Bridge Inspections Today On Hwy 4, Quintette Road

Drivers can expect possible delays on two North Escambia roadways today for Florida Department of Transportation bridge inspections.

The bridge on Highway 4 over Canoe Creek will be inspected from 8-11 a.m. The bridge is located between Vaughn Road and Bratt Road, between Bratt and Century.

The bridge on Quintette Road over the Escambia River will be inspected from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Both bridges will experience intermittent lane closures during the inspections. No bridge closures are expected. Drivers are urged to exercise caution at both bridges.

Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday Ends At Midnight

Sunday is the final day of a sale tax holiday on storm and disaster supplies in Florida.

Through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Florida will not charge sales tax on certain emergency preparedness supplies. Items ranging from reusable ice packs to portable generators up to $750 are covered by the “2017 disaster preparedness sales tax holiday.”

$20,000 Reward Offered For Info On Missing 12-Year Old Girl

UPDATE: Body Of Missing 12-Year Old Naomi Jones Discovered

Federal and state law enforcement agencies are offering a $20,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of a missing 12-year old Pensacola girl, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

Naomi Jones was last seen in the 1400 block of East Johnson Avenue about 1 p.m. Wednesday wearing a red spaghetti strap shirt, red, white and blue American flag shorts and  a white choker necklace.

Headquartered at Olive Baptist Church, numerous volunteers have combed the nearby area searching for Jones.

Hurricane Supplies Are Tax Free This Weekend In Florida

A three-day sales tax holiday on storm supplies is underway in Florida.

Through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Florida will not charge sales tax on certain emergency preparedness supplies. Items ranging from reusable ice packs to portable generators up to $750 are covered by the “2017 disaster preparedness sales tax holiday.”

“I was proud to sign a tax cut package that includes a disaster preparedness sales tax holiday so families and businesses have additional opportunities to get the supplies they need to be prepared. With the 2017 hurricane season beginning today, I encourage all Floridians to take advantage of this weekend’s disaster preparedness sales tax holiday and ensure your family is safe, “Gov. Rick Scott said.
