Allie B. Strength, 86, of Atmore, AL died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Mobile, AL.

She was a seamstress, retired from Vanity Fair Mills, Born in Okaloosa County, FL on June 18, 1923 to the late Dewey and Addie Fuqua King. She attended Brooks Memorial Baptist Church, loved her family, fishing and flowers.

She is preceded in death by two brother, Ivan King and Dewey King, Jr.; two sisters, Madelyn Minchew and Jenelle Moye.

Survivors are: her husband, Ollie J. Strength; daughter, Jean Strenght, both of Atmore, AL; one brother, Shelby King of Flomaton, AL; one sister, Joyce Braswell and a special sister-in-law, Ethel Strength, both of Atmore, AL; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, July 10, 2009 at 2PM from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Jed Dukes, Russell Braswell, Don Moye, Tim Ball, Rodney Ball and Tim Strength.

Family will receive friends, Thursday evening, July 9, 2009 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6PM to 8PM.

Dawn Good Yoder

Dawn Good Yoder, age 50, of Atmore, Ala., died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Mobile. She was a Registered Nurse but was primarily a homemaker since her children were born. Her servant’s heart was inspired by her love for Christ. She was born in Harrisonburg, Va., and was a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship.Mrs. Yoder is survived by her husband, Dr. Jon E. Yoder of Atmore; her father and mother, Ethan J. and Shirley B. Good of Macon, Miss.; two sons, Robert K. Yoder and Stephen J. Yoder of Atmore; two daughters, Amber F. Yoder and Kristin B. Yoder of Atmore; four sisters, Phyllis Miller and husband, Dan, of McComb, Miss., Ardis Diller and husband, Lester, of Belleville, Pa., Rosa Lee Kanagy and husband, Tim, of Macon and Carol L. Roth and husband, Mark, of Jackson, Miss., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 2 p.m., from First Assembly of God Church in Atmore with Pastor Carl Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Freemanville Community Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Hubbard, Tim Kanagy, Mark Roth, Dan Miller, David Yoder and Paul Yoder.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 10, 2009, at Mennonite Christian Fellowship Church from 4 to 9 p.m.

Ernest Dewitt Allen

Ernest Dewitt Allen, who served as the minister at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church for many years, died Sunday in Atmore. He was 82.

Allen, a native of Mobile and a resident of Atmore, was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cobb Allen; and a son, Schuyler Dewitt Allen, both of Atmore; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was 6 to 8 Tuesday night at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be at

3 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Gertrude Stephens Lloyd

Mrs. Gertrude Stephens Lloyd, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Century, FL.

Gertrude was a native of Swainsboro, GA, a resident of Century, FL for the past 25 years, and attended the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and Lizzie Stephens, her Husbands, John Mosley and Jerry David Loque, a Son, John Mosley and two Daughters, Ianthia Ploof and Jerry Kate Wimberly.

Survivors include: two Daughters, Doris Long of Flomaton, AL, and Joyce Letourneau of Vonore, TN; 24 Grandchildren; numerous Great-Grandchildren; and numerous Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dustin Stockstill officiating.
Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 4, 2009 between 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Long, Tony Ploof, David Ploof, Matt Wimberly, Joffrey Tullis, and Daniel Moore.

Honorary pallbearer will be Timothy Mosley.

Freeman C. Corbett

Mr. Freeman C. Corbett, 90, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009 in Atmore, AL.

Freeman was a native of Bradford, PA, a former resident of PA, and a resident of Atmore, AL for the past 2 months. He was a veteran of WWII, an ordained minister, an artist and attended the Church of the Living God. He was preceded in death by a Son, Richard Lee Corbett.

Survivors include: his Daughter, Beverly and A.J. Mathews of Atmore, AL; 2 Grandsons, Dana Mathews of Nashville, TN, and Scott and Denise Mathews of Winston Salem, NC; a Granddaughter, Sandra Mathews of Nashville, TN; 4 Great-Grandchildren, Brandy Michelle Mathews of Jackson, TN, A.J. Mathews of Nashville, TN, Daniel Leeks of Winston Salem, NC, and Christopher Scott Mathews of Winston Salem, NC; his special Grandkids of the home, “Lil Man” and “Baby Girl”; and a Friend, Edith Honda of Atmore, AL.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 6, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Harrison officiating and Petty Funeral Homes, LLC. directing.

Louise Green

Mrs. Louise Green, 80, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Century, FL.

Louise was a native of Bluff Springs, FL, a resident of Bratt, FL for most of her life, she loved to sew for her family and friends, and attended the Bratt First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her Son, Jerry Green, and four Brothers, Gerald Gilmore, Roy Gilmore, Glenn Gilmore, and William Gilmore.

Survivors include: three Sons, Larry and Pat Green of Pensacola, FL, Gary Green and Greg and Marty Green, both of Bratt, FL; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; a Brother, Johnny Gilmore of Brewton, AL; and a Sister, Martez Dortch of Bratt, FL.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Wieborg officiating.

Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

MSgt. Stephen M. Stabler

stabler-stephen.jpgMSgt. Stephen M. Stabler, USAF, age 39, passed away after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his mother Sharon Amelia Stabler and his Step-Brother Travis Fay.

Stephen was born in Mobile, AL and raised and educated in Walnut Hill, FL. He entered the United States Air Force after High School, serving for 20 years as an AMMO Troop.

He enjoyed NASCAR, music and spending time with his family and friends. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth ”Beth” A. Stabler, daughters; Catherine Amelia and Tristan Jade Stabler, Parents Judson and Ginger Stabler and his loving siblings Shannon, Ryan, Reigh, Sonia, Scott, Heather, Cory and his loving pet Sammy, as well as numerous family members.

Visitation was held Friday, June 26, 2009, with funeral services following Emerald Coast Funeral Home inFort Walton Beach, Florida. Burial followed at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.

Mr. Matthew Carl Frederickson, 81, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Matthew was a native of Molino, FL, a former resident of Phillipsville, AL, and a resident of Lawton, OK for the past 3 years. He was a WWII Veteran with 2 purple hearts during the Pacific Theatre and attended the Catholic Church.

Survivors include: six Sons, Carl Jr. Frederickson, Pete Frederickson, Dayrll Frederickson, Lockwood Frederickson, Phillip Frederickson, and Kenneth Frederickson; three Stepsons, Royce Lamb of Diamondhead, MS, Michael Lamb of Phillipsville, AL and James Lamb of Phillipsville, AL; three Daughters; a number of Grandchildren; a number of Great-Grandchildren; his Brother, Harry Frederickson; and Sister, Merna Loy.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 26, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.

Burial will follow at Hall’s Fork Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday, June 26, 2009 from 12:30 P.M. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Alvin Thomas Boutwell, Sr.

Mr. Alvin Thomas Boutwell, Sr., 71, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at a Pensacola hospital. 
Alvin was a native and lifelong resident of Flomaton, AL and a retired employee from Jefferson Smurfit Paper Mill after 39 years. He was an avid Alabama fan, hunter, fisherman and family man and attended the Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his Wife, Doris Boutwell of Flomaton, AL; his Son, Alvin Thomas Boutwell, Jr. of Flomaton, AL; four Daughters, Denise Darby of Irvington, AL, Diane Boutwell of Theodore, AL, Patsy and Frank Nelson of Irvington, AL, and Gabbe Boutwell of Flomaton, AL; 3 Grandchildren, Naomi Darby, Brandon Darby, and Frank Nelson; 1 Great-Grandchild, Brayden Darby; his Brother, William “Bill” and Marion Boutwell of Perdido, FL; and two Sisters, Rachel and Johnny Freeman of Smithdale, MS, and Doris and Leroy Peacock of Jay, FL.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Richburg officiating. 

Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.
