Thursday: Lane And Ramp Closures Planned On I-10 Near Hwy 29

Drivers will encounter the following traffic impacts on I-10 near Highway 29 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday as crews perform striping work.

  • Alternating lane closures on I-10 eastbound near U.S. 29 (Exits 10A and 10B).
  • The on-ramps from  U.S. 29 to I-10 eastbound will be intermittently closed. U.S. 29 southbound traffic will be detoured to Diamond Dairy Road to make a U-turn and access I-10. U.S. 29 northbound traffic will be detoured to Broad Street to make a U-turn and access I-10. The ramps will not be closed at the same time.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather

Northview Football Hosting Womanless Beauty Pageant Tonight

Tax Collector Seeks Concealed Weapons Permit Applicants In Molino At Reduced Rate

The Escambia County Tax Collector’s Office is looking for a few customers interested in obtaining or renewing their concealed weapons permit to help them in Molino..

“As part of our training for our Molino office, on December 12 and 13 we will offer appointments to citizens to be our training customers. We are looking for customers who can be flexible and patient,” Kelly Cooke, spokesperson for Tax Collector Scott Lunsford, said.  “The tax collector fee up to $22 will be waived, and this opportunity is available on a first come/first served basis to the first 20 individuals who schedule their appointment.”

“If you are interested and would like to schedule during this time, please email your request to ectc@EscambiaTaxCollector.com and include your name and phone number. We will contact you to determine their eligibility and schedule the appointment,” she said.

The Molino tax collection office will officially begin offering original applications and renewals of concealed weapon licenses on December 14.

While renewal licenses will be printed in the office, new applications still will be submitted to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for final approval. The statutory turnaround time for this process is within 90 days.

The Escambia County Tax Collector Molino Office is located at 6440 Highway 95-A North, Suite A, in the Molino Community Complex.

Christmas Parades Set For This Weekend; PCI, Brewton Postpone Parades

Several Christmas parades are planned in the North Escambia area this weekend, while the Poarch Creek Indians and the Brewton Chamber of Commerce have rescheduled their parades.

Poarch of Creek Indians Christmas Parade

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians 2017 Annual Christmas Parade “Traditions of Christmas” has been postponed until Tuesday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m..  For more information, call (251) 368-9136 ext. 2107.

Brewton Christmas Parade

The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade has been rescheduled to Saturday at 6 p.m. The parade will line-up in East Brewton on Shoffner Street. It will come down Forrest Avenue over the bridge to Mildred Street. The parade will turn right at the light as it crosses the tracks and then will turn left onto Belleville Avenue. The Brewton/East Brewton Baptist Churches will have a concert after the parade at the mural where the Choo Choo Market is located. Lots of floats, bands and of course Mrs. Claus and the big guy himself will be riding in the parade.

Atmore Twilight Christmas Parade

The 2017 Atmore Twilight Christmas Parade will be Saturday , December 9 at 5:30 p.m. The two-mile long parade will travel from City Hall down Main Street to Lindberg Avenue. For more information: (251) 368-3305.

Jay Christmas Parade and Celebration on Commerce Street

The Jay Christmas Parade will leave the city park at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 9. Christmas booths will be open 8 a.m. until 2p.m. on Commerce Street. Visits and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus immediately after the parade. More info: (850) 675-4556

Pensacola Christmas Parade

The Pensacola Christmas Parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 9 with nearly 90 entries and eight bands from Escambia County and beyond, and the Blue Angels. Spring Street to Palafox north to Wright, back south on Palafox to Government.

Let It Snow! Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A winter weather advisory has been issued for the North Escambia area. Snow is in the forecast tonight, with up to 1 inch accumulation.  Ice may also form on bridges and overpasses, making driving dangerous. There is also a freeze warning in effect for tonight.
