Harry Jule Demmon

Harry Jule Demmon, age 87, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Harry was born to Homer Pennick Demmon and Hatty L. Demmon on December 3, 1930 in San Jose, California.

Like many young men in those turbulent times, Harry joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He served for 4 years during the Korean War as an Aviation Support Equipment Technician. Harry met and married his wife Judy Resmondo in 1950 while stationed at Saufley Field in Pensacola FL. In their 12 years of marriage they had two daughters, Brenda Sue and Debbie. After his service in the Navy, Harry began a life-long career working as a conductor at the Frisco Railroad. Harry met his late wife Carole Ann Lisbon in 1972, who he had a son with, Harry Jr., and helped raise two step-children, Dawn and Robert.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Homer P. and Harriet L. Demmon; brothers, Chuck and Homer Demmon; sisters, Roberta Patterson and Maxine Demmon; and his first and second wives, Judy and Carole Ann Demmon.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Sue Reeder (Frank); daughter, Debbie Peterson (Jimmy); son, Harry J. Demmon Jr. (Kamilla); son, Dr. Robert P. Larys M.D (Rebecca); daughter, Dawn Marie Whitehead (Stephen); seven grandchildren, Bryson, Jacob, Justin, Chrissy, Shana, Julie and Derek; and 10 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Justin Reeder, Brendan Reeder, Derek Peterson, Tyler Peterson, Jacob Demmon, and Austin Serwack; Danny Weber and Phillip Steel will serve as honorary pallbearers.

A celebration of the life of Harry Jule Demmon will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, with Byron Wiggins and Carl Culbertson officiating. Harry  J. Demmon’s family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will follow Wednesday service at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 5805 Beulah Church Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526.

Danny Wayne Boyington

December 12, 2017

Danny Wayne Boyington, 53 of Atmore, AL, passed away Monday December 11, 2017 in Atmore. He was a truck driver with Jetts Logging Company. He was born in Atmore, AL on March 1, 1964 to O’Neal and Imma Jean Hadley Boyington.

He is preceded in death by his father, O’Neal Boyington; sister, Racheal Reeve; and a niece, Virginia Radford.

Survivors include his wife, Belinda Caraway Boyington, of Atmore; mother, Imogene Boyington of Atmore; two daughters, Krystel (Pedro) Martinez of Poarch, AL and Daniela Boyington of Atmore; three brothers, Rodney (Becky) Boyington of Perdido, AL, Jimmy (Michelle) Boyington of Atmore and Mark (Britney) Boyington of Huxford, AL; three sisters, Ester (Doug) Smith of Atmore, Linda (Dewayne) Salter of Poarch, AL and Lisa (Terry) Garrick of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Taylor, Kyler, Tennesse, and Karter; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.

Interment will follow in Lottie New Home Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Boyington, Mark Boyington, Ashley Salter, Joe Smith, Kevin Boyington and Dustin Boyington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Boyington and Pedro Martinez.

Family will receive friends, Thursday December 14, 2017, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time.

Bruce Monroe Windsor Jr.

Bruce Monroe Windsor Jr, 77, of Pensacola, FL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a Vietnam veteran and proud Mustang retiring from the Marine Corp as a Captain with 23 yrs of service. Upon retiring from the Corp, he went on to a 20 yr career in Civil Service working at NADEP then at NETPDC. He got his start at NADEP in the carpentry shop, while earning a Masters Degree in Business Management. He concluded his federal service employment as a Man Power Specialist at NETPDC. A longtime community servant while leading multiple prison ministries and 12 Step Programs at Saufley Field Federal Prison, Camp Five and the Warrington community. Bruce made a huge impact on so many lives.

Bruce loved to play music, particularly his Dobro. Had done events at numerous churches, nursing homes and was also involved in the local areas “Senior Follies”. An avid woodworker, golfer and longtime starter at AC Read Golf Course where he was affectionately known to many as the “Playground Director”. He was a loving father, devoted husband and friend to many. There are no words to express how much he will be missed….until we meet again.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Monroe Windsor, Sr.; his mother, Evelyn Windsor Reynolds; grandmother, Kate Toy Windsor, known to all as, Mama; sister, Marion Blanchard and his daughter, Pamela Windsor Campbell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nicole Bernicken; son, Bruce Monroe Windsor III (Petrina); daughter, Terry Windsor Cherry (Larry); stepdaughters, Rhiannon B. Kinsey (Mathew) and Michelle Azevedo; mother of biological children, Nancy W. Carnley (Jerry); sisters, Grace Cutchings (Wayne), Linda Altman (Thomas) and Susie Tryall (Wayne); 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many other close family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Duke Chapman and Chuck Rettew.

