Mrs. Margaret Elaine Resso, age 66, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in a Pensacola hospital.
Mrs. Resso was born in Flomaton and had returned to the Flomaton area a number of years ago, coming from Baton Rouge, LA. She was a homemaker and was a member of Flomaton First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, William (Deena) Martin, Jr. of Perrysville, IN; two daughters, Terri (Mark) Clark of Perrysville, IN, and Melanie (Andrew) Hillis of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Donald (Carolyn) Jordan of Flomaton, Clarence Jordan of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Charlotte (Charles) McDonald of Atmore; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Flomaton Funeral Home with Rev. Patricia Bruner, and Rev. Doug Hogg officiating. Interment will follow in Flomaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Flomaton Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Gary Davis, Kevin Jordan, Mark McDonald, Joe Brantley and Bill Harris.
Letha McGhee

Our Loving Mother, Letha McGhee, 77 of Atmore, AL passed away Monday, March 7, 2011. Mrs. McGhee was a homemaker most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe F. McGhee Sr.; son, Joe F. McGhee Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick (Carol) and Kenneth (Linda) and a special nephew, Eddie Wayne; eight daughters, Linda, Patricia, Sandra, Sybil, Veronica, Tonya (Dave), Rhonda (Jason) and Chassidy; three brothers, Thomas, Fields and Edward, all of Atmore. She was blessed with 30 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Atmore Apostolic Church, 5784 Hwy 31, Atmore, AL.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Ward and Brother Pylant will be officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wessel, Wade Steverson, Thomas McGhee, Nick McGhee, Kenny McGhee, Cameron Wessel, Christopher Knorr and Blaine Flynn. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Paula Janet Wood

Miss Paula Janet Wood, age 65, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Pensacola Developmental Center where she won the hearts of everyone. Janet was born to Paul Scott and Jayne Ellison Wood. She spent her youth with her parents at the Century Drive-in. She traveled to Hawaii and Ireland and spent her summers traveling with her aunt and uncle, Louzine and James Mosley. She was recognized with a five-year pin for serving as a volunteer at Century Memorial Hospital. Miss Wood attended Flomaton First Baptist Church during her young years and also attended Little Escambia Baptist Church and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Century.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jayne Wood.
She is survived by a sister, Pamela Febig of Gulf Breeze; aunt and uncle, Louzine and James Mosley of Century; aunt, Jerri Coulter of Rock Springs, GA; a niece, Lee Williams of Gulf Breeze; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Flomaton Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Keese officiating. Interment will follow in Flomaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Flomaton Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cox, Bill Cox, Thomas Cox, Shawn Fleming, Matt Febig. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff and resident family members of Pensacola Developmental Center.

Emma Lee Reynolds, 87, formerly of Walnut Hill and a resident of Blount County, AL, died Friday March 4, 2011, at Oneonta, AL, at the Golden Living Center She was born in Walnut Hill on November 20, 1923, to the late Dovie B. and Lillie Williams Phillips.
Mrs. Reynolds was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church in Alabama, where she taught children’s Sunday School, was a WMU leader and cooked for the weekly church meal. She was known for a green thumb for growing flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Thomas Reynolds; two brothers, Willard Phillips and Clarence Phillips; and one sister, Merlene D. Sowell.
She is survived by two sons: Larry Reynolds and wife, Frances of Jackson, MS, Marvin Reynolds and wife, Jeannie of Somerset, KY; three daughters, Pam Middlebrook and husband, James of Tuscaloosa, Marilyn Calvert and husband, Roger of Remlap, AL, Dr. Loretta Reynolds and husband, Dr. Eddie Broadhead of Berea, KY; two brothers, Lindy Phillips of Davisville and D.L. Phillips of North Carolina; two sisters, Jean Soloman of Davisville, and Ethel Wilcox of Loxley; 10 grandchildren, Jan, Blake, Donna Larry ,Jr. Debbie, Melissa, David, Emily, Matthew and Christen; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday March 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Loretta Reynolds officiating. Interment followed in McCullough Cemetery. Family received friends, Sunday March 6, 2011 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Bessie R. Couch, 81 of Robertsdale died Saturday March 5, 2011, at Robertsdale Health Care Center. She was a retired seamstrees from Vanity Fair Mills. She was born in Atmore on April 5, 1929. to the late Pearlie H. and Mary E. Jernigan Turberville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Carpenter; four brothers, John Ed Turberville, James Turberville, Vernon Turberville, and Paul Turberville; and one sister, Alice Vaughn.
She is survived by a daughter, Patsy Carpenter of Robertsdale; three brothers, William Turberville of Dublin, Ga., Clinton Turberville and Cecil Turberville both of Mobile; three sisters, Louise Gibson of Robertsdale, Margaret Lingerfelt of Pensacola, Helen Williams of Robertsdale; three grandchildren, Rachael Miller of Prattville, Candace Gray of Millbrook, Hillary Emmons of Jay five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday March 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. from The Springhill Primative Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Ellis and Bro. Bobby Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Wayne Dugger, Timothy Baggett, Gary Baggett, Michael Baggett, Justen Turberville and Gregory Turberville.

