Charges Dropped Against Century Man Accused Of Battery On His Mother

Criminal charges have been dropped against Century man that was arrested for aggravated battery on his mother.
Javis Cain Grimes, 33, was charged with felony aggravated battery causing bodily harm, but those charges were dropped by the State Attorney’s Office. An Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report stated that Grime’s mother told deputies that he had shoved her into a wall, causing facial injuries.
However, the victim told prosecutors that Grimes did not push her as the arrest report stated, and she requested that charges be dropped almost immediately after his arrest.
“She said it was all just a misunderstanding,” Assistant State Attorney Greg Marcille said.

‘Boom’ Truck Pulls Down Power Lines, Snaps Utility Poles

About 30 Gulf Power company customers lost power this afternoon in the Perdido Lake Road area of Cantonment when a sanitation company boom truck contacted power lines. The boom then pulled down wires and snapped multiple utility poles about 2:30 p.m., according to reports.
Gulf Power provided an initial repair estimate of about three hours, according to their reporting system.
Additionally, cable and telephone lines were reported to be downed.
There were no injuries.

Century Man Charged With Battery On His Mother

A Century man was jailed for aggravated battery on his mother.
Javis Cain Grimes, 33, was charged with felony aggravated battery causing bodily harm.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to an aggravated battery on Gilmore Road near Century where Grime’s mother told deputies that he had shoved her into a wall. Deputies noted in their report that she suffered a one-inch cut over her eye that appeared to needed stitches.
A witness told deputies that Grimes had been drinking heavily and “smoked a blunt” before he “just went crazy”, according to an arrest report.
Grimes was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
