Mildred G. Judah

Mildred G. Judah, age 80, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010. Mildred retired from C and P Bank with 23 years of service.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Aaron “Lou” Judah and by her two sisters.

Mildred is survived by her son, Billie A. Judah and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Patricia F. Stephens and her husband, Richard; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Dollie Mims and her husband, Leonard.

The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Thursday, December 16 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Cemetery.

To honor Mildred’s memory, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA.

Louise Elizabeth Cooke

Louise Elizabeth Cooke, 89 of Atmore, died Sunday December 5, 2010, in Atmore. She was a retired registered nurse, born in Bay Minette, on June 22, 1921, to the late Mark Aaron and Minnie Blackmon Presnall.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Cooke; two brothers, James Aaron and Buford Aaron; two sisters, Bernice Lundberg and Lucille Currie.

She is survived by one son, Richard Cooke and wife, Carole of Baton Rouge, La.; four daughters, Sherry Antram of Tenn., Debra Harrison and husband, Ronnie of Semmes, Ala., Susan Brown of Atmore, Cynthia Formby and husband, James of Walnut Hill; 11 grandchildren, Angie, Kimberly, Meredith, Nicole, Richard, Clint, Shelley, Brandon, Blair, Amanda and Chris; and several great-grandchildren. A special thank you to her caregiver, Carmen McDonald.

Services will be Thursday December 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Brown, Richard Harrison, Chad Taylor, Brandon Phillips, Ronnie Harrison, and Nicholas Driver.

Robert Marshall Lambeth

Mr. Robert Marshall Lambeth, age 85, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at Century Care Center.

Mr. Lambeth was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, Alabama. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Merchant Marines, and retired from St. Regis Paper Company. He was a member of Flomaton First Baptist Church and had served as a deacon for 55 years. Mr. Lambeth was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Bessie Lambeth; four brothers, J.T. Lambeth, W.T. Lambeth, Paul Lambeth, A.D. Lambeth; three sisters, Mabel Hill, Gladys Kirkland, and Betty Jean Coleman; and a son, Robert Scott Lambeth.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Jones Lambeth of Flomaton; one son, Stephen C. (Norma) Lambeth of Milton; one daughter, M. Kathy (Jim) McCutchin of Flomaton; one sister, Ollie Kelly of Century; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Flomaton First Baptist Church with Rev. Dustin Stockstill and Dr. Jerry Keese officiating. Interment will follow in Flomaton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Flomaton First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers: Michael McCutchin, Chad Blankinchip, Bobby Florie, Dan Godwin, Dewey Bondurant, Jr., Dale Findley.

Jack Myrell Bragg, 77, Jay, FL, died Thursday, December 02, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center Clarksville, TN. The funeral will be held at 1 PM Tuesday at Jay Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Doster, Rev. Virginia Beckham, and Brother-In-Law Sonny Ward officiating. Burial will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors and Full Masonic Rites. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday at Jay Funeral Home and from 12 PM until the hour of service Tuesday at Jay Funeral Home.

Jack was born on October 10, 1933 in Elba, Alabama to the late Coston Deroe Bragg and Argie Ruth Shiver.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Donnie Ruth Bragg, and a brother, Gerald Bragg.

He was of the Baptist Faith and a Retired MSGT from the United States Air Force. He was a retired professor from The University of West Florida, a member and former treasurer with the Hadji Shrine, a member of the American Legion Post 121, and the Jay Masonic Lodge 176. He was an elected official for the Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Three Rivers Conservation Board in Santa Rosa County, Florida.

Survivors include wife, Donna Ward Bragg of Jay, FL; daughter, Cynthia Diane Baggett (Johnny) of Jay, FL; son, Scott Anthony Bragg of Pace, FL; sister, Angeline Andrews (Bob) of Jay, FL; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Bragg. He had five grandchildren: John David Baggett (Christy), Jessica Posey (Scot), Tyler Bragg, Michael Bragg, and Kathryn Baggett and five great-grandchildren: Taylor Baggett, Taegan Baggett, Jordan Posey, Ty Posey, and Jenna Posey and special dog, Molly.

U.S. Military will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hadji Shrine Transportation Fund.

Tommy L. Burkett, 72, of Atmore died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, in Pensacola.

He was retired from the City of Atmore, as a Mechanic, born in Walnut Hill, Fla. on December 5, 1937, to the late Comer and Lela Bruce Burkett. He retired from the City of Atmore in 1996 and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Ree Burkett; a son, Evans “Danny” Burkett, both of Atmore; six brothers, Ira Gene Burkett, James E. Burkett, Floyd E. Burkett, Wayne
Burkett, Johnny Ray Burkett and Michael Wade Burkett, all of Atmore; four sisters, Ruby Grace Sandspree and Frances Mae Godwin, both of Atmore, Claudia Mae Powell of Perdido and Shirley Ann Boatwright of Atmore; four grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Burkett of Walnut Hill, Fla., Nickolas Aston Mills, Ashleigh Ann Geck and Colby Duane Burkett, all of Atmore and two great grandchildren, Trenton Jax Brown and Emily Lynn Brown.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C.L. Langford officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Michael “Hunter” Fromm

December 2, 2010

Michael “Hunter” Fromm, age 11, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2010 after an accident. Hunter was born to Jay Forrest Fromm and Katherine Scott Fromm on July 18, 1999.

