Public Meeting: Highway 29 Six-Laning From I-10 To Nine Mile
August 17, 2016
The Florida Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting for work beginning soon on Highway 29 from I-10 to north of Nine Mile Road) n Escambia County. The meeting will be held Thursday, August 25 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. CDT at Smyrna Baptist Church, 7000 Pensacola Boulevard.
The $48.9 million project includes widening Highway 29 from I-10 to north of Nine Mile Road from four to six travel lanes. Additional improvements include replacing the bridge over Nine Mile Road, roadway lighting, sidewalks, bike lanes, signalization improvements, and drainage upgrades. FDOT representatives will be available to provide information about planned construction work and potential impacts.
Construction activities are scheduled to begin in September 2016 and will require nighttime lane closures and speed limit reductions on Pensacola Boulevard. Weather permitting, the project is slated for completion summer 2020.

Northview Quarterback Club Meets Tonight, Seeks Members

The Northview High School football season kicks off Friday night, and the NHS Quarterback Club is looking for all football parents, friends and family to come out and support the Chiefs football team. The cost is join the Northview Quarterback Club is just $10 per family.
The next meeting of the Northview QB Club is tonight, August 16, at 6 p.m. in the Northview High School Media Center.

Teens: Enjoy Free Pizza And Books At The Molino Library

A “Pizza and Books” program will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Molino Branch Library.
Teens 13-17 are invited to join this book club designed to focus on their favorite reads. The library will provide the free pizza, and the teens will pick the books.
The Molino Branch Library is located at 6450-A Highway 95A in the Molino Community Complex.

Century Public Forum Tonight On $700,000 Grant Application

The Town of Century will hold a public forum this afternoon as part of the application process for a $700,000 grant for housing rehabilitation and replacement.
The town’s Community Development Block Grant Citizen’s Advisory Task Force (CATF) previously recommended that the council apply for the grant.
The public forum will take place during the Century Town Council’s regular meeting which begins at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
