Yard Sale Today To Benefit Ransom Middle Chorus

The Ransom Middle School Chorus will hold a huge rummage sale this morning. The sale will take place in the school cafeteria from 7:30 a.m. until noon with a wide variety of items.
Ransom is located at 1000 West Kingsfield Road in Cantonment. All proceeds benefit the Ransom Middle School Chorus.

Escambia Schools To Host Career Academy Showcase Thursday

The Escambia County School District Workforce Education Department will host the 2011 “Empower Your Mind” Middle School and High School Annual Career Academy Showcase, Thursday from 6-8 p.m., at the Woodham Middle School Gymnasium, 150 East Burgess Road in Penacola.
The following schools will be showcasing career academies: Middle Schools – Bellview, Ernest Ward, Warrington, Woodham, and Workman. High Schools – Escambia, Northview, Pensacola, Pine Forest, J.M. Tate, and Booker T. Washington.
All current students and families of fifth, sixth, eighth, and ninth grade students in Escambia County are invited to attend the academy showcase to meet academy instructors, students, business partners and to discover opportunities provided through participation in career academies.
The School Choice Department will also be available to assist families with completing applications on site. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this service after gaining insight into the various career academies offered throughout the district.
The career academy application deadline for high school is March 1, 2011 and the deadline for middle school is April 1, 2011. ‘Andrew Jackson’ To Appear In Barrineau Park

Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States and the military governor of pre-admission Florida, will make a special appearance at the Barrineau Park Community Center on Wednesday.
Jackson will be portrayed by Stan Schneider, who has presented a variety of historic figures in period costume. Schneider has entertained a variety of audiences in the past with his portrayals of a Civil War soldier, World War II soldier and other historic figures. The focus of the presentations is centered on how the local area was affected by the actions of these individuals.
Andrew Jackson, as portrayed by Stan Schneider, will appear at the Barrineau Park Community Center on Wednesday, January 26 at 11 a.m. The free event is sponsored by the Barrineau Park Historical Society. For more information, call (850) 587-5389.

Century Council Meeting Moved To Tonight
