Northview Homecoming: What You Need To Know

It will be a big day in Bratt with the 2012 Homecoming at Northview High School. Homecoming festivities — including presentation of the homecoming court — will begin at about 6:00 Friday, with game kickoff set for 7 p.m.

4-H Task Force Application Deadline Is Today
October 26, 2012
Today is the last day to apply to be on Escambia County’s 4-H Task Force.
The group will be selected to study and review options that will address outdoor education, animal science programs and natural resources education.
The recent sale of the Langley Bell Center 4-H property marks a transformation for UF/IFAS4-H Youth Development Program in Escambia County. On May 3, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Escambia County Board of Commissioners, the University of Florida IFAS Extension and the Escambia County 4-H Foundation was approved by the county commission. The MOU is a legal binding contract and serves as the blueprint of the immediate goals for the local 4-H program.

The North Escambia area will be warm the next few days, but a strong cold front sliding through over the weekend will bring much cooler temperatures. The front won’t bring much rain, if any.

Campus Political Debate Tonight At UWF

The Young Americans for Liberty at the University of West Florida will sponsor a campus debate tonight for commissioners and candidates for the Escambia County Commission discussing important local level issues.
This event is being cosponsored by UWF College Republicans, UWF College Democrats, Students for Sensible Drug Policy and several other organizations. The event will begin with a panel discussion of the government’s role in various aspects of life and specific examples at the local level and then will be open to audience questions.
The debate will take place at 7 p.m. in UWF Building 36, Room 191.
Tate, Pace To Meet For District 1-6A Volleyball Title

Tate and Pace will face off tonight for the District 1-6A volleyball championship.
Wednesday, the Lady Aggies defeated the Navarre Raiders 25-19, 25-22, 25-16, and the top-seeded Pace Patriots beat last year’s champ Washington 25-22, 25-16, 25-20.
Tate and Pace will meet at 6:00 tonight at host Navarre High School. The winner will host a regional quarterfinal next Tuesday.
Mitt Romney To Attend Public Rally In Pensacola Saturday

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will visit Pensacola Saturday morning.
Romney will appear during a “Victory Rally” at the Pensacola Bay Center (formerly known as the Pensacola Civic Center) at 11:15 a.m. Doors will open at 9:15 a.m.
Tickets will be required for entry. For free tickets, visit www.mittromney.com/states/florida.
All attendees will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible. No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids, or signs will be allowed in the venue. Cameras are permitted.

Saturday: Williams Station Day 5K Run, One Mile Walk

The Williams Station Day 5K and One Mile Diabetes Walk will be held Saturday morning in Atmore.
The race begins at 8 a.m. on Pensacola Avenue near the Atmore YMCA and is flat course through residential streets. Pre-registration is $15 by Friday with a guaranteed t-shirt or $20 day of race.
A One Mile Diabetes Walk will begin after the run with a $5 registration.

Still Time To Enter NHS Homecoming Parade; Lunch Available Friday

The fourth annual Northview High School Homecoming Parade is this Friday, and a lunch will be available prior to the parade.
The parade will line up at 12:30 p.m. and travel from Bratt Elementary School to Northview High. Entries are being accepted now; there is no cost to enter. For a printable entry form, click here. Contact Perry Byars at (850) 327-6681 ext. 248 for more information.
A $6 meal prepared by Archie’s Catering Smokehouse will be available from 10:30 a.m. until noon from the football concession stand consisting of a BBQ pork sandwich, chips, soft drink and dessert. Tickets are available for pre-purchase at the school. All proceeds will benefit the Tommy Weaver Scholarship Fund.
The Northview Chief’s homecoming game will kickoff at 7 p.m. on October 26 against the Vernon Yellow Jackets.
