Annie Will Chittenden

Mrs. Annie Will Chittenden, age 87, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Chittenden was born in Pollard, AL and had been a resident of Pace, FL before returning to the Brewton area in 1997. She was a homemaker and was a member of Catawba Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Milton, FL.

Buena Sapp Manning Gray

Mrs. Buena Sapp Manning Gray, age 88 of Flomaton passed away at Jay Hospital April 27, 2011.

She was born on October 29, 1922, in Flomaton to Rhoda White and John Henry Sapp. She lived in Jay for three years with her daughter and son-in-law and then was a resident of Century Care Center for the past few months. She was retired from Monsanto and was a member of Flomaton First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her children, Sidney Manning; her second husband, Joe Gray; two brothers; two sisters and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Gray is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Bob) Settle, Milton; Myrtice (Dearl) Dixon, Jay; abd Ann(Marty) Gray, Flomaton; one brotherm J.B. Sapp of Seminole; seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held Friday April 29 at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services were held on Sunday,May 1 at the Flomaton Funeral Home with interment in Rock Cemetery in Flomaton, AL. Rev. Dustin Stockstill, officiating.

Bobbie Cash Frazier

Bobbie Cash Frazier, 75, of Flomaton passed away on April 27, 2011, surrounded by famiy and friends

She was a native of West Point, Ga. and a lifetime resident of the Flomaton community where she was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. During her working years, she was a seamstress for Vanity Fair Corporation.

Her parents, Willard and Cora Bowen Cash; a brother, Allen Earl Cash and a sister, Mildred Faye Cash, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Clifford Frazier of Flomaton; sons, James T. (Kimberly) Barnhill of Flomaton, David L. (Kathy) Bourgans of Grass Valley, Calif. and Danny O. (Brenda Lee) Bourgans of Antelope, Calif.; daughter, Valerie (Dean) Taylor of Canoe; brothers, Barney (Irene) Cash of Century, Fla., O.D. (Betty) Cash of Flomaton, George (Ann) Cash of Bay Minette, Gene (Aggie) Cash of Franklin, Tenn., Odell (Linda) Cash of Huntsville, William Cash of Mobile and Milford Cash of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Dorothy McCurdy of Century, Fla., Joyce (Al) Erskin of Chattory, Wash., Shirley (Wayne) Owens of Flomaton, Rebecca Cash of Pensacola, Fla., Linda (Roy) Batie of Brewton and Wanda Cash of Brewton; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life was held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Flomaton Community Center.

Martin Tolliver

Martin Tolliver, 86, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his home in Walnut Hill.

He was born in Neon-Fleming, KY on September 13, 1924. Martin went into the Army-Air Force in 1940 where he went to baker’s school and served as a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, D.C. He had worked for Kayo-Conoco Oil Company in Chattanooga, TN and moved to Pensacola as area supervisor in 1956. He later owned and operated Flash Texaco and Oakfield Exxon, before retiring in 1995.

Martin was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Jenkins Tolliver; son-in-law, Dan Hunt; grandson, Bryce Duke; and great granddaughter, Taylor; sisters, Osie Cox and Ethel Mills, and his brother, Joe Wright.

He and his second wife, Linda, shared thirty-four wonderful years together. He was a loving husband and wonderful caring father. The very Best Pap-Paw.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, David (Dana) Tolliver, Linda Gayle Hunt, Gregg (Deva)Holland, Glenn Holland (Julie Gordon), Chris (Michelle) Holland, Gyl (Robert) Duke; sisters, Ruth Burnside and Alpha Church; brother, James Tolliver; additional children Ellis (Brenda)Smith, Beau Faircloth and Kim Hadley; grandchildren, Jennifer(West) Bowers, Rachel (Barry) Jowers , Matt Parker, Graham; Madison, Sarah, Ayla and Shay Holland, Tristen Faircloth, Trenton Duke, Meagan (Bobby) Dryden; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Bryne Jowers, Savannah and Hayden Bowers; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service begins at 1:00 p.m. , Wednesday, April 27, 2011, with the Rev. Bobby Tidwell and Allen Cotton officiating. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, FL is in charge of arrangements.

John Clifton “Buddy” Miller

Mr. John Clifton “Buddy” Miller, age 75, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his Pineview, Ala., residence.

Mr. Miller was a lifelong resident of the Pineview community and was a member of Pineview Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi & Lena Miller; three brothers, Houston Roger Miller, Eubie Nathaniel Miller, and Morgan Miller; and two sisters, Ruby Adams & Ola Saxon.

He is survived by three sisters, Hazel (Willie) Williamson of Pineview, Violet Graves of Brewton, and Ruth (Hollis) George of Pineview; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Miller of Pineview, and Ruth Miller of Molino; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. James Peacock and Rev. Homer Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

Mamie E. Rowland

Mamie E. Rowland, 77, of Century passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.

Mrs. Rowland was born February 26, 1934, in Jay. She was the first child of Rural and Parry Lee Bush.

She owned and operated Mamie’s Restaurant for 27 years. She started her business in Century and later moved to Flomaton after a fire destroyed the first location. She was a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, A.D. Hammac; her parents, Rural and Parry Lee Bush; two brothers, James Bush and Rural Eugene Bush; and stepson, Joey Rowland.