A Memorial service will be held on December 16, 2017 at 11:00am at Faith Chapel in Pensacola

Louise Newton Fillingim Dockens

Mrs. Louise Newton Fillingim Dockens, 89, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 in Century, Florida.

Mrs. Dockens was a native of Byrneville, FL and has resided in Christian Home, FL since 1976. She retired from Abernathy Hospital with 15 years of service and was a member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Thomas F. Fillingim, Sr. and late husband, Harley Dockens, one son, Neil C. Fillingim, daughter-in-law, Sonya Dyess Fillingim; daughter, Margaret Gail Fillingim Chavers, son-in-law, Seaborn Chavers and granddaughter, Crystal Fillingim Criswell.

She is survived by her two sons, John J. (Patsy) Fillingim of Jay, FL and Thomas (Fay) Fillingim, Jr. of McDavid, FL; two step-sons, Harley Lee (Betty) Dockens of Poquoson, VA and Randy (Hedi) Dockens of New Town, PA; one daughter, Susan (Leslie) Barnes of Christian Home, FL; two sisters, Duffie Wells of Bluff Springs, FL and Martha Sims of Bluff Springs, FL; one sister-in-law, Emma Lee Newton of Bluff Springs, FL; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Hawkins and Bro. Wayne Long officiating.

Burial will follow at the Christian Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Rebecca A. Ashby

Rebecca A. Ashby, 80, passed away into the presence of her Lord on December 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born in High Point, NC on September 17, 1937, she was a graduate of High Point Central High School and attended High Point University for one year. She loved to work with numbers and worked as an accountant and bookkeeper at various locations. She taught herself the art of knitting and made many charming baby blankets and doll clothes to give to her friends and family. She especially loved children and welcomed each new one coming into her world with a knitted gift. Piano was her instrument of choice and she had played the piano since the age of eight. She expressed her love and praise for Christ and her Christian faith by playing the piano at her church, Dogwood Park Baptist church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ruth Lanier and her son James Martin Ashby.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jimmy Ashby; sons Jeffrey M. Ashby and Matthew G.(Doanie) Ashby; grandson Jeffrey M. Ashby, Jr. and granddaughter Nicole L. Jordan; great-grandchildren, Hayleigh and Hannah Macks, Trenton Jordan and Keaton Davis.

Funeral services were held December 9, 2017 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Rusty Branch officiating.

Julia Nell Strickland O’Farrell

Mrs. Julia Nell Strickland O’Farrell, age 84 of Bratt, FL, received her angel wings while surrounded by her beloved family on the afternoon of December 2, 2017.

Julia Nell spent her lifetime bringing joy, comfort, and kindness to all who knew her. She lived a joyful and selfless life, always giving what she had and never expecting anything in return. She was kind, loving, caring, gentle, and one of the sweetest ladies this world has ever known. A true and shining example of how we all should live.

Julia Nell was preceded in death by her father, James Strickland, her mother, Vera Daniels Strickland, and her sister Bobbie White.

Her beautiful, kind, loving, and selfless spirit will live on through those she has left behind; her beloved husband of nearly 69 years, Ernest Ellis O’Farrell of Bratt, FL; her sister, Gloria Faye Kent (Jerry) of Brewton, AL; her brother, Ricky Strickland (Brenda) of Pensacola, FL; her three children, Julie O’Farrell Fountain (David Findley) of Atmore, AL, Brenda O’Farrell Pitts (Freddy) of Madison, FL, and Ernest Hallrick (Hal) O’Farrell (Patty) of Ozark, AL; her grandchildren, Bill Fountain of Lake Villa, IL, Angie Pitts Santee of Naples, FL, Burt Pitts of Crawfordville, FL, Nellie Pitts Blair of Live Oak, FL, Christina O’Farrell of Houston, TX, Danielle Clark of Yulee, FL, Jennifer Morgenroth-O’Farrell of Bermerhaven, Germany, and Janet O’Farrell of St. Albans, WV; 15 great-grandchildren; and her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Services were held at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, AL on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, with Rev. LaDon Hall presiding. Eulogy was delivered by her son-in-law, Freddy Pitts.

