Jimmy C. Foley, age 68, of Cantonment, Florida died Sunday, January 17, 2010. He was a veteran of United States Army. Mr. Foley retired from Consolidated Freight and was a member of Cantonment Masonic Lodge. He was a life long member of Farm Hill Methodist Church. Jimmy was loved by everybody

He is preceded in death by his parents; G. P. and Bertha Foley and one sister Gwen Chappell and brother-in-law, Cliff Chappell.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years; Linda Foley, 2 sons; Jimmy (Kami) Foley, Scott (Vicki) Foley of Cantonment, 3 grandchildren; Katie (Jason), Brittney, Juston Foley of Cantonment, Jason Gayland, 1 sister; Sue (Doug) Patterson of Cantonment, 1 brother-in-law; Tommy and Shirley Oglesley of Cantonment, loving mother-in-law; Kathryn Thomas of Cantonment.

Funeral services will be held at Farm Hill Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:00 am with Rev. Fred Funcher officiating.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Serving, as pallbearers will be Monte Chappel, Jermey Busby, Chris Chappel, David Ogleeley, Randy Ogleeley and Jason Gaylord.

Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Gaylord, Doug Rittenbury, Tommy Brooks, Ray Smith, Buddy Plair and Russell Cain.

The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Joe Larry Sims

Mr. Joe Larry Sims, 68, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at a Pensacola, FL hospital.

Mr. Sims was a native of Century, FL and a resident of Huxford, AL for most of his life. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and attended the Huxford Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his Wife, Kathi Sims of Huxford, AL; two Sons, Timmy Sims and Craig Sims, both of Huxford, AL; two Daughters, Karen Metts of Robinsonville, AL and Pam Knowles of Flomaton, AL; 6 Grandchildren; two Brothers, Jimmy Sims of Spanish Fort, AL, and Johnny Smith of Atmore, AL; and two Sisters, Cheryl Sims of Robersdale, AL and Debbie Rowell of Atmore, AL.

Funeral services will he held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 between 5:30 and 7:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiat

John D. “Bugs” Brown

John D. “Bugs” Brown, age 72, of Buck Smith Road in Poplar Dell, FL, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010. Mr. Brown was born in McDavid, FL and lived much of his life there before living in Gulf Breeze, FL for 21 years before returning to Poplar Dell. He was a member of Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his best friend and most loving wife of 44 years, Dorothy Smith Brown, parents, Vernie Hampton and Nancy Ella Brown, and siblings, Flora Jean Thomley and Hampton Eugene “Sonny” Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by his children, Dottie Kay and David Radcliffe of Gulf Breeze, FL, and John Hampton and Paula Brown of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandchildren, Kristen Nicole Radcliffe, Holly Jean Brown, Nicholas Ryan Radcliffe, Brittany Frances Radcliffe, and Kara Riann Brown; siblings, Johnnie Mobidine Johnson of Christian Home, FL, Joe R. and Ann Brown of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jerry D. and Darlene Brown of Elsenor, AL, and Buster and Ruby Smith of Poplar Dell, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and too many friends to count.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church, 3131 N. Pine Barren Road, Walnut Hill, FL 32568-2502, with the Rev. John Fillingim officiating.

Visitation will he held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. until funeral time at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery with Petty Funeral Homes, LLC. directing.

Pallbearers are nephews, Joey Brown, Mark Brown, Aaron Smith. Darrin Smith, John Johnson, and grandson, Nicholas Radcliffe.

Burl Woods

Mr. Burl Woods, 66, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at a Mobile hospital.

Mr. Woods was a native of Uriah, AL and a resident of Atmore, AL for the past 46 years. He was the owner of Alabama Tank Inc. and attended the Judson Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his Wife of 44 years, Mona Woods of Atmore, Al; his Son, Kevin Burl and Julie Woods of Atmore, Al; his Daughter, Michelle Woods and Larry Smith of Pensacola, FL; five Grandchildren, Marianna Woods, Lily Woods, Alex Smith, William Smith and Erin Smith; one Brother, Raymond Woods of Semirah Springs, AL; three Sisters, Betty Fretwell of Semirah Springs, AL, Elizabeth Bryd of Bay Minette, AL and Mary Etheridge of Daphne, AL.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Dukes and the Rev. Henry Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow at Judson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Doris Louise Howell Hancock

Doris Louise Howell Hancock entered her eternal home Wednesday, January 13, 2010.  She was born in Century, Florida, on August 23, 1923.  She resided most of her life in Pensacola, Florida.   Doris was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she attended and was involved with the Young at Heart.

In her early working experiences, she worked in a car factory in Detroit, Michigan, and later at a shoe and shirt factory in Tullahoma, Tennessee.  In 1956, she moved back to Pensacola where she worked at Warrington Bank for 33 years as a bookkeeper and member service representative.

Proceeded in death, her parents, Guy and Phoebe Howell, a sister, Millie Long, two brothers, Farrell and Cordell Howell, a son-in-law, Allen Story and husband, Carl Hancock.  She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Story, brother, Gordon Howell,  sister-in-laws, Juanita Howell, Elouise Howell and Jean Howell, two grandchildren, Ralph Story (Debra), Dolores Taylor (Johnathan), five great grandchildren, Rodney, Kasey, Brandon, Micah, and Seth, one great great granddaughter, Hannah and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Health Center of Pensacola and Covenant Hospice for their loving care.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, 2010, at the Faith Chapel Funeral Home North at 9:30 a.m. up until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m.  Chaplin Ken Griffin will be officiating.  Interment will follow at the McCurdy Cemetery in Century, Florida.