Among his favorite pastimes were baseball, chess, football, swimming, fishing, boating, basketball, going to the movies and video games. He loved to sing and was in the 2010 All County Chorus. He played the bass in the Ransom Orchestra. Hunter was an awesome singer.

Hunter loved to wear a spiked hairstyle and was unique, funny and always happy. Hunter loved Facebook and was a master texter. His love for his family was faithful and sincere. His smile was infectious, unforgettable, and his very presence lit up the room. He was curious and loved to tell jokes. His love was unconditional. No one can remember him ever saying a cross word to anyone. He was a gentle soul and brought joy to the world during his eleven years. Hunter loved spending time with his cousins.

In Hunter’s words on a recent writing assignment in his English class, Hunter wrote the following: “I am a lover of my dog, God, and my family.” Hunter was a gentle lamb.

Jesus said in John 10:27-29 ”I also give them eternal life and they shall not perish at all forever, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father who gave them to Me is mightier than all and no one can wrest them out of My Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Jay Forrest Fromm and Stacie Meredith Fromm, and his mother, Katherine Scott Fromm; siblings, Tristan Wyatt Fromm 13, Farrah Anniston Fromm 8, Ali Karsten Orlando 4; grandparents, James and Darlene Fromm and John and Athalia Scott (YiaYia); step grandmother, Denise Meredith and stepbrother, Cody Hunter. He is also survived by his paternal aunt and uncle, Jamie Fromm Mickel (Kim Mickel); maternal aunt, Laura Scott Haley and cousins, Morgan Mickel, Brayden Mickel, Christian Haley, Katie-Rose Haley, and numerous other relatives.

The family will receive friends at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church with Reverend Gordon Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tristan Fromm, Christian Haley, Cody Hunter, Kim Mickel, James Fromm, and John Scott and Randall McCrackin.

Cornelius Wilson, Sr.

December 2, 2010

Brother Cornelius Wilson, Sr. was born on September 5, 1936 to the late Mr. Porter and Lessie Wilson in Sardis, Alabama. He passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Cornelius, Sr. married Lula Mae Scott on October 6, 1957. During this union of 53 years, seven children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Wilson, Sr. and Lessie Bell Wilson; four brothers, Curtis, Dennis, George, Porter, Jr. and four sisters, Lena, Mary, Martha, and Christine Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 53 years, Lula Mae Wilson; three sons, Cornelius (Josephine) Wilson, Jr., Edward Wilson of Pensacola, FL, Johnny (LaSonya) Wilson of Molino, FL and four daughters Lucille ( James) Floyd, Christine (Christopher) Osborne, Felicia (Twain) Williams of Cantonment, FL, and Virginia (Mason) Brown of Selma, AL; one brother, three sisters, two sisters-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at New Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

Wilburn J. “Sponie” Macks

Wilburn J. “Sponie” Macks, 86, of Atmore, died Monday, November 29, 2010 in Atmore.

He was born in Conecuh County, AL on February 22, 1924, to the late Jim and Minnie Roland Macks. He was a WWII veteran and attended the First Assembly of God Church of Atmore. He was retired from St.Regis Paper Co. as an inspector.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Macks and two sisters, Mattie Lou Flowers and Ale Mae Bradford.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Martin and Sue Gephart, both of Atmore; three grandchildren, Chris Smith, Kellie Lane, and Stephanie Rosenbuam, eight great-grandchildren and a very best friend, Grover Barnes of Atmore.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 01, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Interment will be in Deer Range Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Greg Martin, Chris Smith, John Nettles, Leslie Barnes, Brandon Smith and Shawn Lassiter.

Mrs. Mary Estelle Reid passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Century Care Center.

Mrs. Reid was a native and lifelong resident of Byrneville, FL. She was a loving mother and homemaker, active in the community projects and attended the Bratt First Baptist
Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Hugh Reid. Survivors include her son, Charles Edward and Christine Reid of Byrneville, FL; two daughters, Martha Ann and Louis Smith of Point, LA and Sue and Philip Kelly of Byrneville, FL; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10:00A.M. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Wieborg officiating. Burial will follow at the Byrneville Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation was held Monday, November 29, 2010 between 6 p.m.. and 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Nell Biggs Presley, age 70, a native of Atmore and a resident of Seminole died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010.

Mr. and Mrs. Presley were on the original board of the A.R.C. of Baldwin County. Mrs. Presley is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Presley of Seminole, AL; sons Thomas Brian (Staci) Presley of Elberta, AL and Randy Allen Presley of Seminole, AL; daughter, Kim Ranee (Mathew) Lutter of Elsanor, AL; Brothers, Lloyd (Cece) Biggs of Atmore, AL and Ray Biggs (Dewayne) of Bay Minette, AL; Sisters, Dorthy Little of Bay Minette, AL and Ernestine Rasberry of Gasden, AL; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren
