseph (Sherry) Wilson of Panama City, FL, and Walter Scott (Bridget) of Atmore; one daughter, Mary Martha Clauson of Baltimore, MD; one brother of Nhyppgrass, MD; three sisters; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. David Cooper officiating.
Interment will follow in Weaver Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.
