Lester Norman Waddell, Jr.

Lester Norman “Norm” Waddell, Jr., 82, died on November 16, 2017, in Pensacola, Florida. He was born on September 9, 1935, in Monroe, Louisiana to Lester Norman Waddell, Sr. and Gladys Brasher Waddell.

Norm graduated from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1958. He worked as an engineer with Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi for 32 years retiring as Director of Facilities and was very proud of the excellent work Ingalls and his group there did over the years. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Norm and his wife, Carol, relocated to Pensacola.

Norm is preceded in death by his parents; brother Gerry; and granddaughter, Ashleigh Krin.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Perdue Waddell; his children, Wayne (Jennifer) Waddell of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Camille (Tom) Ashton of Cantonment, Florida; and Glenn (Mary Ann) Waddell of Birmingham, Alabama; and 10 grandchildren.

Norm loved his family, his dogs, reading, history, and the University of Alabama. He made the most important decision of his life shortly before his death when he acknowledged the truth of Christianity and submitted to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

The family will hold a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in Norm’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Ashleigh Krin Waddell.

Laurie Bryars Moseley

Laurie Bryars Moseley, age 84, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the nursing home in Bay Minette, AL. She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills in Atmore, AL with 47 years of service. She was born in Atmore, AL to the late Clarence and Mae Bryars. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Bay Minette, AL and was affectionately known as “Bang Bang”. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Steve Moseley; brothers, Clarence Bryars, Jr., Ellis Bryars and Elton Bryars and sisters, Julia Gibbs and Ruth Caraway.

Mrs. Moseley is survived by her husband of 62 years, J.T. Moseley of Bay Minette, AL; sisters, Betty Vinson and Sammie (Lonnie) Turberville of Atmore, AL and Mary (Charles) Fickling of Perdido, AL; granddaughters, Blaire (Chris) Singleton of Atmore, AL, Gina (Jonathan) Wetzel of Crestview, FL, Miranda (Tony) Moody of Byrneville, FL and grandson, Denver Moseley of Atmore, AL; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Singleton, Cole Singleton, Talerie McGhee, Chesnea Wetzel, Brody Wetzel, Hunter Moseley, Hudson Moody, MaryStephen Moody, Asher Moseley and Dylan Estes.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Reece officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Singleton, Jonathan Wetzel, Tony Moody, Denver Moseley, Hunter Moseley and John Turberville.

James Pfeiffer

November 10, 2017

James (Jim) Pfeiffer of Pensacola, FL, went home to his Heavenly Father and joined his departed loved ones on November 8, 2017. He was born on May 18, 1937, to the late Everett Henry and Eula Mae Pfeiffer in Musscogee, FL. He honorably served the people of Florida as a member of the Florida Marine Patrol for many years. He started and was owner of Jim Pfeiffer Furniture Refinishing and Repair for 47 years. In the 1960’s, Jim was a volunteer firefighter for Interarity Point Volunteer Fire Department and West Pensacola Volunteer Fire Department. Jim was a charter member of Windy Hill Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Renee Pfeiffer Hood; brother, Ted M. Pfeiffer; sisters-in-law, Hazel and Barbara Pfeiffer; and niece, Wilda Pfeiffer Mohr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gwen Pfeiffer; son, Everett (Cynthia) Pfeiffer; grandchildren, April (Terry) Macks, Shannon (Bryce) Rollins, Ashley Hood and Aspen (Lane) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Hayleigh, Breanna, Hannah, McKenna, Brooklyn and Lora, Landon, Jackson and Tyler; brother, Kenneth Pfeiffer; sister, Laurita (Ben) Austin; sister-in-law, Ruth Tomblin and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the following for their tremendous support: Dr. Dan Doty, Dr. Miguel Gutierrez-Diaz, Dr. James Watkins, Dr. Ian L. Weisberg, the staff of Sacred Heart and Baptist Hospitals, Emerald Coast Hospice and Peoples Home Health Care.

Mrs. Lillie Bell Miller, 91, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017.

Mrs. Miller was born in Freemanville, AL and was a life long resident of Davisville, Florida and Atmore, Alabama. She was a member of the Presley Street Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Odis E. Miller; parents, Daniel and Isabell Condrey; son, Edward Wayne Miller, four sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by one son Thomas E. Miller (Linda) of Atmore, AL; one daughter Wynell M. Bell of Atmore, AL; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Debora Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pinebarren Cemetery.

