Lots of tropical moisture from the remnants of Tropical Depression 5 will being scattered showers and thunderstorms all weekend.

Deputies Seek Suspects In Gas Station Murder

A man was gunned down at an Escambia County gas station Tuesday night, and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has named two suspects in the death.

Escambia Sheriff’s investigators said Omar Shereef Hickenbotham, 18, and Tyrone Vincent Moultrie, 21, are suspects in the shooting death that occurred Tuesday night at an Exxon Gas Station parking lot located on West Fairfield Drive in Pensacola.  Arrest warrants have not yet been issued for either man.

The victim’s name is being withheld until out of town next of kin are notified. He was found lying in a ditch behind the Exxon station.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620.

Rosa. In southeast Mississippi…George and stone.

* the heavier rains are possible generally south of a line from
Wiggins Mississippi to Citronelle…Bay Minette Alabama to
Crestview Florida. Latest forecasts call for storm total rains of 3
to 5 inches during the duration of watch. A few areas may see locally
higher amounts of around 6 inches.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Autopsy Today On Body Found Next To Highway 29 In McDavid

An autopsy is scheduled for today on the body of a man found  Tuesday morning in McDavid.

The body was found lying face down in high grass a few feet off the side of Highway 29 just north of the West Fraser McDavid sawmill. Authorities are not yet releasing the man’s identity.

According to Sgt. Ted Roy, spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, authorities do not yet know how the man died. Roy said it was not clear if he died of natural causes, if he was hit by a passing vehicle or if foul play was involved. As the investigation continues, Roy said the case was being treated as a homicide until evidence indicates otherwise.

Tropical System Dissipates; Lots Of Rain Still Possible

Tropical Depression Five dissipated this afternoon, and all tropical weather warnings were dropped for the Gulf Coast. However, the remnants of the system will continue to move across the northern Gulf, potentially bringing lots of rain to Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The weather service says five or more inches of rain could fall through Friday afternoon. A flash flood watch has been issued for the area.

Tropical Storm Warning Issued

August 10, 2010

The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm warning that includes Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

The entire warning area is from Destin to Intracoastal City, Louisiana.

Tropical Depression 5 has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. The system is expected to make landfall along the north central Gulf Coast by late Wednesday or early Thursday as Tropical Storm Danielle.

Learn About Candidates In WSRE Series

WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast, will present “Rally 2010,” a primary and general election television candidate forum beginning Monday night.

The first installment of “Rally 2010” will air on WSRE Monday, August 9 through Wednesday, August 11 at 7 p.m. nightly and will focus on the August 24 primary election featuring local candidates from races in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties, as well as candidates for State Senate and House seats.

The program will be moderated by Dee Dee Sharp, journalist and on-air host of WSRE and Pensacola State College’s “AWARE”; Lloyd Patterson, on-air host of WSRE’s “Connecting the Community”; and Sandra Averhart, WUWF News Director. The second installment featuring candidates for the general election will take place October 18 and 19.
