Jimmy Wayne Brown

Mr. Jimmy Wayne Brown, age 63, of Log Cabin Lane in Brewton, passed away Saturday evening November 2, 2013, at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Brown was a native and life-long resident of Brewton, and was a retired carpenter and painter in the home building industry. He was of the non-demoninational faith.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Leila Lindsey Brown of Brewton; three sons, Caanan Brown of Jay, Seth (Katie) Brown of Cantonment, and  Adam (Beth) Brown of Pensacola; two daughters, Leslie (Jason) Crawford and Christy (Bobby) Powell all of Brewton; one brother, Glenn Edward Brown of New Orleans; four sisters, Barbara (Bill) Hall, Bea Worthington, Glenda (Danny) Fleming, and Connie (Clifford) King, all of Brewton; eight grandchildren;  two great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Chris Fleming of Brewton.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jepp Edward Brown.

Graveside funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 11 a.m at Union Cemetery with loved ones speaking at the service.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery.

There will be no visitation for Mr. Brown.

Pallbearers will be Taylor White, Dalton Smith, Travis Sessions, Dwight Evans, Keith Fleming, and Tracey Mancil.

Glenda Lane Webb

November 3, 2013

Glenda Lane Webb, 88, of Pine Forest Community passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, in Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital.

She was the wife of Dr. John B. Webb. She is survived by her husband of 70 years; her sister, Pat Alter of Maine; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Adrian and Edith Webb of Pensacola; her children, Linda Smith (Rodney) of Wagarville, AL, Diane Jones (Rhett) of Mims, FL, the Rev. Mr. John Webb (Trena) of Pace, Judy Ring of Crestview, Gordon Webb (Jeannette) of Cantonment, Mark Webb (Bernadette) of Pensacola, and Jane Webb of Pensacola. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glenda was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Lane; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Lillie Webb; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Frances and Paul Weller; a grandson John Brian Webb; great-grandsons Jack and Owen Slinkard; and son-in-law David N. Ring.

Glenda Webb was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She spent many active years in volunteer work at Pine Forest United Methodist Church as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, Worship Committee Chairperson, Hospitality Chairperson, Youth Counselor, and Preschool Director. In addition, she spent as much time in her garden as she could, chasing weeds from every corner of her world. She loved getting into the dirt and growing any flower, vegetable, or fruit. Glenda was an avid cook, artist, reader, and traveler. Her interests were diverse and she loved learning. As her health began to fail her, she took up a new hobby, bird watching. Her back yard became an aviary, and she could identify the different birds as they flew in and out of the trees.

Glenda was an enthusiastic baseball fan. She and Johnny had season tickets to the Pensacola Pelican games and could be found in the stands at every home game. They became loyal fans of the Blue Wahoos when the new team came to town and Glenda could name every player and followed them faithfully.

She loved greatly and was greatly loved. She will be greatly missed.

Glenda’s memorial service was held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Pine Forest United Methodist Church on Wilde Lake Blvd.

The family is accepting floral condolences or, if preferred, contributions may be made to Glenda’s favorite charity in her memory, St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 326 Chamberlain, SD 57326.

Charles “Paw Paw Charles” Edward Banks

Charles “Paw Paw Charles” Edward Banks of Pensacola, went home Monday, October 28, 2013, to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief but tough fight with cancer. He was the son of the late Ned and Louise Banks. He was born June 21, 1953. Charles resided in the Pensacola/Cantonment area his entire life until recently moving to Foley, Alabama to enjoy fishing and relaxation with his loving wife of 33 years, Becky Lynn. Charles attended Olive Baptist Church. He retired from Solutia in 2009 and was presently working for Grifols in Pensacola. Charles loved the outdoors and fishing was his passion. He was also a loving Dad and Granddaddy and enjoyed vacations, cookouts and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Ned and Louise Banks and his younger brother, James Earl Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Becky Lynn, and in this union his three children, two loving and devoted sons, Matthew (Amber) Banks and Joseph Logan Banks, and his precious baby girl, Tasha (Jordan) Melton; his grandchildren, Caleb, Seth, Tobias, Tysen, Talon and Breelyn whom were the apples of his eyes. He also leaves behind three older children from a previous union, Charles Jr, Sharie Riles and Shania Hayes and their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Ethel(Lorenzo) Evans and Joyce (Raymond) Collins; one brother, Calvin (Marilyn) Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Jerrel) Vunovich and Sandra (Paul) Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and two very special lifelong friends, Harold and Val Schyder.

Funeral services were Friday, November 1, 2013, at Spanish Trail Baptist Church in Pensacola, with Pastor Paul Adams officiating.

Interment was at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

David Lee Adams

November 2, 2013

David Lee Adams, 70, of Cantonment, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013. David was known in the area as the Peanut Brittle man for nearly 30 years. He was a charter member of Spoken Word Church for many years.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Norma Floyd Adams; sister, Kay Martin; and his parents, Newton T. and Louise Adams.

He is survived by his children, Leigh Ann Rawlins (Bill), Anthony Wayne Adams (Jodi), Aimee Yvonne Solari (Mark); six grandchildren, Stephanie Solari, Courtney Solari, Ryan Rawlins, Molly Adams, Kyleigh Rawlins and Will Adams; and brother, Larry Adams (Cheryl).

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Spoken Word Church with Pastor David Floyd officiating.

Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Cemetery.

Mildred Ione Bethea Boutwell

Mrs. Mildred Ione Bethea Boutwell, age 86 of Flomaton, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 31, 2013.

