‘Andrew Jackson’ To Appear In Barrineau Park

Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States and the military governor of pre-admission Florida, will make a special appearance at the Barrineau Park Community Center on Wednesday.
Jackson will be portrayed by Stan Schneider, who has presented a variety of historic figures in period costume. Schneider has entertained a variety of audiences in the past with his portrayals of a Civil War soldier, World War II soldier and other historic figures. The focus of the presentations is centered on how the local area was affected by the actions of these individuals.
Andrew Jackson, as portrayed by Stan Schneider, will appear at the Barrineau Park Community Center on Wednesday, January 26 at 11 a.m. The free event is sponsored by the Barrineau Park Historical Society. For more information, call (850) 587-5389.

Century Council Meeting Moved To Tonight

The council normally meets on the first and third Monday nights of each month, but last week’s regular meeting was postponed a week due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. at Century Town Hall, 7995 North Century Boulevard.

Today: Sheriff’s Office Offers Free Fingerprinting For Children

Free fingerprinting for children will be available today at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Substation in Century.
The fingerprinting will be offered from 10 a.m. until 2 pm. at the substation located at 7500 North Century Boulevard.
The event will be hosted by the Sheriff’s Office Explorers, a voluntary program that educates and involves young people in law enforcement operations whether or not they choose to enter a career in law enforcement. Members gain a working knowledge of police work and have the opportunity to serve their community.
Explorers receive training in patrol procedure, first aid, honor guard, criminal law, crime prevention, finger-printing, arrest techniques, drug abuse prevention, firearms safety, crime scene techniques and more.

Ball Registration In Molino And Walnut Hill Today; Last Day For NWE

Registration will be held today for Northwest Escambia Little League at Walnut Hill’s Bradberry Park and for the Molino Recreation Association at Don Sutton Park. Details for both parks are below.
Northwest Escambia Little League registration will be from 9 a.m. until noon today at Bradberry Park in Walnut Hill for ages three to 18. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required for registration.
Registration fees are $40 for the first child, $30 for the second child and free for additional children. The child will be measured for their uniform, and there will be a $20 deposit toward each child’s uniform fee.
Molino Recreation Association will hold registration each Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. through February 19 at Don Sutton Park. The annual draft will be February 19 at 3 p.m.
Registration fees are $50 for the first child, $45 for the second, $40 for the third and free for additional players from the same family. A birth certificate copy is required to be on file for each child.
