Gabriel “Gabe” Kent Carter

Gabriel “Gabe” Kent Carter, 15, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011. He was born on April 13, 1995, in Pensacola. Gabe was a freshman at Tate High School. His life ambition was to become a computer programmer and design video games. Gabe was a weightlifter preparing to play football next fall at Tate High School.

He was a parishioner and former alter boy at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Cantonment. Gabriel was very caring and generous with his time and was loved by all who knew him. He spent a lot of time doing volunteer work at his church, and was very family centered. He and his brother Eryn were very close and inseparable.

Survivors include his parents; Charles and Carrie Carter, his brother; Eryn Carter, grandparents; Suzanne Carter, Brenda and Sherman Powell, his uncles; Wallace Arthur Carter, Jr. and Anna Mae Maano, Joshua and Jenna Powell, Monique “ Auntie Mimi” Huthinson, Alan and Vicki LaBerge, Gerard and Pamela LaBerge and numerous cousins.

A mass of celebration will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at St. Judes Thaddeus Catholic Church with Father George officiating.

Serving, as pallbearers will be Eryn Carter, Wallace Carter, Jr., Rodney Raani, Eric Schoppman, James Kelley and Josh Powell.

Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 21, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m. The rosary will be held at 5 p.m.

Charles Arnold, Sr.

Charles Arnold, Sr., 83 ,of Cantonment passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011.

Charlie was a member of Gonzalez Baptist Church. He was also a Master Mason and belonged to the Hadji Shrine. He was a lifetime resident of the Pensacola area and was a man who lived life to the fullest and loved God and family.

Survivors include his son, Chuck Arnold and wife Hilda; daughter, Sherry Key and husband Troy; grandchildren, Scotty & Jill Arnold, Walker & Emil Arnold, Hope & Dave Bonucchi, Samantha Key, Greg Key, and Guy Finney; several great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; brothers, M.J., Billy and Jimmy Arnold; sisters, Helen White, Mary Davis, and Sharon Steelreath; sister-in-law, Joan Arnold.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Gonzalez Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Chewning officiating.

Julia Jeanette Comalander

Mrs. Julia Jeanette Comalander, 47, of Cary Street in Flomaton, passed away Thursday evening March 17, 2011, at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Comalander was a native of Rome, Georgia, and had lived in Flomaton for more than 30 years. During her working years, she worked as a clerk at the Minute Stop and she was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Milam and a brother, Walter Daniel “Buck” Milam.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Vera & Adolph Riendeau of Robertsdale, Alabama; husband, Joseph H Blackburn of Flomaton; stepson, Joseph R. (Amanda) Blackburn of Flomaton; stepdaughter, Velina (Blake) Calloway of Byrneville, Florida; three brothers, Billy Milam, Ronnie Milam, and James Milam all of Summerville, Georgia; two sisters Diane (Jim) Badgero of Rome, Georgia; Freda Laycock of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Savannah, Luke and Sarah.

Visitation will be held Sunday March 20, 2011, from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service time at Flomaton Funeral Home Inc,.

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Jeanette Comalander are scheduled for Sunday evening March 20, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Keese officiating. Interment will follow in McCurdy Cemetery in Century, Florida, with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.

Mary Everett Orr

Mary Everett Orr, 94, of Pensacola, passed away, Thursday, March 17, 2011.

Mary was born October 16, 1916 in Malone, Florida to Charley Monroe Everett and Fannie Mae McRane Everett. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Cantonment. Mary was a homemaker who loved growing flowers in her garden. She would often share her flowers with her church family by decorating the church with them.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Leslie Orr.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Cunningham and husband Jacky; two grandsons, Greg (Sabrena) and Andy (Christina); and four grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Parker and Ethan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Brother Brian Calhoun officiating.

Pallbearers will be, Jerry Marbut, Tom Serviss, Charles Barton, Johnny McElhaney, Adrian Enfinger and Robert Kennedy. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the funeral home.

Constance Marie Ard

March 15, 2011

Constance Marie Ard, age 49, of Molino passed away Sunday, March 13, 2010. She was born on September 28, 1961 to Ellen and Ernest Settle. She was of the Catholic faith and was a very compassionate person and loved children. Constance enjoyed life.

Preceding her in death was her father; Ernest Settle and her brother; Spencer Settle.

Survivors include her mother; Ellen Settle, her son; Ruben Ard, three grandchildren; Cooper, Corbin and Caden Ard, two brothers; Charles (Denise) Settle and Joey (Jeanene) Settle and one sister; Vickie Settle and numerous nieces, nephews and family friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father George Thekkummattahil officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 15, 2010, from 5 until 7 p.m.

