Lt. Tommie Jones Owen

Lt. Owen is preceded in death by his son Curtis and is survived by his best friend and wife of 22 years, Sarah, his children and grandchildren, both given an chosen, Donald Owen, Cocoa, FL, Brenda Owen, California, Beverly Emmons, Pensacola, FL, Randal Smith (Ginjer), Molino, FL, Lisa Bauer (Mike), Cantonment, FL, Brittany Marie, Brittany Nicole, Mallory, Tori, Matthew, Bailee, Rilee and Jayme and great-grandchild, Destiny.
Lt. Owen served in ports around the world as well as state side during his 22 year Navy career. He was employed by civil service at Corry Station after his retirement from the Navy. As a civilian, Lt. Owen traveled around the US until he settled in Molino, FL, where he became an active member of Highland Baptist Church in service to his Lord, church and community.
Tommie worked as a mentor in the Escambia School System until his health no longer allowed. During this time, Tommie never failed to present his Lord to the children in his care. He served as a representative to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home and was supportive of the Home’s endeavors.
Tommie loved the outdoors. He continually found projects to make our home and yard beautiful. Tommie adored his wife, Sarah, always bringing coffee to her in the mornings before work and meeting her at the door in the afternoons, always with a smile. Tommie made many trips to her work place to surprise her with flowers. Tommie was kind and thoughtful and never forgot to show his love. Tommie received love as freely as he gave it. Tommie gave 100% to whatever he became involved in. He believed if it was worth doing, it was worth doing right and to your best ability.
Our marriage was a testimony of God’s love, grace, mercy an yes, His sense of humor, best described as he kept me anchored and I gave him wings.
Tommie loved his Lord, his country, and his family. He was loved by all who knew him for his gentle spirit, but his firm demonstration of his beliefs.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10:00 am at Highland Baptist Church with Brother Brian Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Beryl Elizabeth Dunn Robinson, 84 of Atmore, went to be with the Lord and her other loved ones Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dothan, AL.
Beryl was born June 28, 1929, in Baldwin County, AL, to the late Clyde and Lizzie Dunn.
She was preceded in death by husband Marshall Robinson; sister Clydine Waltman; and brothers Mack, Jack, and Malvin Dunn.
Survivors include son Ron (Rose) Cooper of Dothan; daughter Faye (Doug) Owens of Hilliard, OH; grand-daughters Debbie Bennett, Sharilyn Owens, and Robin Braswell; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 14, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church in Atmore. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening, March 13,2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brooks Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or to a charity of your choice.

Robert Edward Shaffer

Robert was an avid fisherman, hunter, outdoorsman, and loved to spend time on the water or in the woods. His greatest joys were on the gulf or riding his motorcycle. He was known to many as Cap’t Rob or Superrob. Robert was also former President of American Legion Riders, Post 44. Wherever he went, he was sure to make a new friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Martha Shaffer and sister, Cindy.
Survivors include his children, Maria (Shawn), Krystle (Colter), Clayton (Erin), and Arron; his grandchildren, Mickey, Mya, Logan, Will, Camden, Nate, and Brantley; his siblings, Debbie, Evelyn, Lori, and Jason; as well as a very special friend, Judy; and numerous fishing, hunting, and motorcycle buddies.

Daniel Wendell Kelly, Sr.

Mr. Daniel Wendell Kelly, Sr., 86, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014, in Century.
Mr. Kelly was a native of Bratt, former resident of Pensacola, and a resident of Bratt for most of his life. He is preceded in death by son Daniel Wendell Kelly, Jr, daughter Melody Joan Kelly, mother Edna Kelly, sister Leonora Blackmon, brother Leonard Jackson Kelly, Jr. and granddaughter Susan.
He is survived by his niece Florine Wiggins of Bratt, and other nieces and nephews, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Ricky Peebles and Rev. Theron Collingsworth officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 11, 2014, from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Virgil Ray Blackmon Griffith

He was a member of the Krewe of Mayoki Indians and loved parading. As a Mayoki he found that he had a talent for face painting. He loved painting faces and would continue to paint until the float was pulling away. This was just one of his many hidden talents. He always walked the parades so he could hand beads to the children along the way.
Above all else Ray’s love and passion was riding motorcycles, he was co-founder of the Blue Knight’s Motorcycle Club, FL Chapter XXVI and past president. He turned his passion of riding into helping others by starting with the help of his friend Bambi Provost, the Sacred Heart Miracle Camp Charity Ride in 2003. His passion of riding also transferred over to his wife and son and became a family affair making memories together never to be forgotten. Helping others learn to ride or work on their motorcycles was another passion.
Ray’s love for people and helping others was his way of life. He would stand up for what he believed to help someone even if it got him in trouble.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Lee Blackmon; mother, Dorothy Ganey Blackmon Griffith and his brother, Mark Griffith.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 41 years, Priscilla; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Katie; his dad, Mac (Sherri); sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Rob McAllister; sister, Margaret Dean; brother’s, Andy (Carol) and Mack Griffith. A special neice, Nicole McClelland (Josh); special nephew, Robert McAllister; his two “Special Babies”, Josiah and Adalyn, many sisters and brother-in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Pallbearers are Nell Forrester, Robert Powers, Rick Frye, Steve Smith, Joe Webber, Darrel Webb, Al Fryer, Ski Gowitzke. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Stewart, Chris Miller, Ronnie Bryant, Tim Willis, Tom Vaughn, Billy Winters, John Beachman and members of the Blue Knights Florida Chapter XXVI.
The family would like to send a “special thanks” to the Sacred Heart 2nd floor nurses and staff, as well as the Sacred Heart Oncology entire team for their support and care. They went above and beyond their call of duty to help Ray and his family through this journey.