Burial ceremony was at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Carolyn Monti Allen, 69, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 in Atmore, Alabama.

Mrs. Allen was a native of Pensacola, FL, former resident of Atmore, AL and has resided in Bay Minette, AL for the past 2 ½ years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was of the Pentecostal Faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie & Doris Monti and two sister-in-laws, Barb Monti and Janet Monti.

She is survived by her three daughters, Stephanie (Jeremy) Downey of Bay Minette, AL, Stacey (Jade) Boone of Stockton, AL and Tonya Allen of Atmore, AL; two sons, Jimmy (Laura) Allen of Molino, FL and Timmy Allen of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Skip Monti of Pensacola, FL and Lewis Monti of Pensacola, FL; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. John Michael Kilpatrick officiating.

Burial was at the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Gabriele Schoonover

Gabriele “Gaby” Schoonover, age 67, of Pensacola, FL went home to her heavenly father Saturday, November 25, 2017.

Gaby was born in Karlsruhe, Germany and moved to the United States and resided in Pensacola, Florida for the last 30 years. She had many accomplishments is her life but the most notable was the love she had for her husband and her children, including her porch children. Every child was always welcome and they all loved her as much as her own children. Gaby was a giver and regularly donated to the ASPCA and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Gaby is preceded in death by the love of her life, whom she spent 34 wonderful years with, Richard D. Schoonover and her daughter, Erika Douglas.

She is survived by daughters, Judith Flugler and Samantha Schoonover; son’s Richard M. Schoonover and Grady Schoonover; grandson, David Flugler, granddaughter, Lileigh Schoonover; sister’s, Dagmar Alexander and Ursula Lovell (Richard); brother, Werner Turk; numerous nieces, nephews and friends and her number one baby, Dixiebug.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 4, 2017, with Rev. Mike Mashburn officiating.

Interment was at Resthaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daphne Dubus, Sarah Cabrera, Velda Law, Nicole Gonzalez, Randall Lovell and Chad Ogelsby.

Mr. Dennis Alvin Garrett, Jr., 51, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Pensacola, Florida.

Mr. Garrett was native and former resident of Bay Springs, FL and has resided in Molino, FL for the past 8 years. He was a retired LPN with 24 years of service and was a barber for two years. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel A. “Butch” Garrett and Henson & Cannie Hayles.

He is survived by his father & step-mother, Dennis A. and Sara Garrett, Sr. of Walnut Hill, FL, mother, Sarah Hayles Garrett of Poarch, AL; wife, Sue Gulsby Garrett of Molino, FL; one step-son, Gabe Rhea of Molino, FL; one step-daughter, Susan Wyse-Wright of Molino, LF; two brothers, Jamie Lynn (Tracy) Garrett of Pineville, FL and William David Garrett of Pensacola, FL; grandmother, Mary Lee Garrett of Bay Springs, FL; one grandchild, Lyndzi Wright; one niece, Saige Garrett; two nephews, Blayne Garrett and Lucas White and two very special friends, Oliver Sledge and Anita Pugh. He had many, many friends and coworkers from his nursing days in New Orleans at Lakeland Hospital and Tulane Medical Center.

Mr. Randy Theo Covan, 56, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in Brewton, Alabama.

Mr. Covan was a native of Century, FL and had resided in Brewton, AL since 1985. He was of the Holiness Faith. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Hayes.

He is survived by his parents, Bill and Alene Covan of Century, FL; three sons, Jason (Wendy) Covan of Brewton, AL, William (Jennifer) Covan of Uriah, AL and William Robbins of Brewton, AL; two daughters, Tina (Jason) Johnson of Thomasville, GA and Tasha (Jesse) Benoit of Gueydan, LA; one brother, Raford (Tina) Covan of Pace, FL; one sister, Recinda (Buck) McCormick of Milton, FL; and nine grandchildren, Tara Johnson, Jason Johnson, Jr., Christopher Benoit, Zachary Benoit, Ryan Covan, Cheyanna Covan, William “Cole” Covan, William “Jr” Robbins and Miranda Robbins.
