Beverly Burgess Owens

Beverly Burgess Owens, 28, of Brewton passed away at home on Saturday, November 13th from and extended illness. She graduated in 2000 from T.R. Miller High School, attended Auburn University and graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in advertising. She was a member of Century United Methodist Church and was employed by Bank Trust of Brewton.
Burgess is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Lambert (Bo) Owens II and a brother, Jennings Lambert (Tripp) Owens III of Brewton. She is also survived by her grandmothers, Mrs. Jennings Lambert Owens of Brewton and Mrs. Julian Kohl Ptomey of Flomaton, aunts and uncles, Mrs. Gail Liles and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Saloom of Brewton, Mr. Julian Ptomey of Livingston, Miss Karla Ptomey of Flomaton and Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Owens of Laurel, MS and cousins, Traci Hughes of Brewton, Mary Margaret Stephenson of Birmingham, Steven Godwin of Jay, FL, Teresa Pugh of Pensacola, FL and Alexa and Avery Owens of Laurel, MS.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Mr. Jennings Lambert Owens of Brewton and Mr. Julian Kohl Ptomey of Flomaton and uncle, Dr. Robert Russell Smith of Brewton.
Visitation was held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 4:30 at Century United Methodist Church with memorial service following at 6:00. Charitable Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
Frances Arlene Holt

Mrs. Frances Arlene Holt, age 72, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 in a Pensacola hospital.
Mrs. Holt was born in Atmore, and had lived in the Flomaton area since 1954. She was a member of the Flomaton High School graduating class of 1956, and served as a substitute teacher in the Flomaton school system. She was a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church. Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by a daughter, DeLisa Holt.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Douglas Ray Holt of Flomaton; a son, Mike (Lisa) Holt of Flomaton; brother, Edward (Joyce) Brown of Atmore; one grandchild, Lauren Holt of Flomaton; and numerous nephews, nieces and other family and friends.
Funeral Services were scheduled for Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 2 p.m. graveside at Little Escambia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Doug Hogg Officiating.
Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or to Cancer Research.

Alice Joyce Rolin, 76 of Atmore died Saturday November 13, 2010 in Pensacola. She was retired from Winn Dixie as a cashier, born in Mobile on May 17, 1934, to the late Olivette and Leona Grissett Taylor.
She was a member of the Red Hat Club of Atmore.
She is preceded in death by a stepson Randy Rolin and a brother Buddy Taylor.
Survivors are her husband, Wilbert Rolin; one son Michael Wayne Blackburn and wife Kathy of Atmore; three daughters, Paula Faye Hall and husband Terry, Linda McCall and husband Thomas of Atmore, Patricia Jo Burr and husband Allen of Frisco City; two stepdaughters, JoAnn Hiebert and Patricia Ann Rolin both of Atmore; three brothers, Sonny Taylor of Ill., Tommy Ray Taylor of Atmore, Lavon Taylor; two sisters, Euince Morgan of Brewton, Elizabeth Beasley of Milton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday November 15, 2010, at 1 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earl Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Derrick King, Lance Hodges, David Respress, Leroy Steele Scottie Steele, Jeffrey McCall, and Camron McCall.
Family will receive friends, Sunday evening November 14, 2010, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m..

Barbara Ann Rolin Kimmons, 57,of Walnut Hill died Friday November 12, 2010, in Pensacola. She was a Homemaker, born in Atmore on April 22, 1953 to the late Judge and Irene Tatum Rolin.
She is preceded in death by one brother, Glen Rolin and one sister, Mary Ruth Rolin.
Survivors are her husband, Ramond Kimmons of Walnut Hill; two brothers, Issac Rolin and wife Edna Mae of Atmore, and Jerry Rolin and wife, Nadine of Brewton; three sisters, Lorene Rolin, Alice Rolin, and Linda Rolin all of Atmore; and numerous, nephews, neces and friends.
Graveside service will be Monday, November 15, 2010. at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 14, 2010, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmoree from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

