Betty Jean Cash

Mrs. Betty Jean Cash, age 71, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at her Flomaton residence.

Mrs. Cash was born in Molino and had been a resident of Flomaton for the past 56 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mr. O.D. Cash of Flomaton; three sons, Danny Cash of Nashville, TN, Roger (Bama) Cash of Brewton and Robert (Debbie) Cash of Flomaton; three daughters, Linda (Randy) Baggett of Brewton, Marilyn Cash (David Churich) of Brewton, and Carolyn (Joey) Settle of Brewton; three sisters, Louise Stacey of Flomaton, Carlie Mae Whitehead of Cantonment and Myrtice Morris of Cantonment; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Flomaton Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Brantley officiating.

Interment will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Flomaton Funeral Home on Sunday, October 27, 2013, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.

Mattie Lou Cardwell Hosford

October 20, 2013

Mattie Lou Cardwell Hosford, age 89, of Mobile, formerly of Pensacola, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, October 19, 2013. She was born April 14, 1924, in Enterprise, AL, to the late Walter W. Wilson and Elizabeth E. Barnes Wilson.

Mattie was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill in Cantonment and retired from Monsanto after 26 years of service.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Anton Dale “Buddy” Cardwell, Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Merlin Willie Hosford; her sons, Anton D. “Buddy” (Barbara Ann) Cardwell of Hammond, Indiana and Walter D. “Danny” (Judy) Cardwell of Molino; her step-daughter, Debra (Lee) Avinger; her step-son, Willie (Donna) Hosford, all of Mobile; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until the service hour.

Fred Warren Johnson

October 20, 2013

Mr. Fred Warren Johnson, 75, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013, in Atmore.

Mr. Johnson was a native of McCullough, AL, and had resided in Atmore  since 1985. He was farmer for many years and a welder at the Alabama Tank Company. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He attended the West End Baptist Church.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Roberta Johnson of Atmore; one son, Darin (Kathy) Johnson of McCalla, AL; three daughters, Sandy Johnson (Jack Hadley) of Uriah, AL, Robin (Jeff) Fernandez of Freeport, and Vickie Bowen of Uriah, AL; one brother, James Ray “Buddy” Johnson of Waynesboro, MS; one sister, Olga Barton of Fairhope; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Ropke and Rev. Alan Chace officiating.

Burial will follow at the McCullough Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2013,  from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Evan Johnson, Colton Bowen, Richard Chasez, Roy Chasez, Joe Barber, Greg Norwood, Robbie Fergurson and Nate Fernandez.

Charlie Grant

October 19, 2013

Charlie Grant passed away October 3, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade H. and Bessie E. Grant, his brother, Larry W. Grant, and his grandson, Marc A. Cellelo. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patsy Grant, two brothers, Bobby (ReNae) Grant and Harry Grant, as well as his two children, Sheila (Dennis) Aucoin and Michael D. Grant. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Jenifer (Jason) Morreau, Nicole (Glynn) Jarreau, Lauren Cellelo, and Katie (William) Linkhart; great-grandchildren Dylan, Mason, Jackson and Lucas; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and his beloved dog, Panda.

Charlie worked for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for 40 years and served under seven sheriffs. During his early years, he was Chief Identification Officer and solved many cases through crime scene and fingerprint identification. Charlie was a pioneer in introducing the first color crime scene photographs in State of Florida. During his administrative years he supervised numerous departments. He retired from the Sheriff’s Office as a major in 2001. In addition to his work at the Sheriff’s Office, he coordinated security for the Pensacola Interstate Fair for almost 20 years.

He was involved in stock car racing locally for many years as an official and car owner. He was a NASCAR fan and a devoted fan of Alabama football and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching old westerns on TV. He also enjoyed sight-seeing and travelling in his motor home in a caravan of RVs with a group of good friends. He loved the outdoors and cherished the many evenings he spent around campfires with that group of long-time close friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Inclan and staff at Woodlands Medical Specialists for their compassionate care, especially Deanna, Lindsay, Valerie and Maria. Also thank you to Covenant Hospice for their great kindness and care, and special thanks to Keeley.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Saturday, October 19, from 1-2 p.m. Dr. Ross Lankford, Associate Minister of First Baptist Church of Pensacola will be officiating. Graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Charlie’s name be made to a charity of your choice .