Pauline Renfroe Travis was born in Century, Florida on September 27, 1913 and passed away Friday, March 4, 2011.
Pauline was born to Floyd and Lizzie Renfroe. She married Fern Travis and together they raised nine children.
Pauline was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a member of Milestone Church of Christ, Cantonment, Florida.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Fern Travis, Sr.; stepson, Ralph Travis; grandsons, James Meeks and Leon Travis; brothers, Tommy and Claston Renfroe; and two sisters, Evelyn Keesler and Asylean Renfroe.
Pauline is survived by three sons, Buddy Boutwell of Pensacola; Fern Travis, Jr., (Edna) of Pensacola; Bobby Boutwell (Juanita) of San Diego, CA; five daughters, Mildred Sadler of Los Angeles, CA, Kathleen Meeks, Virginia Bergquist, Janie Shear and Ruth Graham, all of Pensacola; two sisters, Dolly Gideons and Lois Darby of McDavis, Florida. Pauline is also survived by 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home until services begin at 6:00 p.m.
A special thanks to her son, Buddy Boutwell who resided with her and took care of her for 13 years and to her granddaughter, Rene Boutwell who has cared for her for the past 14 months along with other family members.

Ryan Edward Flaherty, 17, of Cantonment died Sunday, February 27, 2011.
He was born on December 10, 1993 in San Diego, CA. Ryan was a student at West Florida Tech High School Multi-Media Academy. He was a member of the West Florida Tech Varsity Soccer Team and received the Christian Fellowship Athlete Award.
Ryan was the ultimate practical joker, but it was his smile that brightened your day. That smile and his love will always be in our hearts. Ryan’s ultimate gift was expressed in his decision to donate his organs so that others may have life. Those that were touched by his smile will forever feel his presence as their guardian angel. “Goodbye Flare Bear, you are gone but never forgotten.”
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Reginald and Anne Flaherty.
Survivors include his father, David (Angie) of Pensacola; mother, Michelle of Cantonment; sister, Samantha of Cantonment; grandparents, Bob and Pat Leblanc of Pensacola; uncles, Tharon (Della) and Paul; aunts, Melanie (Brent) Morgan and Linda Flaherty; as well as cousins, Katelyn, Taylor, Brenna, Megan and Chenoa.
Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Doug Halsema celebrant. Interment of his ashes will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Mr. Horace Anderson Smith, age 57, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 in a Pensacola hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Smith was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, Alabama. He did maintenance work for the Escambia County School Board for over 20 years, and was of the Christian faith. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Helen Sellers Smith; his parents, William & Pauline Smith; and a granddaughter, Angel Faith Bedsole.
He is survived by two daughters, Daphny G. (Jeffery) Thompson of Brewton, and Heather Pauline (Ryan) Bedsole of Brewton; his step-mother, Bonnie Smith of Brewton; five brothers, William Ray Smith of Brewton, Franklin Smith of Brewton, Billy Smith of Jay, Jerry Smith of Brewton, and Ronnie Smith of Brewton; two sisters, Vanessa Smith of Flomaton, and Brenda Hart of Brewton; four granddaughters, Makayla Thompson, Aaliyah Bedsole, Alonna Bedsole, and Addisyn Bedsole; two aunts, Faye Johnson of East Brewton, and Pearl Sims of East Brewton; friends, Conrad Nall of Huntsville and Lyman and Frances Peevy of Brewton; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

Herman L. Carnley, age 90, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011. He was born September 19, 1920 in Jay. Mr. Carnley was owner and operator of Ensley Curb Market and a member of Chumuckla Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by parents; Albert and Eula Carnley, his first wife; Annie Louise Carnley and his son; Ronnie Carnley.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Carnley, his children, Adon (Sharon) Carnley, Wayne Carnley, Faye (Fred) Johnson, Stanley (Susie) Carnley, Pete (Linda) Foster, David (Linda) Foster and Jessie (Ronnie) Gilbert; his brother, Max Ray Carnley; his sisters, Alberta Hopkins and Dorothy Tyree (Rufus); 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Ron Carnley and Rev. Ira Decker officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Elizabeth Barnett Van Pelt, 70, of Walnut Hill died Wednesday March 2, 2011, in Atmore. She was a retired teacher, born in Wallace, Ala., on August 27, 1940, to the late Gilbert and Hazel Grimes Barnett.
She is survived by her husband, George Van Pelt of Walnut Hill; two sons, George Thomas Van Pelt and wife, Michelle of Orange Beach, Stephen L. Van Pelt and wife, Christy of Walnut Hill; one brother, John Gilbert Barnett and wife, Una Ray of Birmingham; one sister, Diane Rose and husband, Rex of Atmore; five grandchildren, Michael Van Pelt, Caroline Van Pelt, Bradley Van Pelt, Bailey Van Pelt and Bentley Van Pelt; other relatives and many friends.
Services will be Friday March 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church in Atmore with Bro. Jim Reece officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
