Bruce E. Lowery

Mr. Bruce E. Lowery, age 47, of Bratt, FL passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola.

Bruce was born in Atmore and was a native of Bratt. He was employed with the city of Atmore as a Code Enforcement Officer. Bruce was a 1987 graduate of Auburn University. He was also a 1981 graduate of Ernest Ward High School where he played on the 1979 State Championship football team. He was a member of Saint Luke Methodist Church, Pensacola, FL, lifetime member of the Bream Fisherman Association in Pensacola, FL and a long-serving member of the Northeast Pensacola youth baseball association board of directors.

Survivors include his wife Julie Van Pelt Lowery, two sons Bradley Lowery and Michael Lowery, a daughter Jessica Lowery, parents Charles A. and Reita Lowery, two sisters Sandra (Sammy) Day and Robin (Todd) Parker, one brother Alan (Becky) Lowery. Nieces and nephews include Kelly (Jason) Gurganus, Natalie Day, Jake Lowery, Cody Parker, Austin Lowery, and Dustin Parker and great nephew and niece Zane and Ava Gurganus and brother at heart Mike Digmon.

Visitation will be Monday, October 4, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore.

He will lie in state at the First United Methodist Church located in Atmore, on Pensacola Avenue on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m.

Pallbearers are the nephews Jake Lowery, Austin Lowery, Cody Parker, Dustin Parker, Jason Gurganus and Nicholas Drew.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. Greg Robbins, Mr. Barney Lowery, Mr. Marion Cooper, Dr. Rick Ledkins, Dr. Bill Hixson, Mr. Bill Smith, Mr. Horace Ward, Mr. Byron Vaughn, Mr. Todd Wiggins, Mr. John Johnson, Mayor Howard Shell, Ms. Becca Smith, Ms. Nina Downing, Ms. Celia Lambert, Ms. Mary Carter, Mr. Chris Black, Mr. Milford Lassiter, Mr. Chris Pruitt, Ms. Adel Skipper, Mr. Billy Smith Jr. and Mr. Malford Gainey.

Earby C. Driver, Sr. age 86 of Molino, FL joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 1, 2010.

Mr. Driver is preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina and his son, David.

He is survived by his children, Laraine (Roy) Wilson, Brownstown, MI, Robert (Vicki), Molino, Earby Jr. (Linda), Milton, Phillip, Molino, Kathryne (Tommy) Carpenter, Pensacola and Deborah (Jim) Ballard, Milton, Doug (Robin), Molino; brother, Robert Driver, Cantonment; sister, Marie Whitehead, Cottage Hill; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2010 at Highland Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Calhoun officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Patti R. Barnes

Patti R. Barnes, 49, of Destin, FL passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010.

Patti was born on October 5, 1960 in Pensacola, FL. She was a 1978 graduate of J. M. Tate High School. Patti earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Troy State University. She was an accomplished business woman in retail management, and enjoyed meeting and assisting customers from many different places during her career.

Patti found great joy in the love she expressed to her family. She will always be remembered for her continued dedication and never ending compassion for each member of her family. Her two greatest loves were spending free time on the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast and taking photographs of her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Patti never missed an opportunity to spend time with her nieces and nephews as she was more that an aunt, but a mom and attended every extracurricular activity possible.

Her parents, Roswell and Herberta (Bert) Barnes preceded Patti in death.

She is survived by her sisters, Debra Matthews (Chris) of Marianna, FL, Nell McElhaney (John) of Cantonment, FL; brother, Steve Barnes of Destin, FL; nieces and nephews, Shane, Deena, Tara, Melissa and Melanie; great nieces and great nephews, Madison, Kaylee, Brantley, Carson, Mason, and Ava Claire. She will be missed by her special puppy companions Punkin and Bitsy.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Bayview Memorial Park, with Reverends C. A. Flowers, Sr. and C. Aubrey Flowers, Jr. officiating.

Bama Elizabeth Lambeth

Bama Elizabeth Lambeth, age 87 of Crestview, FL, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Parthenon Healthcare in Crestview, FL. She was born Bama Elizabeth Goodson in Atmore, Alabama on July 12, 1923.

Although residing in Atmore and most recently in Crestview, she spent most of her life in Pensacola as a homemaker for husband, Ruben Lambeth who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Julian and Ray Lambeth; one daughter and son-in-law, Genell and Chuck Evans; seven grandchildren, Tammie, Frankie, Shawn, Charles and Shannon Evans, Tisa Hopkins and Katrina Hammac. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Hopkins Kemp (Quentin), eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m.

John Edward McShea, Jr.

Mr. John Edward McShea, Jr., age 41, of Flomaton, AL, passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at a local hospital.

Mr. McShea was born in Mobile, AL but spent his life in Flomaton, where he worked for Safety Management Systems as a Safety Technician.

Survivors include his mother, Martha Sue Smith (Kevin) Augustus of Century; daughter, Darian McShea of Gulf Breeze; son, Brent McShea of Jay; brother
Gerard McShea of Jay; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Teg Upton officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove
Methodist Church Cemetery in Leroy, AL with graveside services at 1 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, September 28, at the Flomaton Funeral Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Danny Jennings, David Jennings, Tyler Jennings, Nicholas Smith and Nicholas McShea, III.

