Marc Mitchell Doerr, 57 of Pensacola, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2014, at the Life Care Center at West Florida Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He will be missed and always in our hearts. He loved life, his family, and his friends.
He left this world to join his mom and dad, Arthur H. and Audrey Dale Doerr in Heaven.
He is survived by the joy of his life, wife Margaret Bryan Doerr of Pensacola, formerly of Jay; stepson, Michael Shawn Gusick and his partner in crime, Skittles, his much loved and spoiled dog.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Cancer Center of Pensacola or A.S.P.C.A. of your choice.

Delores K. Swain

Delores Kay Benner Swain, 67, died April 15, 2014. Even though Delores’s life on this earth has ended, her eternal life with her Heavenly Father has just begun. She was an inspiration and blessing to all whose lives she touched in her courageous journey of battling cancer for more than 12 years. Her love of life was contagious in the way she enjoyed every day to its fullest.
Delores was born in Springfield, Illinois on January 19, 1947. She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Henry Benner and her mother, Korsie Leona Benner.
She is survived by her devoted husband and the love of her life, Roger L. Swain; daughters, Stephanie K. Harris (Nick) and Veronica S. Kings, who are her greatest contribution in life; four grandsons, Zachary Harris, Stephen Harris, Daniel Kings, Adam Kings; her beloved pets, Harry and Pepe’; and numerous friends.
Delores worked for Southern Bell Telephone prior to accompanying her husband abroad during his career in the Navy. Upon returning to Pensacola she became District Manager for H&R Block. After moving to California for five years, she and Roger returned to Pensacola to be near their daughters. She worked briefly at Sandy Sansing BMW.
She was a faithful member of Corry Station Chapel for many years.
Her infectious smile, positive attitude, fun-loving personality, inner beauty and gift for loving will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a much-loved Christian wife, mother, “Grammie” and friend. Her example of faith and grace in times of medical stress were truly a gift for those in her presence. She shared her testimony of faith with everyone she met. She especially touched the lives of those also battling cancer by providing encouragement.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Flannigan officiating.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Steven DeCesare and Dr. Dany ElSayah for their many years of compassionate and devoted care, and for whom we are forever grateful. Also special thanks to the doctors and staff of Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, FL, Covenant Hospice, Pensacola, FL and MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX.
Charles Lewis Fuqua

Charles Lewis Fuqua, Sr., 82, of Walnut Hill, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Escambia County, Ala., on March 19, 1932, to the late David Talmadge and Rachael Mae Belle Ware Fuqua. He served in the U.S. AirForce during the Korean War, retiring from N.A.S. Pensacola as an air craft mechanic with over 25 years experience. He was also a member of Nokomis Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Julian Fuqua.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Jones Fuqua of Walnut Hill, one son, Charles Lewis (Cindy) Fuqua, Jr., of Summerdale; two daughters, Deborah (Xavier) Ritchie of Pelham, AL and Cathy (Glenn Dick) Varallo of Birmingham; one stepson, Lavon (Cindy) Ledkins of Foley; two stepdaughters, Susan (Jim) Hamby of Elberta and Helen (Neil) Howard of Granite Falls, WA; one brother, Ronald (Linda) Fuqua of Brewton; two sisters, Wilma Lambert of Brewton and Virginia Waller of Dothan; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Hill officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Mrs. Marcia Ann Taylor, 75, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014, in Atmore.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Mobile and a resident of Bratt for the past 49 years. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended the Bethel Temple Church. Her husband, Cleve Taylor; parents, Mary Alice Payne and Calvin Wallace Payne; and brother, Oscar Payne, precede her in death.
Survivors include her five daughters, Janice Flowers of Nokomis, AL, Louise Bozeman of Monroeville, Marie Hatfield of Bratt, Lynette Colbert of Atmore and Annette Carr of Milton; one brother, Sonny Payne of Mobile; three sisters, Peggy McCarty of Saraland, Dorothy Jean Burnette of Jackson, MS and Mary Davis of Tillmans Corner; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Godwin Cemetery with the Rev. John Coleman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.