Charles Douglas Andrews

Mr. Charles Douglas Andrews, age 83, of Century, FL, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Century Health & Rehabilitation Center in Century, FL.

Mr. Andrews was born in Jay, FL, and was a lifetime member of the Century community where he owned and operated several businesses including Century Bait Shop. He worked at Container Corporation in Brewton, AL as a machine tender. Mr. Andrews was an avid gardener and fisherman. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Myrtle Campbell Andrews, and his granddaughter, Stephanie.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Mary Andrews of Century, FL, children, Sandra (Tommy) Greenwell of Molino, FL, Anne (Kenny) Powell of Flomaton, AL, Steven Douglas (Sandra) Andrews of Jay, FL and John David Andrews of Pensacola, FL; sister, Linda Sue (Douglas) McGhee of Spanish Fort, AL; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m.

Interment will follow in McCurdy Cemetery, Century, FL.

Charlotte Miller

Charlotte Miller, 81 of Robinsonville AL. passed away Sunday November 05, 2017 at Her residence.

She was a Retired School Teacher with 30 years service from Escambia FL. School System, born in Escambia County, AL. on August 28, 1936 to the late D.C. (Dud) and Martha Reaves Troutman. She was a member of Robinsonville Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by Her Parents, Brothers, John (Dudley) Troutman and Scottie Troutman. A Grandson, Rex Miller Raley.

Survivors are: Her husband, of 59 years, James Miller of Robinsonville, AL. Children, Hope Miller Zeanah of Elberta, AL. Russell Miller of Robinsonville, AL. Granddaughter: Holly Raley (Barrett) VanSise of Fairhope, AL. Great-Grandchildren: Graysen Elizabeth VanSise and Barrett Sullivan VanSise.

Services will be Wednesday November 08, 2017 at 11AM from Robinsonville Baptist Church, with Rev. Phil Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are, Dean Smith, Walter Dewitt, Rip Christensen, Barrett Van Sise, Clay Helton, and Brandon Smith.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday November 08, 2017 at Robinsonville Baptist Church, from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.

William Delwin Huggins

Mr. William Delwin Huggins, age 90, of Flomaton, AL passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Huggins was a native of McKenzie, AL and had been a resident of the Flomaton community since 1965 coming from Greenville, AL. He attended Troy University on a football scholarship for a year. Mr. Huggins was a vetern of the United States Navy where he achieved the Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Award as a Motor Machinist’s Mate Third Class. He was retired from CSX Railroad after working 30 years as a signal maintainer. Mr. Huggins was a member of Flomaton United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Huggins.

He is survived by sons, William Anthony ‘Tony’ Huggins of Montevallo, AL and Edward Lance Huggins; daughter, Kimberly Huggins of Flomaton, AL; brother, Carl Huggins of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Nicki Hill, Amanda Broadhead, Scott Huggins; great-grandchildren, Chasity Broadhead, Kinsley Broadhead, Aceson Broadhead and Ava Jo Hill.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 11 AM until a 12 NOON service time.

Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Greenville, AL.

Gloria J. Bowen, 80 of Walnut Hill, FL passed away Saturday November 04, 2017 at her residence.

She was a retired Seamstress with Vanity Fair Mills, born in Monroe county, AL. on February 11, 1937, to the late Mitchell Jackson and Laura Aurelia Coley Byrd. She was a member of the Nokomis Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James W. Bowen , brothers: Jack Byrd, Grady Byrd, and Keith Byrd and a sister: Bonnie Singleton.

Survivors: Three Sons: Richard (Christy) Bowen of Pensacola, FL. Douglas (Mary Anne) Bowen of Walnut Hill, FL. Robbie (Lisa) Bowen of Loxley, AL. Three Sisters: Virginia Jennie (Donnie) Broxson of Milton, FL.

Larry Allen

November 7, 2017

Larry Allen, 65, of Molino, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2017. He was an avid bass fisherman, who previously was a well respected fishing guide on Lake Seminole and a licensed Florida auctioneer. He did many charitable auctions for Ducks Unlimited, Wild Turkey Federation and Crippled Children’s Home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mamie Allen.

He is survived by his son, Rodney Allen (Carol) and their children, Gracie Allen, and Brady Allen, of Cantonment, FL; son, Dale Allen (Joan) and their daughter, Justine Jamisola, Tampa, FL; sister, Sandra Smith; brother, Randy Allen (Jeannie); many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2017, beginning at noon, with services beginning at 1:00p.m. at Molino First Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at Pugh Cemetery.