Mrs. Rowland is survived by her husband, Joe Max Rowland, Sr. of Century; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Henry “Butch” Lewis of Molino; son and daughter-in-law, Alton “Bubba” and Robbie Hammac of Bluff Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth “Kenny” Sr. and Kay Hammac of Bluff Springs; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Cherlyn and Mark McNamara of Brewton; stepdaughter, Barbara Lynn Gortman of Brewton; three sisters, Fannie Wright of Century, Bert Huss of Jay, and Mattie Mock of Blue Springs, Ala.; grandchildren, Jason Moore, Jennifer Lewis, Jonathan Lewis, Monica Dudney, Miles Hammac, Kenny Hammac, Jr., Kristal Beasley, Amber Fredericksen, Daniel McNamara, Derek McNamara, Miranda McNamara, Kristi Taunton, Jessica Gortman, and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Jay Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26 from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 10 a.m. at Jay Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hogg officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Level Cemetery.

James Ray Cassady

April 24, 2011

James Ray Cassady, age 74, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011. He was born in Dixonville, Alabama, along with his twin sister, Fay.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marie and Russell Cassady.

Ray is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pat (Scarbourgh) Cassady; his beloved daughter, Dawn (Greg) Holloway; two grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Light and Josh (Brittney) Holloway; one brother, Don (Mattie) Cassady; one sister, Fay (Rex) McDonald; two stepchildren, Glenda Booker and Terry (Debbie) Simmons; four step-grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, John, and Katrina; two great-grandchildren, Mattie and Car ter; and ten stepgreat-grandchildren.

Ray served his country in the Air Force for four years and received an Honorable Discharge. He retired from Air Products after twenty-nine years.

Ray loved enter taining at his barn, which was called “The Mullet Hole,” with his many friends and family. He also loved fishing with his good friend, John Evans.

Ray had many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored him. He was a kind and giving person, giving of himself and the fruits of his labor, especially at Christmas and bir thdays. He always gave gifts of fruit baskets and shelled pecans that he picked up. He loved giving caps to the men in his family. He had many long time friends, some he fished with and some who were his coffee buddies.

His funeral was held April 15, 2011, at Jay Funeral Home, and he was buried at Cora Cemetery, Jay, Florida.

Ray will forever be missed by his family and friends. May you rest in peace our Dear One. We love you.

Lawrence Madison Cooper

Mr. Lawrence Madison Cooper, age 84, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at a local nursing home. He was a native of Bratt. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Bratt for 46 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was owner of Lawrence Cooper Grocery Store from 1956 until 2010 and Corner Produce from 1955 until 1988.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Marion Cooper; one sister, Wilma Brooks and his brothers, Albert Shirley, Ralph Lesley, Howard and Hubert Cooper.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Mae Troutman Cooper of Bratt; two sons, Carl and Shannon Cooper and Marion Cooper, all of Bratt; one daughter, Judy and Chip Gilmore of Pensacola and his grandchildren, Leslie Cooper, Lindsey Cooper, Austin Cooper, Bryant Cooper, Blake Gilmore, Haley Gilmore and Aaron; one great-grandson, Kendall Reed Cambell.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist church of Bratt with the Rev. Gary Wieborg officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

The family Received friends Monday, April 11, 2011 between 6 and 9 p.m. at Petty Eastside chapel funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Leslie Cooper, Austin Cooper, Bryant Cooper, Blake Gilmore, Scotty Flowers, Michael Weekley, Steve McGill, Clark Hill.

Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the church and Sunday school class.

David O’Neal Jordan

David O’Neal Jordan passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at his home in Molino at the age of 72. He was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend and a Brother in Christ.

His is survived by his wife Mavis Garrett Jordan, his son Kenneth Steven Jordan, his daughter Theresa Jordan-Glowasky, his grandson Michawl Glowasky, and his granddaughter Jordan Glowasky, along with numerous other family and friends.

He will be sorely missed, but he would ask us to remember that he is in a better place and that he is rejoicing with those family and friends who have gone on before.

Services will be held at Waters & Hibbert funeral home, in Pensacola on Tuesday, April 12th. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am with services beginning at 10:30.

Interment will be held at 11:45 at Barrancas National Cemetery located on Pensacola Naval Base.

Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Manson Maloye Ferguson

Manson Maloye Ferguson, 76, of Cantonment, FL passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011. Born in Kelly, Louisiana, Mr. Ferguson resided in the Pensacola area for 52 years.

He was a veteran of the US Army and devoted 35 years to Champion Paper Company.

Upon retirement, he loved spending time woodworking, reading, and league bowling at DeLuna Lanes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, McD and Maggilee Ferguson; son, Charles Hardy; grandson, Jeff Simmons; sisters, Johnnye Martin and Alla Mac Jordan ; and brother Freddy Ferguson.

Surviving him is his wife of 50 years, Francis Montez Ferguson; brother, Wallace (Polly); brother-in-law, Charlie; sons, Gene Hardy (Judy), Steve Ferguson (Stefanie), and James Ferguson (Kelly); daughters, Wanda Hanna (Terry) and Diane Simmons (Carvel); 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Hardy, Jason Comans, Keith Comans, Tristan Ferguson, Zachary Ferguson and Kyle Simmons
