Sunrise, Special Services Planned For Easter Sunday

Here are some Easter related events planned for around the North Escambia area through Sunday:

CANTONMENT

St. Monica’s Cantonment Easter
Family Easter services will begin at 9:30 on Easter Sunday, followed by an Easter Egg hunt and Easter Brunch. 699 Highway 95A in Cantonment.

Trinity Lutheran Cantonment Easter
Trinity Lutheran Church in Cantonment will hold Easter Sunrise service at 7 a.m. followed by Easter Sunday breakfast from 7:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Easter Festival services will begin at 10 a.m. Worshippers are welcome to bring fresh cut flowers to join in the custom of flowering the cross. Holy Communion will not be observed at either worship service.

Harvest Christian Easter Services
Harvest Christian Center will hold their Easter services, Sunday, April 20 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. There will also be an egg hunt for the children. 1095 Muscogee Road in Cantonment. For more information visit www.cantonment.org or call (850) 937-0605.

Highland Baptist Easter
Highland Baptist Church will hold their annual Easter Egg hunt with over 2,000 eggs on Easter Sunday. Children and families need to meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9 a.m. There will be a time of worship, singing, snacks and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Easter worship services begin at 10:45. Aldersgate UMC Easter

Molino Sunrise Service
Highland Baptist Church and Aldersgate United Methodist Church will hold a joint Easter Sunrise service on April 20, at 6 a.m. at Aldersgate UMC in Molino. Everyone is invited to attend.

Hadji Shrine Easter Egg Hunt
The Hadji Shrine Center will hold their annual Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, beginning at 10 a.m. Lots of games and fun for the whole family. Hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks will be available. 800 West Nine Mile Road in Pensacola.

Race To Grace At 5 Flags
My Father’s Vineyard will host the 2nd Annual Race to Grace at 5 Flags Speedway on Pine Forest Road on Sunday, April 20. Gates open at 9:15 a.m. Services begin at 10 a.m. The Easter Bunny will be there, over 15 thousand Easter Eggs for the children to hunt, and a powerful worship service and a short, impacting message from Pastor Wes Alvarez.

Century To Get Sneak Peek At New Economic Development Plan

After months of work and input from residents, businesses and economic professionals, Century will get a sneak peek at their Economic Development Strategic Plan.

The Haas Center, , the research and consulting arm of the University of West Florida, updated on the town council on their work over the past six months during a special workshop meeting at 3 p.m. today.

In addition to research, the Haas Center has solicited input from area businesses, residents and other economic development agencies in the region in developing the plan, funded by a $25,000 a Community Planning Technical Assistance Grant from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity

Under the grant requirements, the Haas Center is developing an economic and demographic profile report, local and regional market area analysis, accepted input from local and regional stakeholders and soliciting input from a steering committee.

The final draft of the strategic plan is due to the town by April 30, with an implementation plan and funding matrix to be submitted by May 30.

ECSO ‘Clean Sweep’ Today In The Milestone Area

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the 9 1/2 Mile Road Neighborhood watch will conduct an “Operation Clean Sweep” beginning at 8:00 this morning in the Milestone community.

The event begins at the Milestone Baptist Church at 3800 Pine Forest Road. Volunteers are welcome.

The focus of “Operation Clean Sweep” is to work with neighborhood watch groups, residents, churches and business owners to control and prevent the damaging effects of crime. The Operation Task Force works closely with Escambia County Animal Control, Environmental Law Enforcement, the military, Escambia County Roads and Bridges, and Neighborhood Watch groups to clean up neighborhoods and educate citizens on preventive measures that could be implemented to minimize crime.

A traffic roadblock will be conducted and the mounted unit will be on hand to assist.