Rita Faye James, 59, of Atmore, passed away April 9, 2014, in Mobile. She was born on May 15, 1954, in Atmore. She was a LPN for many years. She is preceded in death by her father, Reuben McKinley and son, Phillip Cox.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” James and her mother, Lois Presley; one son; Jason Wade (Bobbie) Cox of Atmore; daughters, Kari (T.J.) Ashcraft of Frisco City, Sara Dunn of Uriah, Heather Dunn of Uriah, and Joanna James of Lillian, AL; brother, Steve (Kristina) Morris of Atmore; sisters, Patti Prater of Vicksburg, MS and Elaine Swilley of Atmore; grandchildren, Jacob, Blaze Mikael and Kaston and her best friend, Peggy Quimby Weaver.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 13, 2014, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Allen and Rev. Paul Enfinger officiating.
Active pallbearers were Claude Eubanks, Stevie Morris, Steven Morris, Brad Goldman, Tommy Ashcraft and Tim Goldman.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys B. Ingram, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Mobile.
Mrs. Ingram was a native of Long Beach, Mississippi and a resident of Atmore for the past 15 years. Mrs. Ingram attended the Sardis Baptist Church. Her husband, Rev. Evon Ingram, precedes her in death.
She is survived by her son, Charles Evon (Carolyn) Ingram of Mobile; one daughter, Elsa I. (Edmond) Williams of Mobile; and one sister, Clara Ausgaard of Long Beach, MS.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Taylor and Rev. Earle Greene officiating.
Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Bernice H. Harrison, 86 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Fairhope. She was a homemaker, born in Chicago, Ill. on December 01, 1927, to the late John and Francis Schulte. She was a member of St.Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Harrison, Jr.; son, John Robert Harrison; and two grandchildren, Blur and Tara Harrison.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Rhonda) Harrison of Summerdale and Bill (Karla) Harrison of Baker; one daughter, Susan (Carl) Bowen of Atmore; daughter-in-law, Beckey Harrison of Magnolia Springs, Ala; two brothers, Eddie (Peggy) Hesse and John (Carolyn) Hesse all of Foley; two sisters, Catherine Lehman of Summerdale, and Mary Ann (Billy) Strain of Richmond, VA; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 11, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. from the St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father Gordon Milsted officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.

James Tennyson

James Tennyson, age 68 of Molino, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Arab, Alabama.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Trumpetfish as a Torpedoman’s mate out of Charleston, SC from November 1962 until November 1966. After serving in the US. Navy, he was employed in the electrical trade for 20 years. In 1986, he began his employment with Civil Service, retiring in 2004. While at the US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, he received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
His father, James Tennyson and mother, Dorothy Tennyson, precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Tennyson; son, Daniel (Valeria) Tennyson; stepdaughter, Lisa (Christopher) Story; daughter, Stephanie Serbin; son, Stephen Ertz; daughter, Melissa Prewitt; grandsons, Cameron and Christopher Story; sister, Pat (Ed) Lutes; brother, Wilburn Tennyson; sister, Gloria Swann. Jim was profoundly loved by many nieces and nephews, close friends and his church family.
Jim was a member of Dogwood Park Baptist Church in Molino. He truly felt that each person there was his family.
Pallbearers will be Simon Barton, Bob Cummings, Cary Harrington, Chris Story, Devon Swann, DJ Tripp.
Services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Russell Branch officiating.
Interment following at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.

Malcolm C. Straughn, Jr.

Malcolm C. Straughn, Jr. went to be with his Heavenly Father early Saturday morning, April 5, 2014. A lifelong resident of Escambia County, he graduated from Pensacola High School in 1949. After high school, Malcolm worked in the family business, Brownsville Bakery. In 1953, he was one of the first employed at Chemstrand. After 32 years he retired from Monsanto and devoted his time to farming until several years ago.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Edna (Malone) Straughn.
Malcolm is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Jean (Poston) Straughn; his daughter Diane (Alton) Moore of Dahlonega, GA; and two sons, Kirk (Jackie) Straughn of Gonzalez and Ray (Angela) Straughn of Pace. He had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include a brother, Bobby Straughn of Pensacola; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His celebration of life will April 7, 2014, at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and service to follow at 12 p.m.
Reverend Alton Moore and Hospice Chaplain Jason Adams will officiate.
Burial will be at Godwin cemetery in Bratt.
Pallbearers will be Alton Moore III, Stan Marks, Joshua Marks, Ronnie McNesby, Benjamin Haines and Michael Hemley.

Rufus Wayne McNorton

Rufus Wayne McNorton, 67, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at his residence. Mr. McNorton was an electrician and project engineer for different companies overseas. He was a member of Electrician Local IBEW#676. Rufus never met a stranger, was very outgoing, and a friend to many people. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Dorothy McNorton.
He is survived by his brother, Lynn (Betty) McNorton; sisters, Faye (Terry) Boyington and Kaye (Ellis) Perlman; niece, Dana McNorton Hall and a nephew, Michael McGlothlin.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Bill Flannigan.
Interment will follow at Gonzalez United Methodist Church Cemetery.
