Mrs. Mary Etta Lambert, 81, of Canoe, passed away at her home on November 10, 2013, on a beautiful Sunday morning. She was born June 8, 1932, in McCullough, to the late Richard Harrison and Zellie Vickrey Robinson. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Huxford Community of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Ray Lambert.
She is survived by her children, David and Sonja Lambert of Canoe and Beth and Shawn Linam of McCullough; her grandchildren, Alisha Linam, Ryan Lambert, Nicholas Linam, Emily Lambert, and Cole Lambert; brother, Wendell Robinson of Excel; and sister, Pauline Kirby of McCullough.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Seventy Wayne Ellis and Elders Tommy and Sharon Jernigan officiating.
Burial will follow in Huxford Community of Christ Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Mr. Aubrey Kenneth Ashcraft, 72, of Molino passed away November 9, 2013, at Covenant Hospice in West Florida Hospital. He was born in Pensacola on December 12, 1940. He served in the United States Air Force. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev. Aubrey H. Ashcraft and Agnes V. Wiggins.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Hall Ashcraft; two sons Kenny (Candy) and Kevin (Missy); grandchildren Amber Knight, AJ Ashcraft, Ryan Ashcraft, Hanna Ashcraft, Isabella Ashcraft and Derek Ashcraft; two great grandchildren Ayden Blair, Braylen Barton as well as numerous family and friends.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Monday November 11, 2013. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at Highland Baptist Church in Molino and services immediately following with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Hospice or Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.

Joiel Wilson Edmonson “J.J.”, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joiel David Edmonson and Eula Mae Edmonson, Woodrow Allen and Estelle Allen.
J.J. is survived by his loving wife, Rori Edmonson; daughters, Torrie Edmonson, Gyanna Edmonson and Harley Edmonson; father, John David Edmonson (Tina); mother, Teresa D. Edmonson; brothers, Jerry Wayne Nellum (Anita) and John Nellums (Elsie); many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Bo Bibby, Rodney Watkins, Joshua Allen, Joiel Smallwood, Justin Smallwood and Dustin Thurston.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Denhan, Jr., Jarome Edmonson and Sidney Benware.

James David “Dave” Hoffman

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day. (2 Timothy 4:7-8a)
James David “Dave” Hoffman of Cantonment, was received by his Lord and Savior into Heaven on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He left this world peacefully while surrounded by members of his loving and loyal family and friends who were in prayer for him, and was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his many family members and friends who preceded his arrival.
Dave Hoffman was born December 15, 1931, and lived a joyful, busy, happy life filled with service to others and a dedication to his family that was unparalleled. Dave was there before anyone asked for help; his generosity and kindness to others was the daily service of this strong but humble man. He always had a smile and hug or handshake for everyone he met and people who know him watched out for his vise-like grip!
He retired from the United States Navy after serving 20 years from 1950 – 1970 and served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War era. During his military career he received numerous honors including the National Defense, United Nations, and Korean Service Medals. After his retirement from the Navy he returned to Pensacola and worked for Flor Daniels Construction Company at the (then) Monsanto Plant until he retired for the second time. Dave was a great carpenter and gardener and many people in Pensacola were blessed by his precise, beautiful woodwork and offerings from his bountiful vegetable and rose gardens.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, David Felix and Renolda Hoffman of Taylor, Mississippi; his brother, Harry Paul Hoffman and brother-in-law Grover Kinney; son-in-law Walter Zittel; and grandson Roy (“Willie”) McCormick.
He is survived by his sweet and loving wife, Jane Hoffman (“Nana”) of 63 years and their four children, Lyn Zittel of Pensacola; Jim (Mary) Hoffman of Virginia Beach,VA; Jeff (Robyn) Hoffman; Janet Price (Dennis Foster) as well as K.C. (Susanne) Fehl, all of Cantonment. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bert (Felicia) Wynne, Emily & Savannah Price, Rebecca Zittel, Meagan & Matthew Hoffman, Jared & Trevor Hoffman, Kim Zurbay and Charles McCormick; as well as Kenny Paul Fehl; and his two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Allison Wynne. He also leaves his sister, Hazel Kinney and sister-in-law, Marilyn Hoffman both of Oxford, MS; his aunts, Iva Brown and Edna Hargrove; his brother-in-law, Virgil (Amy) Cooper of Birmingham and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Faith Chapel North in Cantonment.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment, with Pastor Roy Chewning officiating.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 11:30 am.
Pallbearers will be Bert Wynne, Jared Hoffman, Trevor Hoffman, Kenny Paul Fehl and Robby Stoner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Bailey, Windell Long, Charlie Lowery, Glen Norris, Clifford Stoner and the active Deacons of Gonzalez Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mary Lou McMath, 85, of Atmore, passed away November 7, 2013, at her residence. She was born October 1, 1928, in McCullough, Alabama, to the late Isaac E. and Madora Luker. She was an active member of Presley Street Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe McMath, a brother Leo Luker and one great granddaughter Anna Grace McMath.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Leroy (Susan) McMath, Jr., and John William (Esther) McMath; two daughters, Mary Diane (Eddie) Purvis and Susan Elizabeth McMath; two sisters, Miriam Milliken and Lois Amerson; grandchildren, Joey (Misty) McMath, Jeremy (Jennifer) McMath, Jonathan (Lacey) McMath, Melanie (Chad) Kent, John (Dana) McMath, Jr., Brook (Jeremy) Hawsey, Marisa Robards and Derek (April) Bell. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Dixie Caylor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Presley Street Baptist Church with Bro. Leo Luker and Bro. Mike Grindle officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Hilrey “Don” Entrekin