Frances Avery

October 19, 2013

Frances Avery, 84, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013. She retired from Pensacola Naval Air Station in 1990. Her main hobby was her family all of whom she loved dearly. She had a calling for playing gospel music. She played piano at Pine Forrest United Methodist Church and Heritage Baptist Church. She was always a caregiver to others and always had a giving heart and caring spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Frances Brewton; brother, Amos B. Brewton, Jr.; sisters, Lucille Nelson and Mary Ruth Russ and her daughter, Mary Frances Parker.

She is survived by her sons, Amos Hill, Mark (Penny) Avery and Matthew (Kathy) Avery; brother, Henry (Shellye) Brewton; son-in-law, Lewis Parker; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 12 p.m. with the funeral service at 12 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013 at Pine Forrest United Methodist Church with Brother Rual Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

George Edward “Eddie” Parker

George Edward “Eddie” Parker, 72 of Walnut Hill, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Walnut Hill. He was a truck driver for over 50 years. He was born in Poarch on August 8, 1941, to the late Lawrence Gay and Eula Webb Johnson Parker.

He had a great sense of humor, loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a avid outdoorsmen.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Parker and Raymond Parker and one sister, Ruby Varner.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Parker; one son, John A. (Rhonda) Cannon; one daughter, Gwen Parker all of Walnut Hill; one brother, Curtis A. Parker; one sister, Augusta P. Hopkins both of Orange Beach, Ala.; four grandchildren, Brittany Tutton, Kelsey Tutton Peacock, Caren Cannon and Parker Corey; three great-grandchildren, Maddix Tutton, Roper Peacock, and Bristol Peacock and numerous family and friends.

Services will be Friday, October 18, 2013m, at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Gipson officiating.

Interment will follow in Pine Barren Cemetery.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Teresa Moore

October 16, 2013

Mrs. Teresa Moore, 48, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013, in Pensacola.

Mrs. Moore was a native of Martinsville, Indiana and had resided in McDavid since 1983. Mrs. Moore was loved by her family and nice to everyone she meet. She attended My Fathers Vineyard Church.

She is survived by her mother, Sarah Moore of Bratt; husband, Robert Simmons of McDavid; two daughters, Jacqueline Moes of Jacksonville and Sarah Moore of Cantonment; one brother, David Moore of Bratt; one sister, Nellie Handrip of Bratt; and three grandchildren, Corban Moore, Callie Moes and Bella Cook.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Marshall officiating.

Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013, from 11 a.m. until funeral time at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Edward “Red” Watts

Mr. Edward “Red” Watts, 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Pensacola.

Mr. Watts was a native and resident of Byrneville. Mr. Watts was a veteran of the Korean War and the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Union and the Creek Indians. His parents, Lawrence and Bama Watts and one sister, Mildred Burkett precede him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Watts of Byrneville; three sons, Donald Beals of Flomaton, Michael Beals of Byrneville and Jimmy Castonguay of Baker; two daughters, Doris (Mike) Luther of Milton and Deanna (Howie) Gillis of Milton; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 18, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Byrneville Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Eric Bryan officiating.

Katie Lynette Lambeth

October 16, 2013

Mrs. Katie Lynette Lambeth, age 69 of Flomaton, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Mrs. Lambeth was a native of Evergreen, Ala., and a lifetime resident of the Flomaton community where she worked as a dietary cook at Century Care Center. She was a member of Moyeville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Lamar and Katie Lorene Butler Blackmon; sisters, Loree Andrews and Janice Conrad; and brother, Lamar Blackmon.

Survivors include her husband, Leland Lambeth of Flomaton; sons, Leland Keith (Shennon) Lambeth and Eric (Daphne) Lambeth, both of Flomaton; daughter, Shannon (Tommy) Pettis of Brewton; sister, Erlene (Jr.) Boutwell and Marie (William) Bell, both of Flomaton, and Faye (Charles) Moye of Decatur, AL; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 6 p.m until 8 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hutto officiating.

Interment will be at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery in Flomaton.

Pallbearers will be Josh Jernigan, Kevin Browder, Tony Bell, Larry Boutwell, Dwayne Conrad, Ricky Moye, Andy Moye, Bryan Browder.

Sara Williamson Volbruck

October 15, 2013

Sara Williamson Volbruck, 83, of Cantonment, went home to her savior October 14, 2013.

She is survived by four children Diane Harris, Lester and Linda Williamson, Sheila and James Hicks, and Bruce and Sharon Thompson; six grandchildren and 14  great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Friday, October 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 10-11:00 a.m.  Burial will be at Catawba Springs Cemetery, in Pollard, AL.
