Robert Junior Martin

Mr. Robert Junior Martin, 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at a Mobile hospital.
Mr. Martin was a native of Troy, AL, a resident of Bratt, FL for most of his life and attended the Pinebarren Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW, a member of the U.S. Army National Guard for 33 years, and a retired employee of the Escambia County, FL Road Department after 23 years. He was a loving Husband, and Father, an avid gardener and fisherman, and enjoyed family gatherings and cooking.
Survivors Include: his Wife of 63 years, Ethel Martin of Bratt, FL; four Sons, Ronnie and Gayle Martin of Enon, FL, Harold and JoAnn Martin of Atmore, AL, Bobby and Nancy Martin of Davisville, FL, and
Greg and Linda Martin of Bratt, FL; 7 Grandchildren; numerous Great-Grandchildren; three Brothers, Shirley Martin of Stockton, AL, Carol Martin of Atmore, AL, and Doug Martin of Bratt, FL; and two Sisters, Lilly of Bayou LaBatre, LA, and Shelby Jean Hatcher of Atmore, AL.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Harper and the Rev. Don Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 17, 2009 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Ken Martin, Taylor Martin, Chris Smith, Brandon Martin, Michael Martin, and Chad Rosenbam.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lowrey, Joe Pennington, John Townsend, Buster Townsend, and Raymond Norris.

Mr. Leroy Williams, 72, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at a local hospital.
Mr. Williams was a native of Uriah, AL, a former resident of Little River, AL, and a resident of Atmore, AL for the past 2 years.
Survivors Include: two Brothers, Joe E. Williams of Atmore, AL, and Dan Williams of Uriah, AL; and a Sister, Alice L. Williams of Atmore, AL.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Mack Salter, II officiating.
Burial will follow at Little River Cemetery.

Grady L. Malone, Sr.

Mr. Grady L. Malone, Sr., 82, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Pensacola, FL.
Mr. Malone was a native of Bratt, FL, and a resident of Pensacola, FL, since 1953. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, a retired employee from Armstrong Cork Company, an avid hunter and fisherman and attended the Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his Daughter, Linda Jean Coate, a Brother, Gene Malone, and a Grandson, Kenneth Brian Malone.
Survivors Include: three Sons, Gary Steven Malone of Century, FL, Kenneth James Malone of McDavid, FL, and Grady Lee Malone, Jr. of Robertsdale, AL; a Stepdaughter, Joanie Stavinoha of TX; 8 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; four Brothers, Benny Malone of Cantonment, FL, L.B. “Lon” Malone of Poplar Dell, FL, John Henry Malone of McDavid, FL, and Jimmy Malone of McDavid, FL; and a Sister, Betty Jo Childress of Cantonment, FL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Salter officiating.
Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Joseph E. Stier

Joseph E. Stier, 69, of Cantonment, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009.
Joe was born in Rockford, Illinois and raised in Glidden, Wisconsin. He had been a resident of Escambia County since leaving the U. S. Navy in 1963. He retired from Edward M. Chadbourne Construction Company in 2001. He had been a devoted member of Pinehaven Baptist Church. He was a beloved husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Stier; sons, Neil Stier and wife, Pamela, Jon Stier and wife, Lynda, and Jeff; four grandchildren, Angelica, Jonathon, Jeremy and Isabella, all of Cantonment. The family is grateful for the time they have shared on earth with him and know he will wait for his family in heaven when they are called upon to join him.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Pensacola Me morial Gardens Funeral Home until services begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Floyd Watson

Floyd Watson, a native of Canoe, a former resident of Pensacola and a resident of Atmore, died Tuesday at an area nursing facility. He was 73.
He was a member of the New St. Paul Baptist Church in Walnut Hill, Fla.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Watson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Floyd Dennis of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two daughters, Tracey Thames of Atmore and Katenia Peacock of Walnut Hill; four sisters, Maucle Thomas of Atmore, Annice Watson of Detroit, Faye Richardson of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Jackqueline Watson of Hartford, Conn.; one brother, Edd Watson of Mobile; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were 1 p.m. Saturday at New St. Paul Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.
Edith Cruit Mays