Mrs. Boutwell was born in Century but had been a member of the Flomaton community for her lifetime. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Flomaton First Baptist Church where she was on the Bereavement Committee. She was also active in the First United Methodist Church of Flomaton where she served on many committees, as M.Y.F. Leader, taught Sunday school and was a devoted church and choir member. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Estelle Sturdivant Nelson; brother, George Albert Nelson; her first husband, Thomas Rabun Bethea, Sr. and grandson, Brandon Christopher Agerton.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Herbert C. Boutwell, Jr. of Flomaton; sons, Travis Kent (Peyton) Bethea of Brewton and Thomas Rabun Bethea, Jr. of Flomaton; daughters, Lois Katherine (Kenneth) White of Atmore, Darla Nette ‘Totsie’ (Clifton) Mims of Atmore, Jodi (Jimmy) Broach of Gulf Breeze and Geneva Dawn (Ken) Cooper of Atmore; brother, Arthur Ray Nelson of Foley; sister, Geneva Feltman of Lexington, SC; step-sons, Herbert Chauncey (Brenda) Boutwell, III of Pensacola, Joseph Phillip (Rhonda) Boutwell of Pensacola, John Tilton Boutwell of Pensacola, Timothy Wayne (Connie) Boutwell of White Hall, AR, and  Benjamin Daniel (Cheryl) Boutwell of Century; step-daughter, Mary Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ (Dean) Wilkerson of Bonaire, GA and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Flomaton from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Flomaton with Rev. Dustin Stockstill and Dr. Jerry Keese officiating.

Interment will be in Flomaton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Coburn, Joshua Mims, Caleb Bethea, Mack Broach, Alvin Feltman, Chase Boutwell, Joe Brantley and Emanuel Bethea.

Susan Helen Duthie

October 31, 2013

Mrs. Susan Helen Duthie, 50, of Atmore, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, in Atmore. She was born October 14, 1963, in Braintree, Massachusetts to William M. and Marie E. Duthie. She attended Poarch Baptist Church and was pursuing a degree in nursing. She is preceded in death by her father, William M. Duthie and sister, Nancy Duthie.

She is survived by her son, Matthew K. Garrison; daughter, Logan Aundrea Garrison, both of Atmore; her mother, Marie E. Duthie of Atmore; four brothers, Lawrence (Susan) Duthie of New York, James Duthie of New Hampshire, Paul (Marylou) Duthie of Massachusetts and John (Christine) Duthie of Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leo Luker and Rev. Lawrence Duthie officiating.

Joseph “Skipper” Westbrook

Mr. Joseph “Skipper” Westbrook, 39, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Newark, Ohio.

Mr. Westbrook was a native of Davisville, former resident of Walnut Hill and has resided in Milton for the past 7 years. Mr. Westbrook was in the U.S. Army. He was a hard worker, great husband, father, son, brother, avid hunter and fisherman. He was a strong and stubborn man; loved guns, knives and loved to drive big trucks. His grandparents, J.B. & Mary Westbrook and Robert and Janie Godwin precede him in death.

Survivors include his father, Joseph Hugh Westbrook of Atmore; mother and step-father, Shirley and Kenneth Hughes of Molino; wife, Lasharrell Westbrook of Milton; one son, Joshua Lee Westbrook of Pensacola; one daughter, Ciara Thomas Westbrook of Milton; one brother, Bentley Joe Westbrook of Graceville; one step-brother, K.W. Hughes of Pensacola; one sister, Tabitha Lynn (Anthony) Roberts of Molino; one step-sister, Erica Godwin of Pensacola; one nephew, James Mitchem of Molino; one niece, Sierra Mitchem of Molino and step-grandparents, James and Binnie Hughes of Molino.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. James Hughes and Rev. Brian Calhoun officiating.

Burial will follow at the Highland Baptist Cemetery.

Charlie Youngblood

October 28, 2013

Charlie Youngblood, age 89 of Jay, went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2013. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Charlie never met a stranger. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Youngblood; two sisters and sister-in-law, Sara Youngblood.

He is survived by his sons, Ed (Linda) Youngblood of Mobile and Earl Youngblood of Jay; daughter, Anita (Mike) Newby of Jay; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Bennie Youngblood of Jay; sister, Annette (Bob) Edwards and two sisters-in-law, Derlie (Buddy) White and Doris Gentry.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Carnley officiating services.

Burial will follow at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dwight Wendell “Tookie” Grant

Dwight Wendell “Tookie” Grant, 69 of Barnett Crossroads passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, in Brewton. He was born September 16, 1944, in Atmore to the late Hope Emitt and Mamie Kent Grant. Mr. Grant was a plant superintendent with Swift Lumber Company for 51 years, an active member of Canaan Freewill Baptist Church and an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte Morton Grant of Barnett Crossroads; daughter, Tonya Grant (Justin) Ragan of Atmore; two brothers, Delano Grant of Atmore and Don (Faye) Grant of Bluff Springs, Fla.; five sisters, Mabeth Averill of Tyler, TX, Martha Peacock and Dartha (James) Turner, all of Atmore, Glenda (Tommy) Fields of Barnett Crossroads and Judy (Leroy) Smith of Atmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held October 26, 2013, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Waylon Stuckey and Bro. Kevin Fillmore officiating.

Interment was in Canaan Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cecil Marion McKinley

October 25, 2013

Mr. Cecil Marion McKinley, 81, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Atmore.

Mr. McKinley was a native of Atmore, former resident of Goldsboro, North Carolina and had resided in Atmore for the past nine years. Mr. McKinley served in the Army in 1946 to 1966 as a medical specialist, was in the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Germany for many years. His father, John Alfred McKinley, mother, Ila Allen and wife, Gerthrude McKinely, precede him in death.

Survivors include his brother, John Raymond McKinley of Atmore; two half-brothers, Billy Stintson of Frisco City and Randal Stintson of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Francis Chandler of Loxley and Lenora Booth of Toledo, Ohio; and one niece, Diane Hudson of Milton.