James R. Morris, 68, of Molino went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 7, 2010.
He was born December 6, 1941, in Jay to Louie Morris and Leona Boyette Morris. He loved his wife and family and was a man of his word. He loved fishing, hunting, raising tropical fish and spending time with his family.
Mr. Morris is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Donna Fields Morris; daughters, Laura Lee Morris Davidson, Jacqueline Victoria Morris Duncan, Angela Janine Morris Harley, and Melissa Wynn Morris Jennings; grandchildren, Tanner Lee Davidson, Anthony Cain, Cassie Anne Jennings Wallace, Gavin Tate Jennings, Emily Rose Linenbrink and Ashley Brianna Harley.
James R. Morris will be laid to rest on Friday, November 12, 2010, at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Rev. James Baker as celebrant.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 p.m. for visitation with funeral services following.

Edna Merle Floyd, 66 of Jay, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 4, 2010. She was a member of Jay Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, J.B. Lewis and Merline Strength; grandson, Joshua R. McNac; brothers, Willie Joe Lewis, Ray Lewis; and nephews; Ken Lewis and Ricky Still.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Curt Floyd; 3 daughters; Terri (John) Hallman, Cindy (Jon) Smith, Kristy (Gary) McMillan; 3 grandchildren, Joslyn Trahan, Jessica McNac, Zachary McMillan; 2 great grandchildren; Joshua Trahan, Harmony Trahan; 2 sisters; Mary Haigler and Faye (Carl) Still.

Mr. James C. Darby, 91, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010, in McDavid.
Mr. Darby was a native of Uriah, AL, and a resident of McDavid since 1947. He was a veteran and POW of WWII and attended the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray Darby, Sr.; a granddaughter, Tracey Simmons; his parents, Jeff and Ada Darby; a sister, Verna Mae Simmons, and a brother, Dovard Darby.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lois Darby of McDavid; a son, James R. and Nancy Darby, Sr. of McDavid; a daughter, Edna Darby of McDavid; six grandchildren, Jamie and Janine Darby of Lebonon, IL, Kevin and Pam Darby of Herndon, VA, Donald Darby, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, Dana and Doodle Langhorne of McDavid, Deneen and Mike Brazel of Pensacola and Darla and Doug Coburn of Byrneville; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Emma Lee Newton and Elsie Word, both of McDavid.

Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Armstrong, 79, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at a Santa Rosa County hospital.
Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Lockhart, AL, a resident of Byrneville, FL, since 1949, a member of Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church and was very devoted to her family.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Herman Armstrong of Byrneville; a son, Lawrence William “Dick” and Gail Armstrong of Mexia, AL; a daughter, Betty Ann and Louis Tharp of Byrneville; two grandchildren, Brandon Armstrong of Monroeville, AL and Kristi Johnson of Mexia, AL; and her dog Rowdy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Shelton Kindig and the Rev. Ronald Broadhead officiating. Burial will follow at Byrneville Cemetery.

Coy E. Carter, Jr.

Coy E. Carter, Jr. age 62, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010. Mr. Carter was born in Walton County, Florida, on March 9, 1948. He retired from Solutia after nearly 43 years of employment. Mr. Carter was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his son, Coy E. ”Squirrel” Carter, III and his wife Beth; two granddaughters, Allie and Lacie Carter; and his mother, Grace Carter.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1 with Rev. Bill Hodge officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Doug Tipton, Larry Dye, Oscar McNeil and Gene Barnett.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 1 from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 7:00 p.m.

Jimmy Luther Bell, 72, of Atmore died Friday October 29, 2010, in Atmore. He owned and operated Bell Ford Automotive in Atmore for 16 yeras. He was born at Bell Fork, AL on July 14, 1938, to the late Luther Clark and Clemmie Shanks Bell. He was an avid Nascar fan as well as a Auburn fan.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice H. Bell of Atmore; two daughters, Connie Bell Miller and husband, Andy of Denton, TX, and LaJuana Bell Bryars and husband Bo of Stockton, AL; three grandchildren, Zack Thomas, Camille Dortch and Alaina Miller; and one great-grandchild, Adaline Dortch.
Services will be Monday November 1, 2010, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glenn Bryars officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
