Nathan Nall

Nathan Nall, 82, of Nokomis, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his residence. He owned and operated the Nokomis Trailer Park for many years. He was born in Bratt to the late John Henry and Letitia Conway Nall. He was the State Constable for 16 years in the Nokomis area, served in the U.S. Airforce during 1950-1954, retired from Monsanto 1955-1987, and was a member of the Nokomis Baptist Church. He was a avid fishermen, loved flowers and yard work.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Donnie Ree Nall.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Dorothy Albritton Nall of Atmore; two sons, Norman (Jewell) Lambert, Sr. of Perdido, and Stephen (Lucille) Nall of Lebanon, TN; one daughter, Rhonda (Joey) Kelmer of Nokomis, Ala.; four brothers, Felix Nall of Perry, FL, Dewey Nall and Donald Nall, both of Huxford and Narvez Nall of Washington; three sisters, Juanita Williams of Pensacola, Martez Brockman of Virginia, and Jeanette Markham of Connecticut; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor George W. Marlowe officiating.
Interment will follow in Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Norman C. Lambert, Jr., Audie Coleman, Ronnie Coleman, Leroy Knowles, Tim Albritton and Barney Tyree.
Family will receive friends, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Montez “Stacey” Dreadin

Mrs. Montez “Stacey” Dreadin, 76, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, in Flomaton.
Mrs. Dreadin was a native of Range, Alabama and a resident of Flomaton since 1987. Mrs. Dreadin was a former Vanity Fair employee, was a great cook and attended the Atmore Baptist Temple. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur & Nathalee Stacey; one brother, Arthur A. Buck Stacey; and seven sisters, Aline Crutchfield, Sallie Howington, Marjorie Woods, Irene Raines, Cricket Stacey, Alice Gorum and Berba Stacey.
She is survived by her husband, Fairrel Dreadin of Flomaton; two sons, Wayne Burnett of Mobile and Keith (Linda) Dreadin of Dothan, AL; four daughters, Theresea (Johnny) Allen of Flomaton, Linda (David) Hadley of Atmore, Wanda Burnett of Dothan, AL and Kathy (William) Ross of Elgin, Scotland; one sister, Ethel Padgett Long of Flomaton; 11 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Odom officiating.
Burial will follow at the Flomaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

James “Jimmy” Slack, Jr.

Mr. James “Jimmy” Slack, Jr., 61, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Perdido.
Mr. Slack was a native of Austin, Texas and a resident of Perdido forr the past 10 years. Mr. Slack was a religious man, kind-hearted and loved everyone.
He is survived by his six sons, Robert Landrum of Perdido, Michael Slack of Pensacola, Kevin Slack of Poarch, Steven Ray Slack of Pensacola, J.D. Powers of Perdido and Oscar Powers of Perdido; one daughter, Tricia Powers of Perdido; three sisters, Joann Fenton of Atmore, Cindy Landrum of Austin, TX and Claudine Powers of Perdido; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 21, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Stoney Daw officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Margaret Elizabeth “Beth” Morris

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth “Beth” Morris, age 48, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, in a Pensacola hospital.
Mrs. Morris was born in Bay Minette and had been a life long resident of Escambia County, Alabama. She was a graduate of W.S. Neal High School and worked as an LPN in the health care industry for a number of years. She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Evelyn Brown, and her grandparents, Cecil and Margaret Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett D. Morris of Flomaton; her father, Wayland Brown of Brewton; a son, Aaron Jacob Morris of Flomaton; a daughter, Ava Nicole Brazil of Flomaton; one brother, Daniel Franklin Brown of Pensacola; and two grandchildren, Michael David Griffis and John Hunter Lee Griffis, both of Flomaton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Bay Minette Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Ada Ruth Cumbie

Ada Ruth Cumbie, 77 of Little River, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Fairhope. She was a homemaker, born in Atmore on September 7, 1936, to Robert Jack and Ada Bell Wall Lassitter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hubbert Cumbie and a grandchild, Shane Cumbie.
Survivors include her three sons, Ricky (Joella) Cumbie, Michael (Darlene) Cumbie, and Terry (Diane) Cumbie all of Little River; one daughter, Wanda Blackburn of Bay Minette; three brothers, Rubbert (Eloise) Lassitter of Booneville, Russell (Maxine) Lassitter of Poarch and Milford Lassitter of Atmore; one sister, Shirley White of Booneville; and 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cornelious Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow at Mamie’s Chapel.

Mr. Paul Wilkerson Moore, Jr., 85, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Pensacola.
Mr. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Bluff Springs. Mr. Moore was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his three sons, Ron (Rhonda) Moore of Holt, FL, Paul A. (Cindy Chadwick) Moore of Nashville, TN and William Keith Moore of Bluff Springs; one daughter, Cathie (Randy) Hendricks of Pensacola; two sisters, Margaret (Theodore) Creamer of Byrneville, and Hazel (Bob) Boyarski of Panama City; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. at the Crary Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Shriners Children’s hospital.

Rickey Lee Powell

Rickey Lee Powell, 46 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Bay Minette. He was a native of Atmore. He was a commercial bus driver and a devoted Christian and member of the Healing Waters Church in Bay Minette. He loved his kids and did all he could for them. Always knew how to get a smile out of you and was extremely loyal to everyone he loved.
He was born on September 14, 1967, to the late Roy “Red” and Ruby Godwin Powell.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Powell and Charlie Powell and one sister, Judy Powell Scott.
Survivors include his son, Richard Powell of Atmore; daughter, Sarah Powell of Atmore; three brothers, PeeWee (Ann) Powell and Gary Powell all of Atmore and Donnie (Shawn) Powell of Tennessee; one sister, Katie (Elvis) Presley of Atmore; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be Friday, March 14, 2014, at 3 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Daniels officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Ewell Benjamin Baxley

Ewell Benjamin Baxley, 77 of Atmore, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Bay Minette. He was retired superintendent with the oil field. He was born in Coffee Springs, Ala., on August 23, 1936, to the late Henry and Zella Mae Danford Baxley. He also was an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, John J. Baxley, Leonard Baxley and Julian Baxley.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Green Baxley of Atmore; children, James (Gloria) Long of Laredo, TX, Donald (Maxine) Long of Fort Worth, TX, Sarah Long of Atmore, Yurtha Riojas of Asherton, TX, Ronnie (Elia) Long of Laredo, TX, David (Estela) Cardwell of McAllen, TX, Deborah (Eric) Lugad of Missouri, Robert (Juanita) Cardwell of Milton, Leslie (Leslie) Long of Columbia, SC, Kathy (Larry) Goings of Milton, Richard (Eva) Long of Austin, TX and Sandra Robins of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Judy Long of Washington; sister, Audrey Ruth Bryan of Paxton; sisters-in-law, Ludene Baxley of Coffee Springs and Evon Nowling of Jay; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Steve Hill

A devoted husband and father, Steve Hill was married to Jeri Hill for 35 years. They recently relocated to the Gulf Shores of Alabama where Steve went home to be with Jesus, Sunday March 9th 2014.
Steve Hill was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1954 to a military family. Later they moved to Huntsville, Alabama. In his early teen years, his struggle with drug addiction began, resulting in several run-ins with the law.
In 1975, Steve’s life took a dramatic turn after a near death experience due to a drug overdose. He had been suffering for three days with violent convulsions when a Lutheran vicar visited his home and offered to pray with him. As Steve called upon the name of Jesus, the convulsions ceased and he was healed, delivered, and gloriously made new. Shortly after his miraculous conversion, his past caught up with him and he was arrested due to several unlawful activities prior to receiving Christ. Steve was facing serious felony charges and should have been incarcerated. However, God intervened and instead of prison, he was probated to the Teen Challenge drug and alcohol program.
Upon graduating, he was selected to attend David Wilkerson’s Twin Oaks Bible Academy in Lindale, Texas, where he met his future wife, Jeri Larson. They were married in 1979. The young couple soon entered into full time ministry, and began working with Outreach Ministries of Alabama under the direction of Jim Summers. From Alabama, they went on to serve as youth pastors in Panama City and Tallahassee, Florida. They soon began to sense a call to foreign missions, and doors opened for them to relocate to Argentina to plant churches.
In a span of seven of years, they planted seven churches in Argentina and held crusades throughout South America. Their ministry expanded to planting several churches and establishing Teen Challenge centers in Granada, Spain and Baranovichi, Belarus. Steve was preparing for a crusade in Belarus when his plans were divinely diverted.
On Father’s Day 1995, he was invited to preach a service at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola. Revival ignited, sparking what soon became known around the world as the Brownsville Revival. This was the longest running church revival in American history to date, drawing a cumulative attendance of over four million people from more than 150 nations. Steve preached four nights a week for five years during the revival, and hundreds of thousands came to Christ and received a fresh touch from God.He began holding arena crusades throughout America and across the world. Burdened with the desire to reach the multitudes who couldn’t come to the revival, in 2000 he relocated his ministry to Dallas, Texas, where international travel would be more easily facilitated.
While at a crusade in Vienna, Austria in 2002, the Lord spoke to him, instructing him that it was time to plant a church in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In 2003, he founded Heartland World Ministries Church and a year later established Heartland School of Ministry. He served as senior pastor until 2012, when his battle with cancer rendered him unable to continue.
Despite the brutal affects of melanoma, he continued to minister by launching several Internet evangelism projects including ProdigalsOnly.com, a website that has helped to lead thousands of prodigals back home to Jesus. During this time Steve also wrote several books and numerous articles, in addition to launching a television broadcast called From the Frontlines.
Following the example set by his own spiritual fathers David Wilkerson and Leonard Ravenhill, Steve sought to invest himself into the future generation of young evangelists and ministers. He spent hours pouring into these upcoming leaders, training, discipling, and equipping them for the work of the ministry, often disregarding his own pain and physical limitations.
Steve Hill has been hailed as one of the greatest evangelists of this generation, known worldwide for his passion for Jesus and his selfless dedication to reach the lost. His message of revival and repentance has truly touched the hearts of millions.
Steve’s heart was always on reaching the lost whether preaching to the multitudes or sharing Jesus with people one-on-one. Often times, he would step away from the crowds that came to his meetings to give a word of encouragement to a little child or to spend a few minutes praying with a drug addict, a prostitute or gang member. He preached with tears and regardless of the occasion, whether a wedding, graduation services, or funerals, was poised to give an altar call to the lost.
His greatest desire was to see Jesus one day and cast the crown of his rewards at the feet of his Lord. His family mourns his loss but is filled with joy knowing that Steve is now face to face with the One he loved so dearly. Finally he has heard those long awaited words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Steve gave everything he had to whatever the Lord asked of him. Nothing was ever done half-heartedly but with complete dedication. He was meticulous, always striving for excellence in every detail. He lived life with intense passion, giving his heart and soul to everything he did, which is why in 34 years of ministry, he accomplished the work of several lifetimes.
He is preceded in death by his father, Frederick Whiting Hill and his mother Ann Eskelinen Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri Hill; son, Ryan Hill; daughter, Shelby (Aaron) Levy; and daughter, Kelsey Hill; sister, Marcia (Daniel) Pate, George (Lynné) Hill, and Susan (Fred) Pieper.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, at 7 p.m. at Brownsville Assembly of God Church.

Jacob “Cob” Lisenby

Mr. Jacob “Cob” Lisenby, 19, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Cantonment.
Mr. Lisenby was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. Mr. Lisenby graduated from the Class of 2012 at Northview High School and he was an employee of Rowland’s Tires of Atmore. He was an awesome friend, loved everyone and loved to work on vehicles. He attended the First Baptist Church.
His grandparents, Harvey and Adell Lisenby, precedee him in death.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Dale & Missy Lisenby of Brewton; mother and stepfather, Angie and Marlin Gunn of Atmore; one brother, Jeremy (Monica) Lisenby of Atmore; one nephew, Lane Lisenby of Atmore; two stepbrothers; four stepsisters; grandparents, Leon and Rose Langley of Atmore; very special persons, Christopher and Leigh Ann Rowland; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and host of friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Pickern officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chase Reid, Josh Hammond, James Hitchcock, Brian Rolin, Brandon Denney and Seth Picheo.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2014, from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.
