Local Reps Named To Florida House Committees

Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford named members of House committees on Monday. Local representatives were appointed to committees as follows:

  • District 1 Rep. Clay Ingram, who represents most of Escambia County, was named to the Appropriations, and the Local and Federal affairs committees.
  • District 2 Rep. Clay Ford, who represents southern Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, was named to the Judiciary and Rules committees.
  • District 3 Rep. Doug Broxson, whose district includes most of Santa Rosa County, was named to the Economic Affairs Committee.

FFA Fruit Sale Ends Tuesday

The NHS FFA is selling citrus in attractive 2/5 or 4/5 bushel boxes perfect for gift wrapping. The Florida citrus is from RiverBrite in Vero Beach.

Orders must be made by Tuesday, November 27. The delivery date is Tuesday, December 18.

Fruits available include red apples, grapefruit, navel oranges, tangelos and Hamlin oranges. Mixed trio half bushels are also available.

Jay Christmas Parade Is Saturday

The first area Christmas parade of the season is this Saturday in Jay.

The parade will lineup at the Bray-Hendricks Park behind city hall at 9 a.m. The parade will roll through downtown Jay at 10 a.m.

The Jay Historical Society will also sponsor the first annual Cotton Festival Saturday with over 40 vendors, children’s activities, entertainment and an antique car show. The Jay Historical Society’s museum will also be open, featuring crafts made from cotton.

Cut Cable Leaves Some Walnut Hill Residents Without Phone, Internet

November 21, 2012

A few hundred Frontier Communications customers lost phone and internet service this afternoon due to a cable cut in Walnut Hill.  The cable was reportedly cut by a contractor digging for the installation of new utility poles along Arthur Brown Road near Kansas Road.   The outage includes areas along Arthur Brown Road, Juniper Street, Cypress Street and Pine Forest Road.
