Highland To Present Christmas Production Tonight

Highland Baptist Church will present a special performance of their Christmas program tonight so that members of the community and other churches can attend.
Highland will present “His Kingdom Shall Never End” at 6:00 tonight.
“We want to invite the community to come and hear our musical on a night other than their own services on Sunday,” Phil Jones, music director, said.
The musical will be presented again Sunday night at 6:00. It features drama, special lighting, narration, soloists, trios, duets and scenes from the Christmas story in the elaborate production.
Highland Baptist is located on Highway 95A in Molino. Both performances are free and open to the public.
Flomaton To Celebrate Centennial, Hold Christmas Parade

Flomaton will celebrate their centennial anniversary today beginning at noon with a dedication and open house for the Welcome Center and Railroad Museum. The celebration will conclude at 5:15 with a fireworks show.
The annual Christmas parade will take place at 2 p.m. in downtown Flomaton. It will begin at the intersection of Cary Street and Palafox Street, go north on Palafox to College, then to Houston and south to Ringold Street finally ending at the back of Cary Street.
The Flomaton High School band will perform a Christmas concert at 4 p.m.
Free Truth For Youth Lock-in And Rally Today

Truth For Youth, Inc. and New Life Baptist Church will hold the second annual “Save Our Children Lock-in and Report Card Rally” from 1 until 6 p.m. today at the old Century High School.
The event is for boys and girls ages six to 16. There will be free food, music and other entertainment, fun and games.
Parental permission is required to attend. Permission slips are available today from Panhandle Cafe, New Life Baptist Church and Century Pharmacy.

No Surprise: Another Dense Fog Advisory This Morning

It’s becoming a regular morning event across North Escambia — the dense fog advisory.
The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory until 9:00 this morning for the North Escambia area.
A persistent southeasterly wind flow off the Gulf as again allowed widespread dense sea fog to spread into parts of southeast Mississippi, southwest Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle.
Visibilities will be one-quarter mile or less across much of the region. The fog is expected to begin lifting around 9:00 this morning.
A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
At The Library: Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Today

Santa Claus is scheduled to pay a special visit to the Century Branch Library this afternoon for the library’s Winter Wonderland program.
The event begins at 4:00 this afternoon and will include a Christmas story, crafts and cookies. Everything is free, and everyone is invited.
The Century Branch Library is located at 7991 North Century Boulevard.

School Early Release Days Begin Today

Today marks the first of three early release days for students at Northview High School, and Friday will be an early release day for all Escambia County public school students.
Northview students will have second and third period exams today, fourth and fifth period exams tomorrow and sixth and seventh period exams on Friday.
All Escambia County students will have an early release day on Friday.
Friday will be the last due of school before the Christmas break. Escambia students will return to school January 6, 2009.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Tonight At EWMS

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” will be presented tonight at Ernest Ward Middle School.
Students and faculty will take part in this drama and music program. Following the play, the chorus and band will perform.
The play begins at 6:00 tonight in the Ernest Ward gym. Students can purchase tickets during their lunches today for $3. Tickets at the door will be $4. All proceeds will be used to purchase sound equipment for the school. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Area Churchs To Present Christmas Programs Tonight

You can enjoy the sounds of the season as three area churches will present their Christmas programs tonight.
The First Baptist Church of Bratt worship choir will present “Joy, Joy, Joy” at 6:00 tonight in the church’s Family Life Center.
Dogwood Park Baptist Church will hold their annual Christmas musical featuring church children and adults at 6:00 tonight.
The Walnut Hill Baptist Church adult choir will present the Christmas cantata “Hope Has Hands” at 6 p.m.. A Christmas party will follow in the church fellowship hall.
The public is invited to attend each event.
Ole Folks Day Today In Byrneville

The annual Ole Folks Day will be held today at Byrneville United Methodist Church,
Beginning at 10:30 this morning, there will be singing, a worship service and lunch to follow. Everyone is welcome.
The church is located at 1351 Byrneville Road, just south of Highway 4.
Take A Hayride With Santa Today

It’s the next best thing to a sleigh ride — Santa Claus will be in Escambia County for hayrides this evening.
Escambia County Neighborhoods and Community Services Bureau announces the sixth Annual Santa Hayride. This year’s event will be held on this evening at the Escambia County Equestrian Center, 7750 Mobile Highway. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free. There will be nominal charges for concessions.
This winter wonderland will be fun for children of all ages. You can ride and sing on the hayride, enjoy seasonal, fun activities, such as inflatable “moon walks,” make holiday decorations, take a pony ride, and have a chance to give Santa your wish list all at no charge. Be sure to bring your own camera for photos with Santa. You can also climb a rock wall for $5 per climb and take a bungee jump for $5 per jump. The event provides a great opportunity to make holiday memories that will last a lifetime. So stop by and enjoy the festive music, cheer and holiday refreshments.
The event also serves as an official drop-off site for the Toys for Tots program sponsored by the Marine Corps League Detachment 066. Patrons are also encouraged to drop off broken or old cellular telephones, which will be exchanged for free minutes for overseas troops to call home for the holidays.