Mr. Hilrey “Don” Entrekin, 84, passed away on Sunday, Novmeber 3, 2013, in Mobile.
Mr. Entrekin was a native of Century and had resided in Brewton since 1994. Mr. Entrekin was a member of Norris Masonic Lodge #301, Scottish Rite and Shriners Abba Temple in Mobile. His parents, Joel & Lena Entrekin; brothers, Vernon Entrekin and Aubrey Entrekin; and sister, Ethel McElvoy precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Entrekin of Brewton; one son, James V. Entrekin of West Carrolton, OH; three daughters, Nicole Santoro of Greenfield, OH, Donna (George) Ferenczi of Trotwood, OH and Patricia Santoro of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Burnham officiating.
Burial was at the Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Entrekin, Charles Proctor, Justin Proctor, Lloyd Proctor, Nathan Gillis and Bernie Raines.

David E. Dean

Mr. David E. Dean, Jr. 88, of Lottie, Alabama, passed away November 4, 2013, in Bay Minette. He was born June 21, 1925, to the late David E. Sr. and Willie Jones Dean. He served in the United States Navy in the Atlantic during WWII and later in the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 7016. He was a farmer for many years. He served his community and his church. He worked for Production Credit and was chairman of the Baldwin County Soil and Water Supervisors for 20 years. He was a board member of Southern Pine Electric, Baldwin County Farm Bureau, Perdido Alumni and a member of Lottie United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the board of Trustees and was finance chairman for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frank Dean, Herbert Dean, Albert Dean, Ruby Hayles, Myrtle Shiver and Claude Dean.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Taylor Dean; three daughters, Cheryl Dean (Burk) McWilliams of Arley, AL, Karen Dean (Stephen) Caldwell and Susan Dean (Jim) McCracken, both of Lottie; seven grandchildren, Jason, Vaughn, Rachael, Josh, Thomas, Jim and Jennifer; and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the Lottie United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Williams and Rev. David Edwards officiating.
Burial will follow in Lottie New Home Cemetery with VFW honors.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Hayles, Claude Dean, Bill Sigler, Wayne Dean, Wendell Dean and Jack Weatherford.

Emma Ruth Wasden Cannon

Emma Ruth Cannon, 88, of Jay, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013, at Jay Hospital.
Emma Ruth was born in Brewton to J.M. and Josie Wasden, and grew up in the Jay area. She overcame an early childhood illness and never allowed that to handicap her. She graduated from Jay High School and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Troy State Teacher’s College. She began her teaching career in Santa Rosa county and retired in 1976, after a stellar career of 27 years teaching first and third grades. During her career, she held various offices in the teachers’ organizations and was named Santa Rosa County Teacher of The Year in 1974. She was also proud of her membership in Delta Kappa Gamma. After her retirement, she and her husband, Bud, spent much time traveling the country, visiting many states in their motor home. They also enjoyed spending time at their camp on Blackwater River fishing, boating, and entertaining family and friends. Emma Ruth was an active member of the Jay First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, quilting, knitting, painting, reading, and flower gardening. She especially loved her roses, which she generously shared. But she never forgot her first love-that of her students. She took great pride in remembering their names as well as those of their families.
She is predeceased by her husband, Grady Clyde “Bud” Cannon, to whom she was married for 48 years. She is also predeceased by her parents, her sister, Drusilla Campbell and her brother, Randolph Wasden.
She is survived by her son, Grady Herbert “Herb” Cannon and his wife, Helen; three grandchildren, Jonathon (Kelley) Cannon of Arlington, VA, Jennifer Angeron of Milton, and Joel Cannon of Atlanta; two precious great-grandchildren, Reese Angeron and Isla Jane Cannon; sisters, Bobbie Whitley of Pace and Mary Alice (Bobby) McHenry of Jay; and brother, Mack (Mary) Wasden of Jay and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to her special caregivers, Bernice Barlow, Polly Harrison, Kim Acker, and Christine Fowler. They would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. David Smith, Dr. Bascom Raney, Dr. Jeff Kelley, and the nurses and staff at Jay Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Jay First United Methodist Church with Rev. Laura Weant officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Mahlon and Gary Campbell, Terry and Johnny Wasden, Beau and Steven McHenry, Bill Wasden and Barney Whitley.

Mr. Donald Alvin Respress, 57 of Atmore, passed away November 3, 2013, in Mobile. He was born June 12, 1956, in Atmore to the late Amon and Evon Dannelley Respress. He was a farmer most of his life and is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas A. Respress and Tony Respress.
He is survived by his sons, Douglas Respress, David (Julie) Respress and Adam Respress all of Atmore; one brother, Michael (Joyce) Respress of McCullough and three sisters Jean (Jerry) Mason of Atmore, Janice (Larry) Kyser of Pensacola and Susan (Frank) Maguire of Atmore; and grandchildren Taylor, Preston, Kayleigh, Kaitlynn, Kristina, Sean and Addison.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial will follow in McCullough Cemetery.

Mr. Michael Devon Odom, age 36 of Flomaton, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Odom was a native of Atmore and a resident of Century before coming to Flomaton. During his working years, he worked for Grey Wolf Drilling as a drilling rig roughneck. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Sharon Odom of Century; wife, Rhonda Odom of Flomaton; son, Drew Odom of Flomaton; step-daughter, Kendall McDonald of Flomaton; brother, Jesse Odom of Century; grandparents, James and Barbara Wilson of Century; mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Sharon Pate of Flomaton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with speaker Ronnie Fore officiating.