Frank Joseph Redkey

Mr. Frank Joseph Redkey, 57, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010, at a Pensacola hospital.

Mr. Redkey was a native of Harvey, LA, a resident of Century for the past 43 years and attended the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church. Ivey Morris and Rosa Morris brought a lot of joy to the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Redkey.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Glenda Redkey of Century; his son, Frankie Redkey of Brewton; two daughters, Nancy Adams Redkey (Thomas) of Century and Lisa Morris Redkey (Eric) of Pensacola; and five grandchildren, Ivey Morris, Rosa Morris, Cody Adams, Austin Adams and Kendall Redkey.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 1, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ronald Broadhead and the Rev. Matt Brittingham officiating.

Burial will follow at Beulah Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010, between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. at the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church.

J.B. Johnson, Sr.

Mr. J.B. Johnson, Sr., 79, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at a Pensacola hospital.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Barnett Crossroads, Ala. and a resident of Century for most of his life. He was U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of the Korean War, a member of the DAV, a retired employee from Monsanto after 35 years, a pastor of Bethel Temple for eight years and a member of the Chumuckla Pentacostal Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Jessie Johnson; a stepfather, Coy Trawick; and a grandson, Ollie Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Johnson of Century; five sons, Lewis and Wanda Johnson of Milton, Joe Johnson, Ollie and Donna Johnson, and J.B. and Trudie Johnson, Jr., all of Century, and John Johnson of Walnut Hill; her daughter, Lydia and Blake Bowen of Atmore; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Jean Dubison of Gulf Shores, and Nell Howey of Topeka, KS; and three special people in his life, Charles Lowery of Milton, Linda Presley of Byrneville, and Jeanette Nichols of Century.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ira Decker and the Rev. Jimmy Mullins officiating.

Burial will follow at Pollard Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 27, 2010, between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ollie Johnson, J.B. Johnson, Jr., Lewis Johnson, John Johnson, Andy Miles, and Jerry Green

Robert “Brad” Donald Bradley, Sr.

Robert “Brad” Donald Bradley, Sr., 75, of Pensacola passed away on September 18, 2010. Brad was born on 18th of December 1934.

He was known by the name of Bobby while growing up in the small town of Lebanon in the “show me state” of Missouri. He worked as a farm hand after finishing high school. He decided to get ahead he would have move away there and joined the United States Navy on the 28th of May 1952 During his 3 year enlistment he rose to new heights during military life. He completed Naval Hospital Corpsman School on the 26th of February 1953 . He reenlisted on the 23rd of September 1955. During this enlistment he was subject to Operation Redwing which required for his ship and shipmates to line up at different intervals and face the fallout of a nuclear blast. He was discharged in Pensacola, FL on the 1st of December 1959 under honorable conditions.

He then moved to a hometown favorite of Macon, MO. While living there he missed the excitement of Pensacola and dreamed of moving back there. He met his soon to be wife, Effie Joyce Waibel and they shared the same dream and made it happen during the cold, cold winter of 1962. Which they were soon wed and blessed with a son, Robert Donald Bradley Jr. on the 13th of January 1963. The next year brought another bundle of joy in a second child, Bruce Edward Bradley born on 31st of May 1964.

During the following years, Brad opened and was partners in several Pawnbroker shops around Pensacola. The last was the longest and was named the Big Easy Jewelry and Pawn. This was a 20 year venture that took him to the end of his thrilling ride. Everyone who knew of him, knows he loved helping his customers and made him one of the very best at it.

Survivors include: his son, Bruce; sister, Shirley; and brother, Bennie; special companion and friend, Margrett Boyett, and numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Tommy and Kym Lowery, Pat Garcia, Bea Steel, Jay Turner, Willie and Betty Hudson, Cotton and Alice Basham, Brett and Jackie Hernandez.

Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Cantonment.

Edward Richard “Buddy” McConnell, Jr., 48, of Molino died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 23, at the National Cremation & Burial Society in Milton until services begin at 11 a.m.

lla Ora (Ellie) Wiggins

lla Ora (Ellie) Wiggins, age 84, passed away on Monday September 13, 2010. Ellie spent her life as a devoted daughter, loving wife, mother of two strong men and also enjoyed the blessing of her two grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ray Wiggins, her infant son, Ronnie, her parents Herman and Maggie Lomax Vickery, and her daughter-in-law, Mickey Wiggins. Also preceding her in death were her siblings Bernard, Andrew & Orval Vickery & Murvel Helton.

Miss Ellie was the owner of The Village Shop in Cantonment for over 20 years and delighted in her role in helping many women, young and old, find the “perfect” outfit. She was a true Southern lady with an amazing flair for fashion. The two most valued parts of Ellie’s life were her faith in God and the love of family.

Ellie is survived by two sons, Ricky Wiggins and wife, Becky and Lamar Wiggins; her two grandchildren, Curtis Wiggins and wife, Abby; and Carla Gilmore and husband, Jacob. Ellie is also survived by her loving sister, Eltra Mae “Sid” Etheridge, who helped in raising Ellie after the death of their mother.

All her friends and family are invited to celebrate her life on Thursday September 16, 2010. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