Edith Cruit Mays, a lifelong resident of Atmore, died Wednesday in Mobile. She was 101.
Mays retired as a teacher with the Escambia County School System. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Atmore.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Mays of Atmore and James Mays of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, December 11t from 6 to 8 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Atmore. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Johnnie Mae Bowman

Johnnie Mae Bowman, who had been a sales assistant at Walmart, died Saturday, December 5 at medical facility in Jay, Fla., after a brief illness. She was 73.
Mrs. Bowman, a native of Jay, was a resident of Flomaton and a former resident of Michigan.
Survivors include one son, Carl R. Bowman Jr. of South Lyon, Mich.; one brother, J.B. Jackson of Century, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Tuesday at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton, where the service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton.
Michael L. ‘Mike’ Caro

Michael L. ‘Mike’ Caro of Molino, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009.
Mike was born and raised in Myrtle Grove and a life long resident of Escambia County. A 1968 graduate of Escambia High School, he went on to work at G. C. Murphy, the Naval Aviation Depot and Rework Facility, and was employed as a Maintenance Technician with Sacred Heart Hospital for the past eight years.
A man of integrity, Mike greeted everyone with a friendly smile, and a firm handshake, loving hug, or a reassuring pat on the back. He maintained a servant’s heart throughout his life serving his Lord through faithful service and a prayerful heart. Mike served on the leadership boards and as a Deacon at Cottage Hill Assembly, Brentwood Assembly of God and Kingsfield Worship Center.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Willard L. ‘Buddy’ Caro; his mother, Mary Louise Caro; and mother-in-law, Thelma Louise McDonald.
Mike is survived by his wife, Wanda G. Caro; son, M. Bryan Caro (Shone); brother, Mark Caro (Betty); uncle, Loam Brown (Naomi); uncle, Marion Jones; granddaughters, Kathryn and Courtney Caro; grandson, Bryson Caro; and beloved family friend, Vernon Cole.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at First Assembly of God, 4301 Bayou Boulevard, Pensacola.
Celebration of Life Services will be Thursday, December 10, at 1:00 PM at First Assembly of God, with Interment immediately following at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Crisswell, Robert Elliott, Steve Lockman, Everett Lockman, Terry Miller, and Ashley Stukey. Honorary Pallbearers include James Coberly, Joel Coberly, Jerry Lowe, John Raley, Chris White, Carl Whitson, Jon Jones, and the Facilities Maintenance Division of Sacred Heart Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5401 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32504.

Sammuel “Sammy” Nichols

Mr. Sammuel “Sammy” Nichols, 56, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 in Flomaton, AL.
Sammy was a native of Bluff Springs, FL, a resident of Tri-City for most of his life, and a resident of Flomaton, AL for the past 9 years. He worked on oil rigs, was an avid horseman, a devoted father, hunter, member of the Santa Rosa Creek Indian Tribe and attended the Elim Baptist Church.
Survivors Include: his former Wife and Best Friend, Anita Nichols of Flomaton, AL; a Son, William Samuel Nichols of Flomaton, AL; a Brother, Dennis Nichols of Pensacola, FL; and three Sisters, Mickey Roley of Bratt, FL, Lisa Lee of Flomaton, AL, and Susie Nichols of Cantonment, FL.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. John Fillingim officiating.
Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Lillie Gaynell Killam

Lillie Gaynell Killam, a resident of Century, Fla., since 1950, died Saturday at a hospital in Jay, Fla. She was 84.
Miss Killam was a native of Escambia County, Fla. and a former resident of Pensacola.
She was a member of Byrneville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include several cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral at Byrneville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Byrneville, Fla. Flomaton Brown Service Funeral Home in Flomaton is handling arrangements.
