Heat Advisory In Effect Again For Sunday

There is a heat advisory again for Sunday. Children, the elderly and people with chronic ailments are usually the first to suffer from the heat. Heat exhaustion, cramps or in extreme cases heat stroke can result from prolonged exposure to these conditions.
Here is your official North Escambia area forecast:
- Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.
- Sunday A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Increasing clouds and hot, with a high near 100. Heat index values as high as 107. Light northwest wind becoming north 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
- Sunday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75. North wind around 5 mph becoming east after midnight.
- Monday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 95. East wind 5 to 10 mph.
- Monday Night A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 5 mph.
- Tuesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Today is the final day of early voting for the August 26 primary. Seven early voting locations will be open today in Escambia County from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. –

- Genealogy Branch Library, 5740 N. 9th Avenue
- Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, 6655 W. Mobile Highway

- West Florida Public Library, 239 N. Spring Street
- Supervisor of Elections Main Office, 213 Palafox Place, Second Floor
As of the end of the day Friday, 3,646 people had voted early in Escambia County.

Short Stacks To Benefit Tate Showband

On Saturday, a pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. at Applebee’s at 165 East Nine Mile Road will also benefit the Tate High School Band. Tickets are $7, available from any band member or at the door
Northviews Chiefs Garnet And Gold Game Tonight
August 22, 2014
The Northview Chiefs will be in action tonight during a preseason Garnet and Gold game at Tommy Weaver Stadium in Bratt.
Players, band members, dance team, cheerleaders and NJROTC members will be introduced beginning at 6:15 p.m., with kickoff set for 7:00.

According to school administration:
There is no reserved parking. Anyone parking in the faculty-staff-visitor parking should enter through the student parking area to the gate at the bottom of the hill behind the softball field. The breezeway should not be used.
Anyone parking in the regular baseball-football parking area will proceed to the game through the double gates adjacent to the baseball field. Ticket sellers and ticket takers will be stationed by the games.
The entire Northview campus is a “Tobacco Free School Zone”. There is no smoking or tobacco products allowed on the campus in any area.

Temperatures will be on the rise for the rest of the week, but the heat index will be the big story the next few days. Heat indices of 103-108 are forecast Tuesday through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

ThunderRun Racing Boat On Display Wednesday In Cantonment

There’s a big event planned for Wednesday in Cantonment for racing fans.
The Stihl offshore racing boat US-1 will be on display Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at A-1 Small Engines in Cantonment.
A free lunch will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and prizes will be given away including the winner’s choice of a Stihl blower or a Stihl trimmer plus a 25 quart Engel cooler.
A-1 Accessories and A-1 Small Engines is located at 700 South Highway 29 in Cantonment.
The inaugural ThunderRun Super Boat Grand Prix will be held Sunday, August 24 in downtown Pensacola. Sunday’s races will start at 1 p.m. and 3 pm. with Plaza de Luna and Maritime Park designated as prime viewing areas.
About 800 Vote Early So Far; Early Voting Though Saturday

Early voting is underway for the 2014 Primary Election in Escambia County. As of Sunday night, after two days of early voting, 799 ballots were cast.
Early voting is available each day through Saturday, August 23 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the following locations:
