Tickets Still Available For Saturday Night Mardi Gras Masquerade

You can celebrate Mardi Gras and help the American Cancer Society at the same time Saturday night.

Century’s Relay for Life team will hold a Mardi Gras Masquerade on Saturday, February 26 from 7-11 p.m. at the town’s Ag Building on West Highway 4. The featured entertainment will be the Will Inspire Band, a local favorite group with previous appearances at the 2009 Century Relay and the Teaspoon Festival.

The event will include red beans and rice, photo opportunities and a silent auction. Attire is Mardi Gras formal or costume. This is an adults-only event, but no alcohol is allowed on the community center property.

Tickets are $20 per person. Businesses or individuals can reserve a table for eight for $150. Tickets are available from any Relay for Life Century team, the Century Branch Library or the Century Town Hall. Tickets are limited.

Learn About Bullying, Drugs And More Tonight From Sheriff’s Office, DEA

Ernest Ward Middle School will host a Parent Awareness Night tonight to give the community a chance to learn more about bullying, the newest illegal drugs, cyberbullying and the dangers associated with Facebook, Myspace and other social networks.

Speakers and topics for the event will include:

  • John Johnson, DEA Special Agent, U.S. Justice Department — Drug Information
  • Zack Ward, Escambia County Sheriff’s Investigator  — Facebook, Myspace, Cyberbullying, Computer Issues
  • James Gill, ECSO School Resource Officer — Bullying, School Concerns

All parents and community members are invited to attend the event at 6:00 tonight n the school gymnasium.  Refreshments will be served.



Numerous Meth Related Arrests Made; Molino Meth Lab Raided

Names are expected to be released Wednesday after multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a series of raids and made numerous drug-related arrests across Escambia County Tuesday.

Investigators found an alleged methamphetamine lab during a raid at a home in the 400 block of Molino Road. At least one person was taken into custody at that address. Additional arrests were made across the county, including several residents of Molino and Cantonment.

Another alleged meth lab was raided at the Mayfair Motel on Mobile Highway in Pensacola.

Those arrested will make an initial appearance in state or federal court Wednesday, with most of the charges dealing with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

The identities of those arrested and their charges will be made public by federal authorities after the suspects make their initial court appearance Wednesday. NorthEscambia.com will update this story as more information becomes available.

Agenda Set For Century Council

The Town of Century will hold a committee meeting and regular council meeting Monday afternoon.

The town will hold a committee meeting to review engineering submissions for the Century Boulevard Gas Line Project and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Project at 3 p.m. The regular meeting of the Century Town Council will take place at 7 p.m.

Both meetings will take place in the Century Town Hall at 7995 North Century Boulevard and are open to the public.

Last Day Of Little League Registration In Molino, Cantonment

Today is the final day of registration for the  Molino Recreation Association at Don Sutton Park and Cantonment Little League.

Molino Recreation Association will hold registration each Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. through Saturday, February 19 at Don Sutton Park. The annual draft will be February 19 at 3 p.m.

Registration fees are $50 for the first child, $45 for the second, $40 for the third and free for additional players from the same family. A birth certificate copy is required to be on file for each child.

Cantonment registration will be Saturday, February 19 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.. Draft day is February 26 for ages 4-14.

Northwest Escambia Little League Junior and Senior leagues can register until March 19.