Ray is now riding the streets of Heaven free of pain, making “u” turns, leaving fond memories behind.

Joe William Acreman left this life on earth for heaven to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born in Crenshaw County, AL to the late Hattie Lee and William Henry Acreman on May 26, 1933. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Buster, Horace, Sam and Bascom and five sisters, Alice Cox, Willie Mae Owens, Zula Taunton, Pearline Tompkins, and Odie Lee Cox; brother-in-law, Max Mott and mother and father-in-law, AZ and Blanche Mott.
Mr. Acreman is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sara Anne Mott Acreman and daughter, Amy Jo Acreman Bates and her husband, Thomas and his grandson, Brandon Bates.
He served in the United States Army in Korea. He worked for the Department of Defense at Corry Station and NAS Mainside for 30 years.He was a faithful member of East Brent Baptist Church for over 35 years and a member of Adult 7 Men’s Sunday School class. Joe loved bass fishing, boating and many outdoor activities. He was a loving husband and wonderful father, father-in-law and PawPaw.
Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Monday, March 10, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at East Brent Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Leslie Jackson “L.J.” Crutchfield

Leslie Jackson “L.J.” Crutchfield, Jr. 89, of Atmore, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Bay Minette. He was born October 19, 1925, to the late Leslie Jackson and Lula Bell Myrick Crutchfield, Sr. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Pacific on the U.S. New York. He had retired from Civil Service where he had worked at Brookley Field and NAS, Pensacola. He attended The Church of the Living God in Atmore. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jewel McNeil Crutchfield, second wife, Frances Odom Crutchfield; and one brother, Melvin Crutchfield.
He is survived by his son, Larry E. (Pennie) Crutchfield of Warner Robins, GA; and daughter Melanie Bell (Kim) Crocker of Riviera, TX; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton.

Celebration of Ethel Lucille Madison Gross, 90 transitioned from this life on earth to her Heavenly home where she will be reunited with her parents, William Howard and Ida Williams Madison, her husband, Luther, and two sisters and five brothers. She was formerly of Atmore but staying with one of her daughters in Pensacola and passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. She was born in Monroe County on January 20, 1924.
She was a member of Poarch Creek Indians, Atmore Quilting Club, a former member of Presley Street Baptist Church and a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sherry (Glenn) Schaeffer and Sheila (Michael) Byrd all of Pensacola; one sister, Eloise (William “Bill”) Younce of Millington, TN; three grandchildren, James Byrd of Pace, Jennifer Lay of Pensacola and Lisa Muccillo of Cincinnati, OH; and five great-grandchildren, Blake Duvall, Maddox Lay, Parker Byrd, Kaylee Byrd, Kristen Byrd, and Harper Muccillo.
Services will be Monday, March 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Lt. Col. Charles Andrew Lambert

Lt. Col. Charles Andrew Lambert, 76, born in Vocation, Ala., on June 27, 1937, passed away March 1, 2014, in the Covenant Hospice Wing at West Florida Hospital. He was a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, MS and Florida State University. He also graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff School. He was employed by Gulf Power Company for 25 years (Public Relations), Pensacola News Journal, Historic Pensacola Preservation Board and the Playground Daily News in Fort Walton Beach. He was a Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves, 361st Brigade for 30 years. He was assigned to the Pentagon for various tours of duty.
He was active in Boy Scouts of America for many years. He would proudly say all three of his sons excelled to become Eagle Scouts. He was also a past president of the American Cancer Society, Pensacola Chapter, Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and Florida State Alumni Booster Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lilla Lambert; youngest son, Todd Anthony Lambert; and sister, Joyce Westmark.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. Lambert; sons, Dr. Mark Andrew and his wife, Pamela and their daughter, Isabella; Charles Douglas Lambert and his wife, Karen and their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth.
Charles lived in Molino, on Sunny Hill Farm, a horse farm with his wife, Linda, for 30 years. He faithfully attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an avid Florida State football fan. He like to run/walk and he accomplished the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC on November 1, 1981.
The three loves in his life were: God first, family second and his country third; however, a very close first would have to be his Florida State football team. He lived just long enough to see the Seminoles reclaim the BCC Natinonal Championship.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Spiva, Ed Addison, Gordon Van Mol, Jodey Harper, Steve Salter, Don Patterson, Tommy Cushing, Wayne Westmark, Jay Westmark, David Westmark and Dale Powell.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at NAS Chapel with Pastor Jim Reece and Pastor Pat Mobley officiating.
Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
