Reimagine Century Volunteer Meeting Tonight

A volunteer meeting to plan the upcoming Reimagine Century event will be held at 7:00 tonight at the Century Community Center.

Volunteers are urged to attend to learn how their church, business, ministry, or community agency can become involved in this third annual outreach event.

Reimagine Century 2016 will be held Saturday, May 21. The event will include a wide variety of activities, including a food giveaway, health screenings, live music, information from community agencies, a clothing giveaway, free lunch, youth and teen activities and sports and more.

Blood Drive Today In Century

There will be a blood drive today at the Century Correctional Institution on Tedder Road from 1:30 until 5:30 p.m. The public is welcomed, and encouraged to take part and donate.

There is a critical need for “O” and “B” type blood donors, according to OneBlood.

Relay For Life of Greater Escambia Meeting Tonight

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Greater Escambia will meet tonight at 6:oo at Heritage Baptist Church on Highway 297A in Cantonment.

Team Captains, team members, and members of the community are invited to hear guest speaker Larry Warrenfeltz. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a 26-year Navy veteran, a cancer survivor, community volunteer, an author, and retired from the  Institute for Human and Machine Cognition. He holds degrees in meteorology and ocenography.

The 2016 Relay For Life of Greater Escambia will take place on April 30 at the Pensacola Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Tornado Recovery: USDA Rural Development In Century Today

USDA Rural Development will be at the Century Town Hall today  from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. to meet with applicants interested in information about USDA’s Single Family Housing Loan Program for new construction, repair, renovation or purchase of a home or the Single Family Housing Repair Loan/Grant Program for minor repairs

taff will be on hand to accept applications, meet with clients, gather information, and provide advice and services. Income limits apply and the property must be owner occupied to receive assistance.

Barrineau Park Crash Claims Life Of Pensacola Man

February 28, 2016

A Pensacola man was killed in a single vehicle crash near Barrineau Park Saturday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 55-year old Ramon G. Roscom was traveling south on Highway 99 just north of Barrineau Park Road in a 2002 Chevrolet pickup just before 4 p.m.  He traveled onto the shoulder of the road for an unknown reason and over-corrected, causing the pickup to roll over onto Highway 99. Roscom was ejected and pronounced deceased on the scene.

His passenger, 21-year old Breanna D. Williams of Pensacola, was not injured.

Highway 99 was closed for over three hours by as the FHP conducted their investigation.