Edward Earl “Red” Wall

Edward Earl “Red” Wall, 68 of McCullough, AL, died Sunday March 13, 2011, at his residence. He worked in construction as an iron worker. He was born in Atmore on October 1, 1942, to the late William Allen and Nola Lassitter Wall. Mr. “Red” was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Wall of McCullough; one daughter, Donna Byrd and husband, David of Monroeville; two sons, Chris Emmons and wife Donna, Allen Wall and wife Stacey all of McCullough; three sisters, Totsie Dannelley, Georgia Driskell both of McCullough, Ruth Ann Tullis of Nokomis, FL; four brothers, Tom Wall, Coot Wall, Pender Wall all of McCullough, Raymond Wall of Nokomis, AL; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at noon from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jesse woods officiating. Interment will follow in McCullough Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Morrow, Joe Lalack, Terry Boyett, Craig Sullivan, Tom Frazier and Eddie Giddeons.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time.

James William “J.W.” Condrey

Mr. James William “J.W.” Condrey, 24, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2011, at a Pensacola hospital.

Mr. Condrey was a native of Atmore and a resident of Walnut Hill for most of his life. He attended the Dry Springs Community Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elvin and Lois Garrett.

Survivors include his wife, Flora Condrey of Atmore; his parents, Larry and Susan Condrey of Walnut Hill; a son, James Noah Condrey of Atmore; two stepsons, Justin Powell and Andrew Powell, both of Atmore; his grandparents, Earl and Juanita Gunn of Huxford; two sisters, Ashley Condrey of Walnut Hill, and Amanda Condrey of Bay Minette; two aunts, Janet Gunn of Atmore and June and Vernon Phillips of Walnut Hill; an uncle, Jeff and Susan Gunn of Atmore; two nieces, Haley Cooper and Alexis Condrey; and a nephew, Nicholas Condrey.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.T. Timothy officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Barren Cemetery.

Visitation was held Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

O’Neal Rutherford

Mr. O’Neal Rutherford, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011, in Atmore.

Mr. Rutherford was a native of Little Rock, AL and a resident of Atmore for most of his life. He retired from Bell Ford after 33 years, was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman and attended the Brook’s Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Oma Lee Rutherford of Atmore; his son, David Rutherford of Atmore; three grandchildren, Kyna Bonner, Denise Rutherford, and Ashley Rutherford, all of Atmore; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Rutherford of Brewton; and a sister, Emma Patterson of Ensley, AL.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddy Stallworth officiating.

Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 14, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Diane Jane Rothrock

March 13, 2011

On March 8, 2011 Diane Jane Rothrock joined her Lord & Savior in heaven after a valiant effort to overcome complications from a bout of flu.

Diane was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington where she was part of the 1952 graduating class of Fife High School. In 1961 she moved to Cantonment, FL along with her husband Coman Wendell Rothrock, Jr, and worked as the receptionist for Champion International Paper Company for over 20 years before retiring.

Diane had numerous hobbies including traveling, gardening, and decorating, but with her God given gift of hospitality, she especially found great delight and joy in cooking and entertaining in her home in order to be an encouragement and blessing to others.

As a believer and follower of Christ, she was faithfully involved in church activities, Bible studies, and personal spiritual growth throughout her lifetime.

In 2006 Diane moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, near her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and in 2009 she moved to Sun City West, Arizona, again to be near daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A few knew her as “Mom”, some knew her as “Grandma”, and some affectionately knew her as “GG” (Great Grandma). Countless others in her life called her a dear friend and finally, Christ her Savior, graciously called her home.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Cantonment, Fl.

Mary Louise Rigby Ward

Mary Louise Rigby Ward, 88, passed away on March 9, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Pace, FL on May 30, 1922 to Edward and Mary Elizabeth Chaffin. She graduated from the D.W. McMillan Nursing Program, Brewton, AL and earned her LPN nursing degree. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Elizabeth Chaffin; eight siblings; first husband, Joe M. Rigby, and second husband, Thomas J. Ward; daughters, Thelma Diane Rigby Brake and Eleanor Marie Ward, and son, Troy E. Ward.

Survivors include daughters, Gwendolyn (Leonard) Cook and Voncille (Joe) Silcox, and sons, Joe (Deborah) Rigby, Eugene (Connie) Rigby, Bill (Frances) Ward, Ronnie Ward; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, March 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eastern Gate Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15 at 10 a.m. with Jeffery Orr, minister of the Cantonment Church of Christ, officiating at Eastern Gate Funeral Home.
Internment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park, Pensacola.