Letcher Russell Black

Mr. Letcher Russell Black, age 69, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010. He was born in Fidelis, Fla. to Rev. L.L. and Myrtie Black. He was educated at T.R. Miller High School in Brewton, Ala. He played for the Baltimore Orioles Minor League, Bluefield Orioles of the Appalachian League and Leesburg Orioles. He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Monsanto for 32 years. He attended Rays Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Black.

Mr. Black is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Black of McDavid, Fla.; two sons, Eric and Kristl Black of Cantonment, Fla. and Russ Black of McDavid; his daughter, Amy Black and Wendall Cooley of Chumuckla, Fla. six grandchildren; a brother, Merle Black of Columbus, Miss., and a sister, Delores Trehern of Milton, Fla.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Brown, Rev. Brian Calhoun and Rev. James Black officiating. Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery with Petty Funeral Homes, LLC. directing.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 14, 2010 between 6 and 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Damon Morgan, Kevin Morgan, Donnie Bell, David Bell, Matt Jones and Ricky Caraway.

John Thomas “J.T.” Fowler

Mr. John Thomas “J.T.” Fowler, 79, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at a Santa Rosa County hospital.

Mr. Fowler was a native of Perdido, AL; a former resident of Century, FL and a resident of Flomaton, AL for the past 32 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, head deacon of the Gospel Light Temple Church for the past 20 years and member for the past 30 years. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ted Fowler and David Fowler, a son-in-law, Keith Bell and a brother, Sam Henry Fowler.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Christine Fowler of Flomaton, AL; three sons, Thomas and Tina Fowler of Flomaton, AL; Jeff Fowler of Atlanta, GA and Chris Fowler of Flomaton, AL; two daughters, Dianne and Curtis Carnley of Flomaton, AL and Deborah and Billy Elder of Flomaton, AL; a daughter-in-law, Debra Louise Fowler of Pensacola, FL; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Earline Leedy of Pensacola, FL; a sister-in-law, Carol Fowler of Summerdale, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Gospel Light Temple Church in Century, FL with Rev. Joe Welch and Rev. James Gay officiating.

Burial was held at Flomaton Cemetery with Petty Funeral Homes, LLC directing.

Visitation was held Monday, January 12, 2010.

Eddie Lee Ray

Ms. Eddie Lee Ray, 91, of Century, Fla. slept away to eternal rest on Jan. 2, 2010 at her residence.

Her mother, Roberta Barnwell; her father, Andy Carstaffney and a daughter, Shirley Beckley preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memories are one grandson, Kevin Foster of Century, Fla.; one granddaughter, Sheila Foster of Detroit, Mich.; niece, Barbara Ries of Century, Fla.; two sisters, Gladys Hicks and Dorothy Oliver, both of Century, Fla. and a god child, Mary Jay.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. , Jan. 9, 2010 at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church with the Rev. W.H. Carter officiating. Public viewing was held from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment was held in the Century Cemetery.

Emma Jean Myles

Mrs. Emma Jean Myles, 62, of Century, Fla. transitioned into eternal rest on Jan. 3, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church.

Her parents, Henry McCall and Lillie Mae King Corner; one son, Anthony Myles; one sister, Voncille Harris and one brother, Henry McCall preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memories are four daughters, Maretta (Linwood) Russell of Brooklyn, N.Y., Samello Myles of Century, Fla., Simone Myles of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Tyaisha Myles of Century, Fla.; two brothers, Aaron (Viteria) Madison and Nathaniel Madison of Century, Fla.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today, Jan. 9, 2010 at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church with the Rev. W.M. Carter officiating. Public viewing was held at the funeral home chapel from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Jan. 8, 2010. Retirement of her remains was in the Century Cemetery.

Oliver Marshall Hanks

Mr. Oliver Marshall Hanks, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Bratt, Fla.

Mr. Hanks was a native and lifelong resident of Bratt, a veteran of WWII, retired from the Frisco Railroad after 41 years, a member of the Century Masonic Lodge for 50 years, a farmer and attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Hanks.

Survivors include his son, Michael M. and Gayle Hanks Of Atmore, AL; three daughters, Frances Kay Hanks of Pensacola, FL, Betsy and Will Perkins of Oak Grove, FL, and Amy Nanette and Richard Caum Of Molino, FL; 6 Grandchildren, Tabitha Hanks (Mason) Frazier, Cory (Katrina) Hanks, Sara Perkins (Todd) Harris, Lawrence Dale Perkins, Marshall Keith Caum, and Lennie Nannette Caum; 3 Great-Grandchildren, Olivia Frazier, Anna Beth Frazier, and Naomi Hanks; a Brother, Homer Lee Hanks of Oak Grove, FL; and three Sisters, Claudia Kunert of San Diego, CA, Malveen Lang Of Pensacola, FL and Ruth Morgan Of Cantonment, FL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Chewning officiating.

Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010, between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mason Frazier, Cory Hanks, Todd Harris, Dale Perkins, Marshall Caum, and Edward Godwin. Honorary pallbearers will be his Men’s Sunday School Class.
